Did the lieutenant die though..? Just before he got thrown aside Amon did some finger tightening and said "I have no more use of you" (I think?). Seems as ambiguous/obvious as Long Feng/Jet... I'd like to think that was ambiguous enough.
Looking at the finale again I thought that Amon/Tarrlok's end was beautiful and that it should be left as just that. Korra being able to airbend/break free from bloodbending out of nowhere really pisses me off though.
Also, in regards to Amon's bloodbending/taking away bending, I like to think that Amon spent a good 20-odd years studying the human body and practicing chi-blocking. This knowledge (with his bloodbending) allows him to do some sort of lobotomy that cuts off access to the "bending potential" part of the brain.

A little off topic but am i the only one that's bothered by the feathered hat man's multiple appearance in this episode?

Well, overall, I thought it was a great finale to a 'single-arc' storyline. What I liked the best was the Tarrlok/Amon connection. The twist was amazing and I bet Bryke is having a good laugh at nearly all of us who said that the whole Tarrlok incident was irrelevant. What I didn't really like was the rushed progression of some things (e.g. Iroh 2.0 being introduced too late, introduced mostly for fanservice) Also, minor loopholes and convenient problem-solving (Korra Airbending). But then again, Bryke were never great at those (Lion Turtle/Energybending). I felt the Tarrlok/Amon storyline was told brilliantly - the whole of Season 1's events revolves around their story. edit: The whole I-Love-You-Amon-Why-You-Do-This bit with The Lieutenant was also pretty sad EDIT 2: Thinking about the episode again the thing that bothered me the most is HOW DID KORRA BREAK FREE FROM BLOODBENDING WITH JUST AIRBENDING WHAT

Since the current Fire Lord is a lady (Zuko's daughter), that would mean Zuko had no sons.
That means Iroh 2.0 (if he is related to Zuko) would be the Fire Lady(?)'s son.
Shouldn't he then be called Prince Iroh. not General? Of course I'm not sure about the hierarchy of honorifics... :/

I agree completely with the general consensus: The series so far is very much lacking of character development and is event driven. But I guess we have to also remember that LoK was meant to be just a 12 episode miniseries - purely event driven (Anti-Bending Revolution).
I guess from Bryke's point of view, they are not telling a story about Korra and her friends, but more of "In the year ____, this happened and this is how it went down". Compared to the original series' "This is a story of an Avatar named Aang".
I guess majority of the fanbase are too used to each episode being a stepping stone to a grand finale but we need to understand that this is more of a miniseries than a grand unfolding of an adventure.
Once I thought about it this way, I felt that the 10 episodes so far were absolutely brilliant and everything was pretty much well paced an composed.

I felt that Yakone & Tarrlok's bloodbending-without-full-moon's justification was not justified well at all.
The apparent reason they gave was just kinda like, "Oh, some people are special. That's it." I expected some sort of link to Amon's nega-bending, spiritual-wise.
Also, I felt that there was much more to explore with that: Yakone (and probably Tarrlok too) was said to be able to bloodbend everyday EXCEPT the day of the full moon. That seemed kinda interesting to me.
This episode also felt the most........fanserviced? Can't find a right word for it. Felt like Bryke just wanted an episode that reminded us of the first series.
Well, they better have a dang good reason behind Amon's resistance to bloodbending...

HOLY SHHHHIIIITTTT I really loved "Bloodlines", The Flash has always been my favourite DC hero. And to see all 4 of them together in a scene really brings a tear to my eye.
The cliffhanger was really...whoa... And there's one thing i'm (Sort of?) bothered by. - Wally West is supposed to be the fastest Flash but he's being out-lapped? :/ But then again, comics/tv series difference..so yeah.
Really enjoyed this episode overall. I think the storyline is pushed even further and now in more than one direction (The Light/post-apocalyptic future)

I think what I loved best in this episode was Lin's metal claws. TOTALLY INSANE.
One thing I'm actually bothered with is that metal benders are...kinda...useless? And inefficient too. I mean, metalbenders have to be adept (I'm think at least decent) Earthbenders, but they seem to eliminate the use of their earthbending apart from utilizing it as a jumping boost. Using metal wires obviously wont work on a mech, why not just put them off balance with a little bit of earthbending? :/ meh
Also, no one seems to be discussing this - What state is Republic City in now (or going to be in)?

Does anyone else think that Asami has a bit of a resemblance to Jun? That's totally what I thought the first time I saw her. I guess since Mako is Zuko without the angst, Asami would be Jun brought up in a rich family! (maybe bryke wanted to put Zuko x Jun in the original series but it wasn't convenient? Haha would be quite a couple)

with all this talk about benders vs non-benders, something just occurred to me...the chi-blockers must REALLY be strong/talented to be able to overpower master benders like Mako and LBZ, even the Avatar.
Instead of complaining that they're being oppressed, why don't non-benders just learn a martial art (swordfighting, chi-blocking)? Someone mentioned in another thread that "Bending isn't a superpower" and that like anyone/anything else, it needs practice.
A good example here would be Sokka. He was pretty useless in a battle until he picked up a sword.
In a nutshell, I feel that since even regular nameless chi-blockers can overpower probenders and the Avatar herself, non-bending "oppressed" citizens should take the initiative to pick up a form of self defence instead of complaining.
Do I make any sense here?

Maybe Asami Sato? And maybe it's too early to say, but just 3 in the new Team Avatar is pretty....odd? The dynamics of the group is pretty different from Aang/Katara/Sokka, though it also displays Avatar + Siblings

Anyone else feel that bending will be slightly more "limited" this series? Compared to TLA where fight scenes are more or less in the wild with big open spaces, Republic City is a small and contained area. Maybe this is why Korra mostly only firebends, and we don't see much of the other elements being used in large scale (e.g. Bolin's earth punches vs Toph's ground manipulation)
But sure makes the fight scenes look really tight

Things that caught my attention - Statue of Zuko
- Firebenders using lightning to power up the city (FLAWLESSLY TOO? I thought it was an advanced technique. Guess the advent of technology made it easier for them to master it. Same for Chi-Blocking)
- The gang names (Triple Threat Triads, Red Monsoons and the Agni-Kais)
ALSO, THESE WERE THE CHINESE THINGIES I NOTICED - The currency is called YUAN ("元", same as China). And the Mandarin characters on the notes are ("共和城" which is "United Republic", directly translated it means "Unity (or Harmony) City"
- The Equalists' symbol is "平" (Ping) which is the character for Equal (as well as "peace")
- Huge poster behind Amon during his rally has the characters "参加曄命" (Can Jia Ye Ming) which translates to "take part in your glorious destiny"
Other than that...... WHATDAFFFFF AMON??!?!?
Pretty amazing episode I loved it. I love how streamlined the story is compared to TLA. Gives it a more mature edge.
