THERE WILL BE A NEW AVATAR SHOW!!!!!!!!!!
It just wont have Aang and company...
This was on wikipedia...
"Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have also confirmed that a new incarnation series of the Avatar: The Last Airbender, is in the process of being made."
On the commentary on one of the avatar episodes I think they said something about doing a new avatar show, after this one ends...
Im sure sokka and katara and all them will have camios on the show... But they will be like, king bumis age... All old and stuff...
Edited title to reduce confusion.

Unfortunately, Wikipedia is second only to IMDB as the most unreliable site on the web. For current media information, that is. I need more details than a small blurb like that before I trust it. Anybody could add that and interpret it from something that may have only been a possibility or thought and not a surefire plan yet. It would be greta if it were true, of course (and Nickelodeon's smartest move after this year's KCA).

Agreed. While the co-creators have said in interviews that they aren't "done" with the Avatar universe yet and still have ideas, we won't know for sure if there will be future Avatar shows or what they'll be about until it's announced.
If anything, people going to the San Diego Comic Con next weekend should ask about it if the Nickelodeon reps doesn't already have news concerning it prepared.

Well if they say they arent done with the avatar universe... And the show only has like 3 episodes left... shouldnt that tell you something? I hope nick turnes them down, and cartoon networks adult swim picks the new show up, and it has blood and killing in it... It would be waaaaaay better...

"Not done" could be referring to the film trilogy.
Adult Swim thinks crude humor and sex jokes = mature. There's no art in their stuff. There's no one who could do Avatar better... except maybe somewhere in Japan.

I doubt Viacom would sell the rights to Avatar to a rival company, especially when they're putting money towards (what could be a rather expensive) live action movie trilogy. Chances are there will be something more done with Avatar in the future, but it's not quite time to bring out the champagne and confetti to celebrate. Let's wait until there's real solid news before shouting across the mountaintops. As for blood and killing making Avatar better.... that's all personal taste but I think it's pretty awesome the way it is now. It perfectly balances serious issues and comedy, and excess blood and unnecessary death could take away from that. Not to mention that if it changed to appeal to only mature audiences, it would alienate all of the younger fans who enjoy the show, and those who don't enjoy those sort of things.

I recall reading that the creaters didn't want to go in depth over the history of Iroh because they were in the works of creating an Iroh spin-off involving Iroh's past. If this is true this could be the sign that they are actually in the process of making the spin-off.

Avatar is going to follow Harry Potter in which is going to follow in the same footsteps as Star Wars.
again it rare that a cartoon, let alone a good one will last longer say like the simpsons. The average is four seasons. It been done before but note to those who want this to continue. remember that people who are working on this have other things to do. heck Mae Whitman is currently take on tv role for the upcoming fall television season, though it currently hasn't been pick up yet. So well see if our selfish need will be meet...and that a good thing cause I too don't want this to end but if it must, I live with it

I would love a spinoff and cannot wait till Comic Con where we'll hopefully get some answers. *crosses fingers*
I don't think it'll be bad as long as it has a different focus. The plot might get stale if it's just Aang again, but something like an Iroh spinoff would probably be really interesting.
And I wouldn't like it to be a real anime. I like it just the way it is. ^_^

Tungsten, I seriously hope your right!! I would LOVE an Iroh Spin-Off. And I will banish myself from TV for hating on bryan and mike for for not showing enough of IROH during season 3 until the new avatar airs.
I think as for the New Avatar Show, I suspect Bryan and Mike will announce something at SDCC, maybe show a sneak peak of the new series or an epilogue after everyone watch the finale again.
I hope they work with the animators from season 1 and 2 again, the character felt so much more lively and fluid.
If nothing happens, I will take up the responsibility of expanding the avatar universe myself. I love the avatar universe, because the characters and history is so believable and real, and parallels that of our world.

I can only pray. My gosh, it's so horrible when my friends say it's a kid's show and laugh at me. They just don't understand. It has to continue. I love it so much. It's the only thing worth watching, perhaps because it's wonderful without even needing gore and shmex and cursing. Though admittedly some things are a bit... well... er... quote: "WELL, YOUR RULES STINK!" -Katara, upon being turned down for teaching in a lost art of the southern tribe after traveling across the world in an exhausting and trying journey, by a man bound by silly tradition. -cough- Er, well, anyway - it would be AMAZING to have any sort of continuation at all. When they said there was nothing, I felt crestfallen, at the very least.

Avatar's been amazing enough with its thick plotline and bracing themes. Blood and gore don't necessarily make everything better. And there was killing in Avatar, a few times.

A spinoff would be wonderful. I've been sad at the prospect of Avatar endingf, but I'd hate to see a show stretched out to death when the story is clearly over and it's only being kept alive for the fans. But a separate story set in the same universe would be really interesting. There's so much more that can be explored and done. And an Iroh spinoff? Heck, yeah! I hope it's all true! I want to belieeeeve! And I wouldn't like it to be a real anime. I like it just the way it is. ^_^ Agreed. One thing I like about Avatar is that it's not a "wannabe anime." It borrows stuff from anime and Asian culture, but it's very much its own thing. I see what people mean about wanting the show to be allowed to be a little darker at times, a bit more intense. There have been times when the show has really pushed the limits of children's programming, and it's always had the potential to get really dark and serious, but it never quite goes there. It would be very interesting to see what the show would be like if it wasn't bound to the confines of a "children's program." But that also might make it lose some of the innocence and humor. I'd hate to see Avatar become a somber, battle-filled angst-fest. Those kinds of shows get old very quickly.
