Admit it, we all have at least one. For me, the ones that when put together, form a summary of Dragon Ball Z/Pokemon/Inuyasha/Naruto, etc. should be obvious enough, but this is the ultimate back-breaker. It's a dumb little thing, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't stand it:
Pink hair. No anime character, for any reason whatsoever should EVER have any bodily hair take on a hue that mixes white and red. I cringe every time I'm flipping through an anime magazine or surfing YouTube and an advertisement/YouTube n00b pops up saying "WATCH DIS!1!1 BESTEST ANIME EVUR!1!1one!" and of course right next to that dribble is an overblown picture of a girl with sparkly rainbow eyes and flowing pink hair that's supposed to define attractive in whatever wacky little lala land the character designer has been spending their entire life in.

-Too many animes have that feel to it, you know, the Bleach, DBZ, Inuyasha, Naruto, Pokemon feel, where it just goes on and on with no real plot and character depth. I wouldnt have a problem if it werent for the fact that those shows always end up insanely popular. I be i could make a smash hit anime; just use the most basic character archetypes, simplistic plots, and 10,000 episodes.
-Super long fights that always have to prove something about the character and the good guy has to win thorugh sheer willpower after taking heavy damadge.
-Copying Evangelion.

I think the biggest pet peeve I have with anime is how the story will focus on scenes that no one really gives a rat's &)$ about. One scene a guy about to reveal a deep dark secret and then the next scene randomly reveals about some girl character who notices a bad omen. Or we have to watch a guy scream for 10 minutues so he can power up. Or we cut to a person sneezing just because someone mentioned his name then we get to hear that person mention that old superstition in their head. Seriously if you got rid of the fluff scenes 2 to 3 episodes could be crammed into one.

The f'd up brother/sister relationships that just make me want to puke. For serious incest is just WRONG! Oh but twincest is just oh so very good. It's the whole forbidden love thing that gets such a large fanbase. But let's see... my pet peeve. Hmm, no quite sure. Of course it's the long, overly drawn episodes with too many flashbacks. But I must say, by biggest pet peeve with anime is actually when other people make comments about an episode that I strongly disagree with. It's kind of a stupid pet peeve. But what happens is someone will say something like, "OMG, it was so obvious that he was going to die. I mean c'mon, who didn't see that coming?" And of course, I would be thinking, "WTF is this person talking about? That was the most unpredictable part of the series." I think that what I'm getting at is that my one pet peeve about anime is other anime fans. Wow. I am so supercilious.

The f'd up brother/sister relationships that just make me want to puke. For serious incest is just WRONG! But elricest is <3! I hate the tragic pasts. I mean its ok if there's a charater with a tragic past, but sometimes in naruto anime there's just a huge overload of angst. And flashbacks. Especially during a fight. Especially when the flashback spans the course of several episodes. And recycled fotage to remind you of something thats not important at all. Cant a character rmember something without us needing to see it?

Pink/blue/green/orange/any other color speed blurs = stupid.
Screaming for 20 minutes at a time without pausing for a breath = also stupid.
Screaming 40 minutes at a time without pausing for air and running in a speed blurry way = Auri's eyes and ears practically bleeding.
------------------------------------------------------------
3 episode discussion in the middle of the fight over what my weapon can do to kill you = boring.
3 episode discussion made by a fatally bleeding person who is dying infront of a hospital and can get help but isn't getting help and is supposed to be f***ing dead right now = also boring.
6 episode discussion on WHY the heck am I so weak and stupid and now I get omega bunches of like PWN through my veins and I tell what I can do to kill you and listen to my fatally bleeding adversary after I just PWN him after charging up with the adrenaline PWN rush = Bored to death Auri.
Sure I practically exaggerated every single one of those, but you know it's true...

I mean its ok if there's a charater with a tragic past, but sometimes in naruto anime there's just a huge overload of angst. It annoys me when fight scenes are dragged out too long. I'm used to 2-3 episodes taken up with the same fight, but I have seen some shows that drag them to 4 or 5 (like DBZ, for example). And the one thing about the Naruto anime that annoys me is when they're jumping along the trees and they NEVER LAND ON A SINGLE BRANCH. In one of the newer Shippuuden episodes, it's like they were flying the whole time. XD

- Cheap animation styles; especially the overuse of blur backgrounds and speed lines. - Fight scenes that last forever and take up way too much time using dialogue, inner monologue, or flashbacks. In my opinion, there are much more creative ways to incorporate flashbacks into an anime than shoving them into the middle of a fight. - I have to agree with Kaneda about the angst. Tons of angst does not a good show make. It makes the characters dull, boring, and predictable. - Shows that are dragged on for too long. Plotlines get stale after a while. Any show with over 200 episodes probably needs to go by now.

I'm not a big fan of InuYasha. The manga is how long now? Like 50+ volumes? Does it have a point anymore? (I feel the same way about Poke'mon- no point.)
Speedlines are good, though. I don't like them whenever they are used more in the background than the environment they are in, though. They should be confined to just the manga version where they need speedlines to show the action.
And I like flashbacks. It shows character pasts and things that I am interested in. I just hate it when they have episode recaps (which is a flashback of what happened in the previous episode, basically).
Angst is angsty.....
More than 200 episodes? You're implying something, Syara..... Anime only lasts 200+ episodes because they make things last longer than they should. If it was the manga's pace, it would be cut in half.

The f'd up brother/sister relationships that just make me want to puke. For serious incest is just WRONG! But elricest is <3! *shudders* My pet peeves are what other people mentioned (overly long flashbacks, over-extended fight scenes, etc) and also the over-use of one effect. For example, in Prince of Tennis how they do the thing where they show the entire court and zoom out so it comes into focus. Or just how they use the same animation over and over again, every time he hits the ball.
