Plenty of people over the age of 20 watch this show. It's as simple as that. Haha..

I'm one of them, but I'm only interested in and have always only been interested in Zuko's side of the story. Aang is too... silly. Not for kids in the official target demographic, but for me.

I'm twenty-one... and my mom, who's in her fifties, is quite the fan.
The show has a special appeal to adults: it speaks to us without questioning our intelligence. It addresses issues no other cartoon would dare tackle... the brutality of war, brainwashing, the concept of life and death, child abuse, murder, alternative expressions of spirituality, and the darker side of human nature ( sadism, sociopathy, greed, unchecked ambition ). In no way is it "watered-down" for its younger demographic -- it gets away with a lot, considering its rating. I applaud the creators for pushing the envelope and appealing to such a broad audience. I have to laugh whenever Avatar is labeled or passed off as a kids' show... it clearly isn't.

^^I'm 27, and that's exactly what I've thought all along, GOZ! My friend's 4 and 7 year old watch it, and they like the art and the characters, but they don't follow the story AT ALL. To hell with the children! Leave them chained in the basement where they belong! They don't deserve Avatar! This show is for people, not children! -- SpiritBender

Oh and I'm 22 Also I think 18 up would be a better metric as that is the age that your are considered an adult.

22 years old. . . . huh and here I thought I was the only old dude here. It just comes to show that Avatar is enjoyed by people of old ages. For me it was the story, the dialogue, the action, and the thought that goes into every show that drew me in. Hey everyone we should form The Old Geezer's Club. . It'll have cane swords, free meals at Old Kitchen Country Buffet and the ability to rent ultra porn

Well, my parents watch Avatar alongside my myself and my brother. They're both over 50, my dad loves this show and almost shares the enthusiasm of a teen fan but my mom isn't very concerned though she will watch.

I'm 24. The show is not a kids' show. The themes and plots are very adult. It is just the fact that it is animated and shown on a kids' network that makes it seem like a child's program.

Do relatives count? If so, then my Aunt (who's 31), and my mom (who's 44). My Aunt watches it more than my mom, but she does sit and watch it with me most of the time. She asks me now to put on Avatar, and I'm always taken aback by it. Looks like I'm finally converting her, sweet.
And if 18 years old counts, then count me in too!
