I just realized what Hama's manipulation of the mice reminded me of. It was like the movie version of Howl's Moving Castle where Howl flicks his fingers at the soldiers a few times and they snap to attention and march away.
Howl a bloodbender? Hama a wizard? Hmmmm.
I'm certain Katara's going to use this. Otherwise why bother? I just wonder who it's going to be.
If it were up to me she'd bend a corpse army on The Day of Black Sun. They wouldn't have to fight, just get up so she could probably puppet them at least to standing. The FN soldiers would run screaming and we'd win!!
Okay.

Look are Sokka and Katara masters of there new found art...nope...All they were tought were there basics and when you have strong basics...the rest well follow to make you an expert in your own art. So katara just has the abilty to gain water from other sources and your basic control with is just stop....So Katara not at the level Hama where she can make mice dance and guards open doors.
I think too many watch 70-80's movies around *cue rocky train sequence* ;D

Yeah. And she had sort of a sickened look on her face when she actually started doing it. I was impressed at how they depicted her breaking down her resolve for necessity. It would have to be a really terrible situation for her to do that again.
Although...I place my bets on Azula being the one who gets bloodbended. She actually deserves someone to show her up for once.

Okay, so I am the only one that has a problem with how unrealistic it is for them to be learning at the rate that they are.
One other point of interest. During an eclipse the moon is a new moon not a full moon. Thus, by strict definition Katara will not be able to bloodbend even if she wanted to during the eclipse.

I have a question. There they are in the woods, the Avatar, an earth nation girl, and two southern water tribers all in disguise, along with Hama. Katara and Hama are having an epic water bending battle. Now the rest of the town shows up (and so does toph sorry that is when she enters) and there is trees that have all the water sucked out of them, there is ice on the trees in the middle of summer, and Hama turns around and starts to talk about blood bending. How do the FN people not realize what is happening?

The same way nobody ever seems to hear when one of the gang is openly talking about Aang being the avatar. It is convenient for the plot.
Personally, I think that they should have had Katara kill Hama, realizing that it was the only way to ever truly stop her.

Ok well I think the FN people from the town wouldn't of told on them, considering they saved them.
And it's a kids show, they're not gonna have a 14 year old girl kill an evil old woman!

Okay, so I am the only one that has a problem with how unrealistic it is for them to be learning at the rate that they are. Most of the main characters we have are prodigies or very close to it. And Katara has far from mastered Bloodbending. All she did to Hama was pin her down, which is what Hama did to the rat when she first discovered Bloodbending. It took her years to precisely control another person like a puppet, that's the part that needs mastering. The same way nobody ever seems to hear when one of the gang is openly talking about Aang being the avatar. It is convenient for the plot. Or how about, they weren't talking loudly enough for other people to hear? Those people tend to be a few feet away from then and the gang aren't exactly yelling at each other.

The people don't hear them cause they aren't listening xD They think the Avatar is dead ! They aren't keeping their ears open... I could be readign a book drawing whatever and my moms tow feet aweay from me and she asks me if I want a sucker4 when 5 minutes ago she sadi we had none... I don't hear... Why? Because I am not listening I think their isn't any suckers so theirs no pointy in listwening to see if she'll hand me one even as a good thing it is xD Now kinda a stupid comparison but hey xD The peopple probably have no clue what's going on! Katara making this old lady bow no water bending is seen

They're just common folks. They don't know what's going on. Notice at first they think she's a witch. They have no idea she's a waterbender.
But when she does get imprisoned again, what's to stop her from breaking out again with bloodbending?

But when she does get imprisoned again, what's to stop her from breaking out again with bloodbending? It's good, that means it's open-ended and there's a possibility of seeing a great villain like her again.

So do we consider her a villain because after all she is fighting a kind of miniature war against the FN just like the gaang.

After all, she's a serial killer that's been harming innocent Fire Nation citizens.

She's a villain in the sense that Jet was. They both underwent horrible Fire Nation Traumas.
