The full episode of the Awakening is now on turbonick for those who missed it and those who want to watch it again. www.nick.com/turbonick/index.jhtmlI am also guessing it is probably on youtube or another video site that has Avatar episodes.

Since everyone is freaking out over Azula, I am guessing these epi discussions are going to go through the roof with testosterone when they show "The Beach" (which by the way, the title is on TV.com, I am not spoiling anything here.)

^ Don't worry. We've known about and seen images from "The Beach" since pre/during-Comic Con. And not everyone is freaking about Azula either. Well, at least, I'm not. ^_^ Haha.. Ever since the Animation Insider review came out. Yet, the episodes are all going to be worth something that breaks the roof of the forum.

^^^To a certain extent, but even having read the mag, I feel like some gaps (like the Earth King situation) weren't fully filled. I'd like a little more than a comic to catch me up on stuff.

*slightly off topic*
I am surprised that this thread did not blow up, unless I missed something. When watching new epis threads in the past, there would be like 10 page jumps between my posts. I could swear some of those threads got to 100 pages within 24 hours. Am I imagining things, or have we settled down?

The episode was ok. Katara freaked me out a little, and the Miako kiss could've waited and it moved a little too fast, but it was good.

Maiko has almost been canon since season 2 when we saw Mai blush at Zuko. Also if I remember correctly in the comic Azula says something along the lines of "I think it's time we got Mai and Zuko back together." WHich implys they have been a thing in the past, which means Maiko has always been there. The only reason it seems rushed is because we were only introduced to Mai just last season, while in avatareality they've known each other most of their lives. Personally I think the episode was definately worth waiting for

^^Yeah, but even the comic made it all rushed with them. It was stated they had a CRUSH, now maybe I'm wierd, but crushes don't normally play tonsil hockey, that's left for RELATIONSHIPS. There is a huge difference between the two. Heck, the magazine didn't take the time to explain much either. I do feel bad for those who haven't read the comic, it must have confused them all to heck. Although all the comics were cute in thier own way, they all left gaps and things that still left you wanting more explaination.
On the subject of the episode itself, I forgot to mention in my earlier post, that it was very rushed. I know they had a lot to fill in 22 min, but still. This is a fear that continues, that the remainder of the show will be the same. Very rushed, leaving confusion, and disapointment. I hope I am wrong about this, it would be a shame for it to end leaving so many die-hard fans going "Huh? That's it!". Remember my faith in M&B is waivering at the moment so forgive the unhappy tone.

Since I'm far too lazy to look back over 40+ pages, there's something I've been wondering.
A lot of people said they saw Jin in the episode, but did anyone other than me notice that Hope was in the episode, too?

Hey there! Lauren here. I hope everyone is doing well. I’ve decided to post my own review and thoughts for the Awakening. Feel free to comment as you see fit.
One more thing before I get into it, or actually two things.
1. I think Mae Whitman should get an award for her voice acting in this episode. It was fantastic and it brought me to tears, but not because how amazing she was, but for a different reason. I’ll explain in a minute.
2. I’ve been reading some of the opinions for this episode on various message boards and they are pretty mixed. I’ve actually been focusing more on everyone’s opinions of Katara/Hakoda’s confrontation. A lot of people are saying that Katara was a jerk for treating her father the way she did. Other people are saying that Katara’s reaction was normal. I happen to agree with the people who say that Katara’s reaction was normal and justified. Let me explain why. And before I do, I just want to say that Katara/Hakoda’s confrontation was my favorite part of the episode!
When I first saw the episode, during Katara/Hakoda’s interaction or confrontation, I burst into tears right along with Katara. Like I said, I know exactly how Katara felt and here’s why.
It made me think of my own abandonment issues with my mother. I actually had sort of the same confrontation with my mother, but it didn’t' end as nicely as Katara's did. My mother never wanted me and made it clear to me when I was younger. She would abuse me both emotionally and physically. She also neglected to feed me most of the time. But the words hurt the most. My mother would rather do drugs than take care of me. And I acted the same way towards my mother that Katara acted towards Hakoda and I didn't regret it. Now, my mother and I are no longer talking. She doesn't want to be a part of my life and it's her loss. I did write her a letter, telling her how I felt about everything she did to me. She read it and thought my Dad wrote it! Everything I wrote in that seven page letter came from my heart! I was crying as I was writing it because I know I was hurting her and that was the last thing I wanted to do. But the truth had to be said. The fact that my mother thought my Dad had written the letter, got me so mad! Even though my mother and I are no longer talking, I still pray for her. I never stopped. Prayer is powerful. I've seen it change my life for the better.
Anyway, back to the episode. I’m not going to go into detail about Zuko/Azula’s storyline. The reason is, I don’t like Zuko and even though Azula’s attitude cracks me up, I don’t like her as a character either. The same goes for Mei. I will say one thing about Zuko’s scenes in this episode though. The part where Zuko was feeding the turtleducks was sweet and very cute..
Okay, now to Aang. Aang surprised me with his whole “I must redeem myself” thing. But I can kind of understand where he’s coming from. He wants to save the world, he wants to protect his friends and he also knows he must face the Fire Lord. That’s a lot of pressure to put on a twelve year old boy. Aang is probably also afraid of learning firebending, due to burning Katara at the fire days festival. Even though Aang doesn’t talk about it, we can tell that it still bothers him. Example being in the Guru. But what didn’t surprise me was the fact that Katara cares for him so much. I hope these two get together! Kataang forever! Katara stayed with Aang no matter what and she was at his side the moment he needed her.
Now to Yue. I Thought she was a great addition to this episode. She helped Aang out and she helped him to realize that he needed his family to help him defeat the Fire Lord.
Now to my other favorite character, Toph! There aren’t enough words I could say that would be able to describe the awesomeness that is Toph Bae Fong! Let me start with her metalbending and the way she and Katara were able to work together. That was amazing! Even though I know there is an upcoming episode where Katara/Toph argue, at least their bond is stronger now. Therefore, it won’t be so bad. I LOVED the way Toph warns the gang of the fire nation soldiers plans. NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE A BLIND PERSON’S SENSSE OF HEARING! NEVER! When I noticed what Toph had done, I cheered for her and practically jumped up and down! Go Toph! And finally, Toph’s remark to Sokka about how easy he makes it for the universe to prove him wrong! That was halarious beyond words! I could tell that Toph/Sokka are going to be the comic relief this season, which is not a bad thing at all! They work well together.
Did anyone else see Hope’s minor appearance? She is soo adorable! The baby that Katara helped deliver I mean. And I also think it was funny how Katara wanted to be alone with Aang. That is the only time I laughed when Katara was hostile towards her father.
I’ve actually had a really strong feeling something was going on between Katara/Hakoda ever since season 1. And if you remember, in the Earth King, Katara passes up the opportunity to go and see her father. She lets Sokka go. I Found that nice, but I knew there was more behind it.
Okay, now onto Suki. I really hope and pray that they find her and are able to save her. She is another favorite of mine and I think she and Sokka would be good together. IF it can’t be Sokka/Yue, then let it please be either Sokka/Toph or Sokka/Suki.
Now for Sokka himself. He was just plain halarious! From the time he made Aang faint, till the time he made the comment about the universe always proving him wrong. Sokka was great!
Before I end this review, I want to say that the hug Hakoda gave Katara was very sweet. I could tell the way Katara was clinging on that she felt safe for the first time in a long time and she really did love her father. Did anyone else notice when Hakoda said he loved Katara more than Sokka? He didn’t come right out and say it, but he might as well have.
Hakoda: “I’m so sorry, Katara. I love you more than anything. You and your brother are my entire world. I thought about you every day I was gone. And every night when I went to sleep, I’d lie awake missing you so much it would ache.” That led me to believe that Hakoda loves Katara a little bit more than Sokka, or at least is closer with her than he is with Sokka. At least now when Katara sees her father on the day of black sun, she will be sincerely happy to see him. I’m glad they patched things up. I know the change won’t be overnight, but at least Katara and Hakoda are on the right path to a better relationship.
One thing about Bato that I want to express. I LOVE Bato! He is my favorite water tribe warrior. I LOVED his line to Hakoda/Katara when Katara came to talk to her father. The way Bato said it was priceless! It was like he was saying, “I’m getting out of here while I can. I’m not getting in the middle of this one.” GOL! Bato cracks me up!
Favorite LSOTW:
Sokka (to Aang): We have a secret weapon. You. Everyone thinks you’re dead. Isn’t that great!
Sokka: The universe just loves proving me wrong, doesn’t it?
Toph: You make it too easy!
Sokka (later): Thank you!
Bato (Referring to Katara/Hakoda): I’ll leave you two alone.
Hakoda (to Katara): I love you more than anything. You and your brother are my entire world. I thought about you every day I was gone. And every night when I went to sleep, I would lie awake missing you so much it would ache.”
Here’s hoping for more fantastic episodes from Avatar: The Last Airbender! Remember, God loves you!
“It’s not important how many times you’ve fallen. It’s how many times you let God pick you up that matters.” Monica
”If you give good luck the credit or bad luck the blame, then you’re not giving God the chance to give it meaning.” Gloria

Sifukatara, no you're not the only one who noticed Hope's minor appearance. I guess you were eager to post so you didn't see that I asked that same question in the post before yours. LOL.
