I do not want Toph to die in childbirth. If she does I wash my hands of the whole series!

So... do I get any credit for being half-right?

Half right about what?
I'm just beyond thrilled she's not a Tokka baby...unless Byrke are supporting incestuous relationships

Regarding metalbending and the metalbending police force, I believe Toph founded a metalbending school after the war. There's actually books were released that follow the gaang after the series ends and it says that she actually did do this!

Well, I think I correctly guessed that the reason why there was tension between Lin and Tenzin was due to them having a prior relationship. I was, however, loud wrong about why they broke up. But, I was also not the first person in this thread to have that idea, so no credit it is, and that's cool, too. If anyone is entitled to a no-prize, it's probably dirtyyasuki, anyhow.

I knew there was some tension from a past intimate connection with Tenzin and Lin. But it's nice to be confirmed and I don't need credit. Confirmation of a theory on the show itself is all the reward that I need.

Watching the most recent episode, I had a thought. Didn't Korra's injuries from Tarrlock's icicles seem similar to Lin's scars?

Yeah, I thought it looked similar too. Perhaps Lin got her scars while fighting a waterbending gang member, although why would her scars not heal, assuming that Korra's will? Maybe it was a much deeper wound?

Honestly as hard as nails a cop as Lin is she would have felt a lot of pressure to live up to her legendary mother's reputation. I think it likely she would have pushed herself hard just to get where she is, not only to silence dissenters that she's worthy of her achievements but also of her mother's legacy. So my guess is she could have gotten her scars anywhere during her long history of service.
I would guess even further that what Tenzin was talking about when Lin and himself were drifting apart and having separate goals in life was Tenzin might have been wanting to settle down as they both got older while Lin was more career focused despite her fondness for Tenzin because she felt pressured by her mother's legacy. I don't know how else to explain how Lin rose to the rank she has without ever having found time for any other romance in her personal life since Tenzin. While still being angry at Tenzin for his supposed betrayal of her feelings for him presumably while they were younger and Lin was still proving herself rising up the ranks.

^ Turning the Tides was the first TV episode that's made me cry since The Guru (when the Air Nomads were floating away from Aang...oof). When Lin turned to look at Pema and the children, it was clear that she was ready to sacrifice everything for Tenzin's happiness and the greater good: not just her bending - her mother's legacy - but also her life.
Think about it: Lin has lost the love of her life, his children, her mother, her beloved uncle Aang, her hard-earned job position, and now her bending. Girl can't catch a break. And she takes it all with grace, because she's just that much of a bamf.
Having Amon take Lin's bending was a good writing move on Bryke's part - it raised the stakes for the finale and has the fandom revved up for Amon's defeat.
