I'm thinking it's somebody related to Bumi. Interesting... a previously unknown descendant of the Mad King. This intrigues me. I would would also like to know who this person might be.

I'm thinking it's somebody related to Bumi. ^That would be pretty awesome if it was trueXD I didn't vote b/c I'm on the fence about either a new guy not introduced during the first series or another guy we fans do know. The Duke is probably my best bet for the "other" vote. He was really nice to her during the invasion and at Zuko's coronation. Though a new guy would also be equally interesting. Was he an Earth Kingdom version of Sokka? Or worse yet, some rich guy who fell in love with the rebel girl!? And they actually hit it off! LOL!!!

Its hard to imagine Toph in love....shes just sooo independant. Maybe she found someone just like her. If its a new guy, then the question is.......Earth Kingdom? Fire Nation? Water Tribe???

I'm thinking any relationship Toph has is that uncomfortable kind you see at the supermarket with the 400 pound woman dragging along a timid 98 pound man. Or he could be like Sig in Fullmetal Alchemist... Izumi's a powerful, confident, pretty overbearing and extremely scary woman...very Toph-like. Her husband is the quintessential strong, silent type...doting but not at all whipped. They're opposites, but they're very much equals.

avaspaz: I don't think a girl being in love has to necessarily diminish her independence. I mean, she had a pretty canon crush on Sokka (I'm not saying she's in love with him by any means) and that's never inhibited her in any way. She was always the same Toph to me, maybe a little more vulnerable at times... but no less independent. (Notice how I slyly bring up Sokka ) @shaykiez!: haha harsh... But I don't think Toph is looking for an easy relationship. I think she's looking for an equal which is why I like Nandireya's idea. @nandi: I've never watched that show but that sounds like it could fit. I can see her with the strong, silent type. The kind of guy who was really private and she was the only one who really knew him and that's what he loves about her.

^ Oh I dont think it would diminish her independence at all---not what I meant =D . At first she pushed everyone around her away, making sure everyone knew she could take care of herself, by herself. Hard to see her vulnurable---I guess that's what I was getting at But she totally began to open up and allow others to be close to her in the end of the 2nd and 3rd season, particularly Sokka. So many adorable tender moments there I just hope we get to see how she meets this guy! Or at least hear about it in some way.

I say new guy we don't know. Zuko and Sokka both ended up with someone in the end, and I don't think it would be like Mike and Brian to have them or their significant others break up with them. And it would make it more interesting if it was someone new. But you never know. Mike and Brian tend to like to keep things secret and mess with our heads.

Has anyone considered the possibility that she's not Toph's biological daughter?

She has the green eyes like her mom. But you never know. A lot of earth kingdom people have green eyes. Then why would she adopt? Or were you thinking of another way Nandireya?

I'm surprised no one has suggested an arranged marriage. If she made up with her parents and got something out of the deal for herself, then I could see her going for that option, and I could see her parents goading her into it even if (especially if) they stopped arguing with her.

Off topic, but that's kind of my initial plot at Hou Tian, where I play Toph...she was inflicted with an arranged marriage. She refused to go through with it but still hangs out with the guy in question...mostly because she took him on as a student...Ty Lee's currently trying to match-make them... I can't imagine Toph agreeing to something like that, unless she actually liked the guy.

I can (so long as she doesn't actively dislike him) but only under certain conditions, which are probable but unlikely. Even if we don't think she'd go along with it, we still shouldn't dismiss it so quickly given her family's position in society and the fact that they were moving towards reconciliation.
It's also possible that it was an arranged marriage to someone we've met, especially if "The Duke" ends up being a title instead of a nickname.

Has anyone considered the possibility that she's not Toph's biological daughter? Hey, there's an idea. Toph went and adopted a homeless child and she just sort of... rubbed off on her. Nature or nurture? I think any kid raised by Toph that turned out almost exactly like her, it would definitely be nurture if it wasn't a biological child of hers.
