It sure would be kind of senseless if Azula didn't use Zuko for anything..... Quote from Bryan K.BK: Azula, even as a child in the playground, was able to recognize people who were better than her in certain areas and keep them close until she either became as good as them or had need of them. She's always manipulating, always playing an angle. My opinion/view:Azula clearly thinks she is still better than Zuko, we don't know if Zuko has surpassed her or not. Anyways, it's clear that Azula manipulates people whom she needs. That was stated by the co-creator himself! I think that it can be and is applied in this case as well. About Ozai/AzulaBK: Yeah...one thing that is genetic is he and Azula. Manipulative, plotting genes swimming around. My opinion/view:Therefore, I think Azula is plotting something. She is always up to something. What? I think she is going for the throne.... but this can only be confirmed by the series/creators.... even tough I think it's the most likely. BTW- grandmastertheo ( ) I think Yiceman meant this in a sarcastic way.... at least that was what I understood from it... we'll see when he posts again

Now, why did the Dai Li leave? Honestly, it was just for narrative purposes so we could have a cool Zuko + Azula vs Aang + Katara fight. But the fact remains...she didn't NEED Zuko's help. She had the Dai Li had she CHOSEN to use them. Reaching out to her weaker brother and asking for his help? Does that seem like something she'd really do? She manipulated him. She needed him on her side for a specific reason. She has alterior motives. She pretty much said as much herself in The Awakening. You're overthinking things. Avatar isn't without plot holes. It's true that having the Dai Li leave treated us to a cool four-way fight, but with them out of the way, it also forced Azula into a corner that only Zuko could get her out of. She was truly dependent on his help during that fight, even if it was only for the smallest bit of time. In order to demonstrate this, the folks at Avatar HQ just shunted the Dai Li off to one side for a while. Of course Azula has plans for her brother now that he's home with her. Of course Zuko going home with her was her will. She could have gotten him out of the way all too easily in those few weeks before they set off for home if she didn't feel like sharing the spotlight, even for a moment. But to say that Azula didn't call on the Dai Li for help in the face of two highly gifted benders who could have (and would have) taken her down without intervention, all because she wanted Zuko to do it as part of her master plan, just doesn't work for me. All she really needed to set her plan in motion was to spread the word that Zuko killed the Avatar - she didn't even need him to participate in the battle. She could have lied and nobody would have known the difference (Iroh isn't speaking out about what happened down there, and Aang and Katara are kinda on the run). At the end of this arc of the show, I think that Azula not calling on the Dai Li will just be another crutch that the guys in charge of telling the story decided was necessary for the advancement of the plot.

Yeah it was sarcasm, which seems like the best response when someone ignores the topic at hand and posts a personal attack against me ;p
Anyway! Yes it probably was just for a two on two fight. Regardless, if the creators HAD to explain that, I don't see how they could say that Azula asked Zuko in the first place because she really needed his help, when she had the entire Dai Li around. That's just too huge of a hole.
So, if someone asked the creators, what would the answer? Probably a very sly hint that she's manipulating him without giving away her goal.

Certainly she was manipulating Zuko in CoD. But I don't think that was the only reason for the creators... I think they did it so that Zuko would return to the Fire Nation at the same time so that his story would progress as well. I mean, iwhat if he sided with the Gaang? His scar would be impossible to hide -.-'' That would mean we would follow Zuko's story in the Earth Kingdom (if he didn't follow Azula and escaped) Which would have been useless, because we want the main character to meet at some point. Anyways, it meant a plot twist plus the fact that we know that Azula knows how to manipulate people. And tada, there you have it: Zuko is honored Prince of the Fire Nation and Azula is plotting... again. Why did we fall back on CoD again? I'm feeling confused....

Wow, I can't believe you guys actually care for my thoughts...
Okay, I'll try and set aside time to type up my theories into something readable (ah, this is going to be torture, I know it), but it's going to have to wait till next week, cause I have a paper due, and that's been eating up all my time.
Though, now that season three is here, I don't get why we're still arguing about this, cause it'll all be over in eight weeks, but okay.

^ Eight weeks? You're kidding me right...? We still have the other have of the season, but I guess I know what you mean. It'll be clear by half way through. I think...
Can't wait to hear/read your thoughts/theories!

kaibasgirl thank you so much! I appreciate it that you are trying to put time aside as well.... don't ask me what homework I have -_-''. You really made my day, I'm looking forward to your explanations Don't feel rushed tough. Anyways, the point that I'm still debating this is that I want to know some forum members better and because I like to discuss/ share my views with others and visa verse Some like it, some don't. I like it... a lot!

Why did we fall back on CoD again? I'm feeling confused.... Because "The Awakening" was lame and "The Headband" was 95% filler? ;p

Ever since the Headband, I've been thinking. Azula seems softer when talking to Zuko about visiting Iroh. So...maybw there is a chance she'll be redeemed.

^ *eye twitches* O.o Just because she talked "softer" to Zuzu doesn't make her a reedemable character. Talking "softer", "smiling", etc. doesn't make you a good person. Those acts only show how Azula can be pretty manipulative in her own way. When we mean "reedemable", it's someone who we've seen has a good heart from the way beginning. Not just by their gestures and tones.

I don't think she wants to change, and even if she did, we have no real motive for her previous actions beside being evil, unlike Zuko and Iroh. (Although, as a huge Iroh fan, if she released Iroh from prison, claiming Zuko conspired with him for his escape and Iroh and Zuko reunite, I would probably forgive her.)

I don't think we will see any changes in Azula unless (*Gasps) her entitlement to the throne is challenged. However, if Azula does in fact know that the Avatar is alive (as it seems), then Zuko has already fallen into her trap and the seat of power is hers. Therefore, she can continue being the good old Azula we know and love.
I don't know if I want her to change. She's pretty cool already ;D...

I'm surpized no one before me (especially GOZ) has sought to revive this thread packed full of cherished memories in order to bring to light an interesting quote...guess I'll do it. In the "Ask Greg Baldwin" board, Greg (aka the new voice of Iroh) was asked what he thinks about Azula and her possibly turning a new leaf after The Beach. Greg had this to say: "I'm afraid Azula is bad to the bone." distanthorizons.proboards31.com/index.cgi?board=avgeneral&action=display&thread=1192641680&page=12~Cheers. P.S. Kaibasgirl, you never did write up the reasons behind your strong conviction on this subject...I, for one, and still interested in hearing it.
