Kaneda that is not an appropreaite way to type with your peers. You should respect other board members...not to nag or anything like that. There's a difference between being disrespectful, and having a sense of humor. I haven't seen a single movie all the way through by M. Night, but whats interesting is that I know other people that are nearly fans of his work. A plus is that families can enjoy going to see his movies (even if they are confusing sometimes). After seeing this it would have to be pretty hard for the movie to flopp considering he is working with the creators. The most crucial thing will be how to advertise the movie to the masses. That might not be so hard if it turns out that these other anime-to live action movies are a big hit. Commercial success isn't the number 1 concern. Theres still a high possibility of the movie being bad. Mike and Bryan are inexperienced with Live Action, and Shyamalan's movies are hit or miss. Don't you sass me young man!

soo very sad, 2010? sorry fandom tends to die off very quickly when there's no material in between gaps Even after the series is over, no matter how popular it was, it dies off quickly *coughFMAcough*

Stupid James Carmeon. . . go and steal our awesome title. Do we know if Aang will still be called an Avatar though?

Yes. He will. They can't copyright specific words. Otherwise no one could use "Force" or "Warp speed" or even "Let's get the hell out of here," which are the seven most commonly used words in English-language cinema.
Neither can titles. If they wanted to, they could still call it Avatar: The Last Airbender, but it would be a very bad marketing move due to the fact that Cameron's Avatar opens a whole year earlier than The Last Airbender.
[/everyone's whining about the title]

Don't you sass me young man! I get the joke now. soo very sad, 2010? sorry fandom tends to die off very quickly when there's no material in between gaps Only 2 years between the series end and the movie. And there could be more material, animated movies, etc, between the two. The movie's production is even kind of interesting. I think Avatar has a more long lasting type of fandom as well. A la; Invader Zim

oh god, the tile sounds horrible "Coming to theater near you... THE LAST AIRBENDER" nope, still not better. Even "The Legend of Aang" would be ginormously better, at least more epic. still not awesome though.
Edit: here's a little conerstion I had with a friend at lunch Me: you know there's an avatar movie coming out in a couple years? Her:Really. I can wait till it comes out on dvd me: *sadly*yeah, its directed by M. night Shyamlan (sp??) her: *happily* I'm coming to the midnight Release!!

I don't like the idea of having the main character's name in the title like that. Especially if the main character is a goofy kid. Indiana Jones works cause it is actually a cool name and its the name by itself. Obviously "Aang" wouldn't be right either. So it is really lame we get The Last Airbender but at least it does have a smidge of what its about and the general public would make the connection to "Avatar".

Thats true, but i hope that they get a preview out soon at least. Even if the title is different that the original animated series, it would be good to at least give a preview before the whole of the fandom dies out and stops checking on things even related to Avatar.

I think if we could get avatar to be mainstream (how much ever that seriously sucks) we could see avatar stick around for awhile. And Dh better not die or I will go and find yall and drag you back here.lol

Does the title not having "Avatar" in it, make it that bad though? I think having "Airbender" in the title instead further distingushes the movie from anything else ever made. At least anything that anyone can remember.

I think Avatar has a more long lasting type of fandom as well. A la; Invader Zim It's entirely up to the fandom...at the moment they've either already drifted away or they're extremely ticked-off by this most recent turn of events...it doesn't bode well...

I'm not too mad about the casting, it's just Jesse McCartney as Zuko. I mean, COME ON, GUYS!! There are better actors out there!!

Frankly we all know we will go see the first live-action movie even if it's called "Appa Slober on a Stick." Appa Slober on a Stick? HA! Sounds like the name of a porno... lol...

DH isn't exactly a miniature rendition of the entire fandom. It's still a decent sized fandom, and the whole "series ending" thing has obviously had an effect on it, but not as much as it could have. Besides, do we really want to be the kind of fandom that remains too obsessive and large despite a lack of material?
