James Cameron will rue the day he ever decided to call his movie 'Avatar' because for all of history and the generations to come, the ONLY 'Avatar' movie which will ever be remembered will be the one in which fans turned out in biblical proportions and camped out at midnight the night before just to buy a ticket.
When all is said and done, it will be James Cameron's what? And Shyamalan's masterpiece...

BTW, when he says "3-D" he means that it is being shot stereoscopically, not animated on a computer. You know, like Spy Kids?

Titanic does hold the all-time box office record worldwide (not adjusted for inflation) and it won several Academy Awards, including Best Picture. I may not be a fan of it either (since hordes of Leo fangirls and Celine Dion pretty much ruined the whole experience) but clearly one cannot dispute the quality of that film.

I think the whole mo-cap performance thing (which is how Robert Zemeckis filmed Beowulf and The Polar Express) has been scrapped. And while rotoscoping would make for an interesting look, it'd be too costly to rotoscope a feature as sprawling as Cameron's making it out to be. But we digress. You can Wikipedia "Avatar (film)" to find out what exactly they're doing for it.

Well the title sucks. I'm joining the crowd that says that they should stick Aang's name in it, either Aang: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Aang worldwide.

*shrug* It worked for The Last Emperor (1987, Bertolucci), winner of the 1987 Academy Awards for Best Picture, Art Direction, Cinematography, Costume Design, Director, Editing, Music, Sound, and Writing.

I got it.....
Legend of the Avatar
or
Legend of the Avatar: Story of Aang
Cameron is a big poop head, it not like he's ever going to use the Avatar title again, money hungry jerk....im sorry i think its ridiculous if he would get made over something as simple as a title...

I think the title should just be The Legend or Aang or maybe even Aang: The Last Airbender. The Last Airbender alone isn't that bad, but everyone's gonna call it the Avatar movie anyway, so it's a bit weird.......

Well this is reasonably upseting. Get outta our fandom, Cameron. Seriously, who titles their EPIC MOVIE the same thing as a successful TV SHOW? What kinda crap idea is that?
I'll be first in line for tickets come hell or high water whatever the title is, sure, but come on. Avatar isn't Avatar if Avatar isn't in the title! And Aang's not just the last airbender, he's also the Avatar, it's a little bit important to the overall plot/development of the story!
And who confuses titles like "Avatar" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender"? It's quite easy to tell them apart - anyone with half a brain can do it. Clearly, one has "The Last Airbender" slapped on the end!
I say we boycott Cameron's film. This'll be the last time he messes with our fandom! THIS. IS. SPARTA. AVATAR.

Well, he's had the idea for his Avatar movie for more than a decade already. I don't think Avatar: TLAB existed when he thought of it. It was an unfortunate coincidence that his movie is called that way too, and that the movie had to be renamed because of it.

Not to get all mystical and Guru Pathik or anything but...
Avatar has its own fate and destiny, just like every soul who is drawn to it.
Avatar already existed before Mike and Bryan even knew they knew it existed.
Avatar is an idea much larger than itself and therefore regardless of what 'name' is eventually attached to it to introduce it to the mainstream population...
It will find its way into the hearts and minds of those who were destined to hear it...
In other words, there can be no 'wrong' name for this movie, because fate will lend a hand and the name which will help Avatar to fulfill its destiny will automatically be chosen.
Just as Mike and Bryan were chosen to bring Avatar to life...
