True enough maha, but I suppose Piandao knew that Sokka had things to do with the Avatar. Which is why he dismissed him and said he'd have to teach himself.
He accepted that Sokka had important things to do, so couldn't ask him to stay. Maybe Sokka will return after the war's over.

I always laugh that people want realism in a fictional world...like lightsabers work perfectly fine over there and not here.
As I stated...you need to pay attention to the story to get the scene like background to tell it was day or night and dialog of the story...from what I gather it was two days, but who said sokka would be a master by the end of the episode?
He just refine those skills he got.

I kind of hope Sokka doesn't use his sword whenever there is a fight, swords are too typical, his boomerang is what made Sokka- Sokka; not too mention having a one of a kind black sword made out of meteorite that can cut through anything is a little much.

Piandao gave Sokka his copy of "Sword fighting for Dummies" eh, everyone in Avatar is a fast learner. For example Katara became a master in 1 or 2 weeks. And after his initial block Aang learned earthbending very fast.

Guys, its as simple as this. A 20-22 min. show, set in 2O segments a season. (Also, ya got that 3 season limit *hint* *hint*) You have to make things like this unrealistic.

Of course it's unrealistic. It's a cartoon. It's still fun to comment on it's lack of realism. Which is why I suggested a video tape...because that would be ... unrealistic. Nobody uses video tapes anymore. Duh. It would be a cd-rom with a dance mat complete with light-up footsteps so you can get the stances right. Seriously.

Zuko: Look at all their freaky blemishes... aren't their faces spostee to be all smooth unless they get blasted by fire by thheir idiot of a father? Ozai: President? President? Oh comeon ELECTIONS! Aang and the wind sword was by far the best part of the episode. AND the wailing guitars, and the unnatural lens flare................

Now I have finally witness this episode for myself. Since I missed it this previous Friday due to no cable. Anyways, I cought this from Avatar Portal and then from a new site I found called WatchAvatar.com. For what I have seen, it was a good episode. However did anyone else feel like it continued to go be quickly like The Painted Lady, The Headband, and The Awakening. SO far I am think my favorite episode of the new season as of right now has to be The Awakening. Now Sokka's sword is very cool. I never heard of a sword made from meteorite before? Does this officially make Sokka a master of the fifth element now? Since he has an Aether sword. For those of you who do not know what Aether is, message me and I will be happy to tell you. Iroh, I guess the days of the old fat general has finally come to an end. But does it seem unbelievable that he will have shoulders that big, I mean his head didn't seem to fit his body, like someone in this thread or perhaps on AvatarSpirit said. At first glance, he kind of reminded me of a Gorilla.

Nick.com/AvatarPiandaoThe greatest sword master and sword maker in Fire Nation History, Piandao was born to two Firebenders. Ashamed that their only son wasn't a bender, his parents left him on the doorsteps of an orphanage. Growing up, Piandao was a nervous and agitated child, but he showed interest in the arts and enjoyed painting and calligraphy. It helped him relax and focus his mind. At the age of 10, Piandao attended Fire Nation boys' camp where his natural talent with the sword was recognized. He furthered his studies in the army, where he developed a vicious and fearsome sword fighting style. Piandao fought many battles for the Fire Nation and won them all. But after several years of fighting, Piandao lost his taste for war and wanted to become a more enlightened person. So he left the army and traveled the world for many years, studying under a variety of benders, warriors, and artisans. He then returned to the Fire Nation and settled in the town of Shu Jing. One day, the Fire Nation army came to arrest him for deserting the army. In a legendary battle, Piandao defeated all one hundred soldiers and the army has never bothered him again. Piandao is rumored to be a member of the Order of the White Lotus, but it cannot be confirmed. I also learned that the Warden in the prison Iroh is located at is named. Warden Poon

This episode was great (like I said before) but it was really out of place, a freaking meteor has to fall out of the sky (albeit during a star shower) to set the plot in motion. You'd think Sokka's insecurity would have popped up during the Siege of the North Pole (though there was not enough time to squeeze that in) where he was surrounded by a city dependent on Waterbending or sometime during the second season, especially if it happened after Toph appeared considering not only her amazing skills but her lack of respect for him (at least on the surface because we know she likes him).
