Just a note to say that there will be no bashing whatsoever. Anything a person says to make another person feel bad will be removed, and the violator will receive warning bars. Should the problem continue, they will receive a temporary ban from DH. Continued problems will mean the thread is shut down.

So, in the interest of peaceful discussion, and with an eye to the fact that people often will not read the entire thread from the beginning, those of you who do are respectfully requested to self-monitor, remind your fellow posters to keep it civil, and PM a staff member immediately with any issues, rather than adding fuel to the flame. Anyway I just wanted to say that Katara's death threat was the best indirect Kataang moment ever. Now if only Aang and Katara would get around to talking about their kiss...

The reaosn for the heavy warnings is because all the shippers are all in one thread.

Thats a very good point and I think it shows how much she cares for Aang. I also enjoyed how katara once again brought Aang back down to earth and helped him focus.

To me, that moment felt more like a motherly moment. Not romantic.
That scene whith Katara and Zuko seemed like the most Zutara forewhadowing since the Cave in the Crossroads of Destiny.

I can understand Aang's goofing of a bit. He's worried.

I also laughed at Zuko's naivety. He really thinks that apologizing is gonna make things right. He's not a very good protagnosis. But if Anubis could have become a gentle monk in Ronin Warriors (if anyone remembers) Than maybe Zuko can change too. But not to flame (because I feel than anything I say about Zutara is gonna be insta-banned from me) but I'm really curious on how the Zutarians are going to interprate Katara's death threat.

Oh and I love the slight Zukka moment :3 YAY

The death threat was neither motherly nor do I think it helps any Zutara cause. And I'll explain why. Katara is motherly to everyone. This is not exclusive to Aang. What she is though is protective of Aang. I'm extremely protective of my boyfriend around certain members of his family because they are rather thoughtless people who have hurt him on a few occasions. I've gotten into verbal blows with a few of them.

The death threat had a very "MINE! TOUCH AND DIE" vibe to it. She was clearly letting Zuko know what she thinks of him. And she didn't say Sokka or Toph or her fathers name. She didn't say "my friends" or "my family." She said Aang specifically.

That being said, she is letting us know how important Aang is to her by threatening Zuko. She is willing to put Aang above someone's life. And that someone doesn't even have to do anything, just the mere appearance would be enough to set her off. That is how important Aang is to her.

Zuko I doubt is going to top that in any significant way to make her fall for him. Plus the goal of his joining the Gaang is form an alliance with the Avatar, to help the Avatar. That is not going to happen if he is trying to woo the Avatar's love interest.

I'm so confused about the shipping part in this episode to be honest.

My Kataang side is squeeing because of the reasons Amira just stated in a very good way. Katara had already lost Aang once to one of Zuko's mistakes and she loves Aang too much (whether platonic or as love interest) to stand to lose him again.

Seeing as Zuko has decided to join them and will be close to Aang, firebending of course, she wants to be cautious. She just doesn't want to lose Aang again because of Zuko's actions/mistakes, because it would hurt her.


Then again my big Zutara side is squeeing as well. This is hard to explain, so just bear with me. First of all, Katara had reacted very rough and harsh on Zuko... way rougher than the rest of the gang. That is because she feels the most betrayed by him. It's obvious she can't let the past go and just forgive him so easily. It just feels that she thinks about it too much.

Also, but this could be my imagination, there just was something about Zuko's happy facial expression when he saw Katara standing at his door before her threatening. Sure, he was happy before when they let him join, but that face was just... I don't know, different. I think it's because ever since the Catacombs, he knows she has been through the same thing as him with the losing-mother scenario and feels that he can relate to her the most.

Besides Zuko knows that Sokka lost his mother too (Him and Katara being siblings and all) so he would probably find it a lot safer trying to relate to him

I would like to point out that katara does NOT feel personally betrayed by Zuko...

this episode was the first time that katara has talked about what happened in COD with zuko... and ya know what, it was just like the death threat. all about aang.

she was talking about how she thought that Zuko was just trying to make her feel bad for him so he could get at aang.


so she feels that if she trusts, or feels sorry for zuko again, that aang will get hurt...


Jet, that was a personal betrayal, but in katara's mind. COD was all about her softness almost getting aang killed.





P.S.
Zuko knows katara has something for aang now.
zuko knows that "thing" is going to get him killed if there is a training accident between him and aang.
zuko will tell aang that they need to train away from katara, and he will have to explain why.

... ya, thats right. zuko is going to advance kataang. and as firebending is all about confronting your emotions, i can see it coming out during a training session and zuko trying to give aang lady advice....
abit specific, and im not saying it WILL happen, but if aang wants to talk to someone in the group, i think he would be most willing to talk to zuko about it.
