I would really be interested in a prequel. The only thing I would be disappointed with is a direct sequel with the same characters as the original series, but the title doesn't seem to suggest that. Anyway, it's all speculation at this point, so I'm going to be hesitantly optimistic for now.

This should be a very good show....and seeing as it's still about the Avatar and its cycle were probably gonna have a run-in with the Gaang sometime or another...(either in flashbacks/present/future)..i just hope it's the same animation and not something like Fairly Odd Parents...

I haven't actually been on distant horizon in forever just because I don't want to be one of those people who always over analyze and say the same thing over and over about the show. This however, is really great news. I'm exciting though I currently don't know anything about the show, but the anticipation for what the show could be about will probably drive me up the wall with the same level of insanity that waiting for season 3 did.

It's just going to be the same story told with new characters which will last for a total of three seasons and then some other director would want to reboot it with three more live action movies. I am noticing a cycle.

I'm certainly looking forward to hearing more about it. I just really hope that Mike and Bryan will be active forces in the new production and aren't just being listed in the credits. (I'm hoping for the previous animation studios too, but I don't think they'd make a new Avatar cartoon but drop to a cheaper/faster art style.) I wonder how long it will be before any new solid information comes out, though. Well, I'm hoping there will be more news in June, but saying that makes the wait feel longer.

I really hope beyond all hopes that what this new show coming will be as good as Avatar. Mainly I just want something Avatar related to come back on television. I just hope it's a good idea for a show not some lame trying to milk Avatar for all it's worth. I want it to be good...just give us more information please

Assuming Korra is an Avatar, I highly doubt very many of the old characters will play that big of a role. Also considering the four-five generations before Aang seem unlikely since they already have Avatars.
Or maybe Korra isn't the avatar, but his/her sidekick who gets a story.

Or perhaps it's a village of airbenders.

Apparently Korra is a village in Tibet...
Whether it's going to be the setting or the guys are just using the name remains to be seen...

I really, really want another series. Something for me to squee over that's actually ON my TV would be nice for a change.
I wish they would do some OVAs, though. Those things rock, and it would be a perfect chance to just get a regular fun day with the Gaang.

To me, Korra definitely sounds like a female watertribe name. I'm guess that this "Korra" could be the avatar after Aang, since water is the next nation in the avatar cycle.

Or perhaps it's a village of airbenders. Many characters are named after cities and many cities can be named after people.

I don't know about Korra being a Water Tribe name specifically, but it does sound female, that much I do know. At this point, there's nothing but speculation. Maybe The Legend of Korra is a series set in the era before the Avatar. Maybe it's set a few Avatar generations after Aang. We don't know yet. I look forward to further information with cautious excitement, because stuff gets trademarked every day only to wind up being swept aside and fade into obscurity forever. Maybe we will get a new Avatar series. Maybe it's a movie or miniseries. Or maybe Viacom is pulling our heatstrings and intentionally instilling false hope in us faithful with this. I wouldn't put it past them.
