One question.
Do people even bother following Psera's guidelines?
I've been noticing a lack of quality for quite a while. While the occasional post consists of helpful critique, the majority of the posts consist of a single emoticon or rating. Also, the same people tend to lover girl the threads. If I remember correctly, isn't that a violation of rating thread rules?
I do understand that the purpose of the board is for fun and things of the like, but I want honest critique when I post, not "3/10 I don't know who that is.".

Kohana and I didn't like this sort of hit and run opinion in "Other Media" either. Simply put: provide constructive criticism so the OP can gain something from it.

I mean, most other places that have that game people rate avatars/sigs based on how much they like it. not everyone is going to appreciate everything the same way everyone else does. and it's a game. posts don't even count there, so there is little or no motivationg factor behind writing a paragraph about why you like or hate something. it seems to be in the game thread for a reason. I mean, it's not like an art thread or a fanfic, it's just a simple game put in the game room because posts don't count there. why don't posts count? because some games (the avatar/sig games included) sometimes include 1-2 word answers. ~Toph~ |

It's a game, and it should be enjoyable.
Getting a crappy rating because "LOL I DUNNO WHO THAT IS 2 GIRLS HUGGING EWWW I DON'T LIKE THAT SHOW DURRRRR" isn't enjoyable at all for the person being rated because often people make their own icons and want to help other people. So truthfully it's not completely a game.
Oh and it makes you look like a complete freaking moron when you post stupid criticisms.

extensive reviews/critiques are not much of a game...
so either it doesn't belong there or something else...
but to be honest, if people are gonna get butthurt if they don't receive perfect scores, then they shouldn't play the game. like fanfiction.net says "not everyone is going to strictly praise your work."
(on a side note, that's also why I think the concept of smiteless karma is ridiculous, [and not just pointing here, so no need to worry] but that's off topic)

but they're game threads... Just because they're in the forum titled "game threads" doesn't mean you can ignore set up guidelines. That's a terrible point. Not extensive, just not stupid. I'm sorry but you rate avatars terribly. TWO GIRLS HUGGING EWW. People post in the threads because they follow the set up rules and want other people to follow them. Not so people can ignore the rules and give ratings based on random inclinations No one said you had to score everything perfect, ever. Point out one instance of anything saying this. |

The thread is there to judge avatars on their aesthetic and technical points. Not on your personal opinions about what they contain. This is really not hard to grasp. well putting it in the game boards then is very misleading.
every other forum I've been to ('coz let's face it, EVERYONE has this game) plays it based on the user's opinion of it.

I can imagine it's in game boards because it's easy to rack up 20 posts a day in just by whoring that one thread, plus there really is no other forum for it.
