A merge between the Feminine and Manly threads sounds like a decent idea to me. The Harem and Ji's are just so old, and having two off-topic threads in the OGB wouldn't be so bad; I think they should stay.

The Feminine and Manly threads often get off-topic even though they were originally intended for a specific purpose, unlike Ji's and (to a point) the Harem. It would conserve space to merge the threads, I think. =)

The Harem is a random topic about whatever's decided. The Photoshop thread has a theme. It's not random. And it's not like there's a Photoshop thread, GIMP thread, and Paintshop Pro thread. =/

No one's questioning what the OGB is--but why 4 almost identical topics have been allowed to continue for so long.

And that last statement isn't really called for. The OGB is cluttered enough as it is, and we're a bit shorthanded as it is. This isn't about avoiding threads we don't like. This is about making the OGB a bit more organized.

Seriously though, look at the content of those threads. They're basically all the same people having random conversations.

Not that there's anything wrong with some friendly chatting, after all DH is supposed to be a fun, entertaining place. However there's really no need for multiple free chat threads. If they really want to chat that bad they can always trade AIM screen names. Ideally there should only be one thread for off topic banter, and all the other threads relating to a single topic. Also if the people who frequent these threads believe that one certain subject is important enough to discuss at length then they can always start a thread.

Jia's and the harem are some of the oldest surviving threads in the OGB. They can stay.

As for the merger I've been thinking about that for a long time. Because it unlike the name suggests both gender use both threads.

You don't need to remind me where shorthanded. I've aware. Seeing as shockie, goten and I are the only active Mods at this time.

You make valid points , but merging all four threads wouldn't work well.

As I've said merging a few would be easy and wouldn't cause any problems. But merging jia's and the harem becomes an issue.

For example some people may not want to be part of the harem and merging that with Ji's might kill the thread. And some people post in ji's regulatory but not in the harem.

You are missing her point. Para is stating that while the Photoshop thread serves a purpose and is not based on random discussion, Ji's does not really serve a purpose except to relieve member's of their boredom.

I'm with BB here. You shouldn't merge them all, but maybe just the manly and feminine. Even if they are all similar, it's not creating sooooo much clutter by having an extra thread. Most of the OGB threads die in a week anyways, except for these and the dreams, rants.....

I am one of the people who posts regularly in those threads, so my opinion is probably biased. But I only began posting there maybe a couple months ago. Before that they didn't bother me at all. Just don't go into them if you don't want to read or post there.

They share similarities and I'm perfectly aware of what she meant.

To many the same argument could be used for the photoshop thread. Anyone who doesn't use photoshop gets no use out of the thread and to them it serves no purpose.

Jia's dose serve a purpose like it or not it keeps offtopic and random conversation.

My point is that different threads serve different posters needs.



For right now. the manly and fem threads will be merged the old threads will be archived.

And ji's and the harem will remain unaltered.

So for now this issue is closed.
