Hey, I'm soon to be getting my wisdom teeth removed, and I, of course, have mixed emotions; nervousness, excitment, curiosity. I have questions,
how bad does recovery hurt? is dwelling on the expeirence worse than the actual expeirence? How long afterwards until I can eat solid food/go through the daily routine without noticing anything?
Please, share your stories and hopefully answer my questions.

Well I don't have wisdom teeth, but I've had some tooth problems. Dwelling on it definitely won't help, but you seem to have a positive attitude about it. You probably won't feel much of the actual pulling, though I'm not sure. When I have stuff done on my teeth, I say stuff really fast in my head. Like, I count up to 50 as fast as I can in my head, or say all the states really fast. I've seen people after and they're definitely in pain for a bit, but it'll go away soon enough. Sorry I'm not much help here....... When are you getting them out? *karma* for having to get this done and good luck!!!

My sister just got her wisdom teeth removed today. She was on novocaine, but it's wearing off and she hurts like hell. She's been wearing gauze in her mouth all day. She's alright though, she just can't talk (or eat anything solid).
Just man up, you'll be fine.

I don't have my wisdom teeth yet, but my older sister just had hers out. I came home from school to see her at the kitchen table with an icepack on her cheek. She was crying and I felt so bad for her. Not to frighten you, but she can handle a lot of pain, so for her to be crying it must've hurt pretty bad. She had this bag of little pills and she was supposed to take one every half hour to an hour to help with the healing process and discomfort. I hope your teeth don't hurt as bad as hers did. Best of luck!!

I'm getting them out later this June. I know I'm not going to feel the actually teeth pulling, because I'm being put under via IV. That's another thing I'm kinda nervous about. I have a high pain threshold, I just wanted to know how long after does it does for the pain to subside, I know it's going to hurt the first few days, but when does it get more bearable. What's this I hear about dry-socket?!

^Hmm...well for my sister, it took about a day for the pain to go away. She was fine after that. I don't think she had to do anything with a dry socket. Of course, I have no idea what that is! XD

Don't be worried about the IV. I had knee surgery recently and they did that. They explained the IV procedure very carefully and injected it. I started to get drowsy and really comfy. Then I started saying I was falling off the table, but I wasn't. It's very relaxing. I love dentist chairs too. They're my favorite kind of chairs - so so comfy.

My bro had his wisdom teeth removed about three weeks ago. He was pretty drowsy for three days after the surgery and they put him on four different pain killers. He also couldn't eat solids for awhile (he had to practicually mush of food that was still remotely appetizing after being mushed). But he's better now.

Mine hav been coming through slowly for the last two years.... they are painful sometimes when they are mashing my gums up or snagging my cheeks... but they don;t need removing and there not really a problem yet....

My wisdom teeth grew half way to full, and stopped for good. They have never hurt, or bothered me, and it looks like I will always have my wisdom teeth ;D

If your in the US Army (regardless of if they hurt or not) they get pulled. I know because I'm a dental assistant. Luckily I was born without wisdom teeth, but having to watch all of those people day in and day out is gross.
One guy got all 4 of his teeth pulled out at once. I don't see how he could stand all the pain.

I've had my wisdom teeth removed... twice! Recovery time is roughly one week, at least that was how long it was for me. The first time I remember waking up in the recovery room and bursting into tears, I don't know why I got so emotional, the poor nurse was trying to comfort me It was quite painful once the morphine wore off, but I was prescribed painkillers to take every few hours so it was all right. My face bruised a lot, it looked like I'd been the worse off in a punching match! The second time instead of bruising, my face swelled up so bad I looked like a hamster! it was soooo embarrassing I refused to leave the house! All in all the pain didn't last longer then a day for either occasions so you should be OK.

Ever notice how one bad comment can spoil the whole lot of them?
