The lyrics of Bob Dylan's "Like a rolling stone" fit Azula perfectly. While I love the original version, I strongly recommend listening to Sara K's version which is far more introspective, emphatic and even poignantly self-referential. Its how I how I hear the song now. I think the older members of this forum may have an idea what I mean even if they havent heard Sara k's version. Lord knows that age wearies and the years condemn. It opens you to some forgiveness and understanding even when hope and love are out of reach.

Azula sees love as a weakness, something to be sneered at. She's only concerned with perfection and control. And she does have her mother's love. Why does everyone think that Ursa didn't love Azula? There's no evidence supporting that. Azula assumes or thinks that Ursa thought she was a monster. Maybe Azula thinks this because Ursa questioned her daughter's terrible behaviour rather than letting it slide. Ozai didn't, I'm sure. And Ursa questioning Azula would be in direct opposition to Ozai.
From what we're shown, Ursa spends more time with Zuko(but these are Zuko's memories. He won't have memories of Ursa brushing Azula's hair or any kind of private mother/daughter bonding that MAY have happened) Azula also had friends(of a sort.....probably they were coerced into being her friends) while Zuko seems to be a loner. He seems to just sort of tag along with her. Azula does nothing to endear herself. Her comments re Iroh's son and Iroh are horrifying.
The question is, can she be redeemed? I don't think so. Perhaps she can be stabilized. But at her core, I don't think she's a good person and I don't she ever will be. Would Ursa appearing on the scene and visiting with Azula help? Maybe it would be cathartic for Azula to talk to Ursa and for her to realize that her mother loved her all along.
It's a topic we could discuss forever. But again, going by what's presented to us, Azula is a pretty heartless, manipulative, cold person who has no problem attempting to kill her brother(who never did anything to her) or her uncle. She enjoy's the suffering of others and only wants power and control.

Katara :I supposed I shouldn't be surprised.Look at the family I'm talking about! How can they know any better when their father is out to destroy the world? (Sozin's Comet Book,Page 43)
Toph: I'm just saying... that considering his messed up family and how he was raised, he could have turned out a lot worse. The Western Air Temple.
Azula was the product of her environment. She wanted love not power and needed help. That was why Zuko sent her to the mental facility.Post-war circumstances will not allow her to cause any trouble.I am very sure that her mother loved her.As known that Ozai is the reason behind all of this.
Please refer to the Sozin's Comet Book Exclusive Interview with Mike and Bryan replying the question regarding Azula.

I've read the interview. They say it's possible she'll get better and that she's not pure evil. But you can't deny her maliciousness and her hunger for power and her enjoyment of people's pain.

I am not denying what she did nor giving her any excuse.Since the source of the problem was eliminated, the fact still remains that she could get redeemed.

Actually, she would have banished so many people if she became Fire Lord.Fire Lord was nothing compared to the Phoenix King.Ozai's punishment was worst than death.Aang spared Ozai's life because he was abiding by his principles, and that what made him the greatest avatar.
