WE ARE CHOKING IN TRACK SO BAD IT IS DISGRACEFUL. both 400m relay teams dropped the baton. there is no way we can beat the Chinese like that. and we choked in softball and water polo. we don't deserve to win if this is how we play.

Our men's beach volleyball team just thrashed Brazil in three sets. Dallhauser was incredible in the last set - he had like five consecutive blocks really early on to ice the match. More gold for the USA!
And yeah, the relays were AWFUL. =/

May and Walsh had 7 matches right? So they won 14 sets in the Olympics and it's basically what Phelps did. So many athletes accomplished similar things to Michael Phelps in their sport but just didn't get the same attention because there weren't 8 medals to go along with it. He should have been recognized, but not THAT much. There are a bunch of sports that people don't even know are in the Olympics because all the attention goes to Phelps and the "Redeem Team."

May and Walsh were under the same rules all the way through the tournament, unlike Phelps, who mastered several different strokes to accomplish what he did - it wasn't like, "Oh, you can only hit the ball underhand in this match" for the volleyball team. Their matches were excellent, though. I was glued to the TV the whole time, cheering whenever we spiked it and yelling crossly whenever the Chinese got one of their freak aces due to the rain. Gold medals = press. That's the way it's always been and that's the way it'll always be. As for the Redeem Team, there's a lot of buzz about them in the USA because there are lots of big name NBA players on the court. But the timeslots in which their games are featured are atrocious. Gold medal finals at 2:30 AM? Thank God for TiVo. EDIT: Post #1337. =D

The U.S. has a Gold-medal winning basketball team again. I watched that game, it was a real nail-biter. Anyway, the coach deserves a lot of credit for taking 12 of the best players in the world, Kobe, Lebron, D-Wade, and all the others, and getting them to work together as one cohesive unit. That was some good coaching.

I can not believe that they are over. I feel lost without them. What am I supposed to watch now every night when they are supposed to be on?
USA ftw!

I think it's a parody that criticizes Usain Bolt's showboating. Honestly, I was okay with it but I can understand the sentiment. However, next time please post more than just a video, Annapurna or post an explanation.
I'm like you, West, I just don't know what to do with myself without the Olympics DDDD: I'm so sad....

I'm right there with you, but at least Heroes comes on pretty soon. Less than a month now! *geeks out* (By the way, Shawn > Nastia. ) gacs - How terribly unpatriotic of you! Shame, shame, shame. Honestly, though, I disagree. Think of it in a broader sense. The Olympics are all about celebrating those athletes who are truly world-class. Don't think of a bronze medal as being third out of eight, or twelve, or whatever. Think of it as being third out of six billion. When you put it in that perspective, total medal count being the standard by which competing nations are judged makes more sense.

Shame shame wut? I am simply stating what the official Olympics site says. If you want a more "fair" way of counting the medals then you could try this: Gold = 3 points Silver = 2 points Bronze = 1 point And it will still be the same. That's a pretty balanced way of looking at it. But I honestly do think that total medals is the way to go. It's entirely possible (probable, even) that I'm biased, being an American and all that. A lot of golds, to me, are indicative of specialization, and our even distribution across all three columns, as well as our #1 rank in total medals, just gives me more confidence in our performance than in theirs this year. ( I was kidding with the shames, by the way. ;/ )

proof of american propaganda and brainwashing, only showing the total medals table so Usa is on top, if it were the other way round there would be outrage at chinese censorship (Please don't attack me Im not being serious but its kinda true...)
Any hu, what about the Taekwondo, I have to say Im actually embarrassed even though I actually do a different style. That was an absolute disgrace that the Cuban guy kicked a ref in the head because he was disqualified for injury, then there was the awful officiating in the match between the GB and Chinese girl (the same thing happened the day before with the men but not to the same extent) I wouldn't be surprised if Taekwondo doesn't make it to London, might be replaced with Karate who also want a place.
Bad judging in chinese fights seems to be common, the 2 boxing matches with Ireland vs China were also not properly scored the first he deffinatly lost but not by 15-0 but the gold medal fight was much closer and alot of shots werent scored for the paddy
