I like the Japanese style better All manga artists, whether they come from Japan or the US, have their own styles. There's no specific style that Japanese manga follows. Take manga like Naruto, Zatch Bell (Konjiki no Gash Bell, if you're unfamiliar with the ViZ version), and One Piece. All three have incredibly different art styles. And isn't the fact that it's American "manga" as opposed to just a comic book imply that it's drawn in manga style, or "Japanese" style?

I wish I was good enough at drawing to even consider illustrating a graphic novel.
Rawr.
But it doesn't matter where they're from, long as it's good manga.

I don't care who makes it (to be honest, I don't know who makes some of the stuff I read--probably mostly Japanese, just because it's the most common) There are some styles I prefer (ex. Bleach) and some that I don't like all that much (ex. Jing, King of Bandits) but read anyway because they're funny/I like the plots/whatever. And of course there are the rare few which have awesome art and awful plotlines (*can't think of one right now*).
And everything is just the artist's preference. In some of the drawing books I have it says stuff like "Some artists prefer to..." or "there are a few professionals who.." because you can really do whatever you want.
(one quick thing -- please don't argue with me on the examples, it's just my strange opinion)
@shock Wave -- *high five* for wishing to make your own. I'm thinking of doing really, really short ones of Greek myths *probably won't happen but whatever* Good luck with your's!

I want to draw Avatar as a true manga (it'd be a fan manga, of course). It probably won't happen any time soon.
But most of the American manga artists have styles I don't like.
