I was actually saying how much more impressive the anime is during the timeskip. xP
And it's just my opinion that there are a lot of bad aspects to it. I don't personally care for a lot of the characters, and the ones I do like, no matter how major they seem to be, can never seem to get more than an episode or two in the spotlight. I'm probably just bitter about that. xD

The time skip animation has improved.
Most of my favorite characters are usually never there or they leave or die.....

It's not that we hate Naruto it's just....hmm...well since it's so popular almost EVERYONE has seen it so then people will know what we're talking about! Uh, did that make any sense? You don't like it because it's popular? Because it doesnt deserve its popularity. Its the Eragon of anime.

I have to say, all this Naruto hate warms my heart. But as for my petpeeves:
-Any series that refuses to end. Ranma and Inuyasha destroyed what little patience I had left after DBZ. No I don't want to keep buying a Manga that is never going to go anywhere.
-Abuse of the "undo character death" button. Again something DBZ ruined for me. Character death should be meaningful, not an increasingly ridiculous copout.
-Animations that lack any animation. I'm looking at YOU Standalone Complex. Seriously I get that the characters can communicate telepathically but what we end up with is a twenty minute slideshow with images of people thinking at each other.
-The clumsy but good hearted hero who somehow succedes through sheer luck/determination/help from friends. I was the right age for it when Sailor Moon hit but that's it, no more, if you suck at your job then you deserve to fail.
-The three episode long five minute conversation. The was a point in the Freeza fight where they said "OMG! The planet will explode in five minutes!" Three episodes later Freeza still won't shut what's left of him up. Not to mention I'm pretty sure that fight lasted about a month of eppisodes and he Still. Didn't. Die. All because he had to show up again so we could see how much Trunks powns. In case you couldn't tell DBZ stole a good chunk of my life and I want it back.
-Wallpaper animation. It's when there's a pattern on someone's clothes that was just pasted on so when they move the pattern doesn't. It gives me a headache. There's one series that was especially bad about that but I can't remember the title. It was a retelling of the count of monte christo set in space.
-Bad translations. Not only in the voices but the editing too. It's not so bad now but when I was growing up it was atrocious. They cut out the entire first episode of Escaflowne, the first season of Cardcaptors, the last season of Sailor Moon and selectively edited the rest.
Those are my main pet peeves anyway.

yeah bad translations are the worse, but yeah you got to start somewhere and eventually I just got used to them. When my cousin was growing up and Akira just hit the fanbase, he said people were going crazy to try and find any subtitles and translations. Now we take it for granted but he said it was like the s*** back then to find anything and when you found it, you loved it so much you just played it over and over anyway. Those were the days.

OMGYES! that monkeyshine would NEVER be acceptable in live-action television. if you stand motionless for so much as 5 seconds on network TV, you'd probably get fired. why exactly is 20 minutes of stillframe acceptable in animation?

-Abuse of the "undo character death" button. Again something DBZ ruined for me. Character death should be meaningful, not an increasingly ridiculous copout. Naruto does it to a lesser degree. Chougi and Neji come to mind. -Animations that lack any animation. I'm looking at YOU Standalone Complex. Aw, thats only the coversation seens. Most of the time they talk with their mouths anyway. The only reason it seems like they dont move is because its 90% dialogue, not action.

My timing must be terrible then because of the few episodes I've seen one was almost entirely thought dialogue and the others were either a fair chunk dialogue or showed other symptoms of lazy animation. I'm not asking for constant action scenes, but twenty seconds of a still frame with a voiceover is just annoying. They could at least blink.

Nah, they almost always speak while moving their mouths unless telepathy is necesary. the animation quality is actually quite good. (Kuze however doesnt have a fully animated face so he always speaks telepathicaly. You might have seen episodes with him in it)

From what I recall, and again I haven't seen many episodes, even when they talk aloud the only thing that moves is the mouth. The head is stationary, probably just a still that they animated a mouth over. But this is mostly me being particular at this point, I'm very picky about animation styles.
I'm not making any value judgements about the rest of the show since I never watched enough to keep up with the plot. I just haven't ever been able to get into it because of the visuals.
