I don't believe they will either. For varying reasons, most of which I've listed here before.

But I do think that everyone who says Kataang is dead and that we should give up because Zutara is going to happen is being ridiculous.

Agreed. Just because Zuko and Katara have a conversation doesn't make Zutara canon and, actually, with the recent promos it looks like that cave thing isn't go to be that big of deal. The "Kataang is dead now!" also annoyed me. Because Zutara can have a bunch of conflict and still have hope but as soon as Kataang shows conflict it's dead. Sure.
And yeah, if Zutara does become canon that doesn't mean I'll ship it. Kataang is my ship and I'm sticking with it.

You put the point much better than I did, Ana. It's not the possibility of Zutara that I'm protesting - it's the hypocritical responses to the possibility that annoy me. As you said, the general opinion seems to be that Zutara can have lots of problems and still be possible, but as soon as even a minor thing shows up that might prove problematic for Kataang, the ship is "dead". That's a very biased double-standard that is nonetheless accepted by a great many in the fandom.

Knowing fandom, as soon as Zuko sais something to Katara that isn't 'Die peasant!' they will be considered canon.

Haha! That would be one great signature.

The one I have in my head is all these scenes of amazing fights and plot development and then something along the lines 'But a vast prooportion of fandom only cares that Zuko's hair grew two inches..'

Thanks. And yes, the general opinion is that Zutara can have plenty of conflict and the like and that makes it cool but as soon as Kataang as something that may cause a problem it’s dead. It’s a terrible double standard but, as you said, it’s accepted by the masses.

I wish I knew when it started... It's really baffling for a schism like that to have developed. It had to have been earlier on though - like when Zutarians outnumbered Kataangs by better than four to one.

Zukaang subtext would make me a very happy Growly indeed! That's a real pairing of opposites and one that seems to mesh a lot better than Zutara.

Zukaang subtext would make me a very happy Growly indeed! That's a real pairing of opposites and one that seems to mesh a lot better than Zutara.

i have respect for Zutara, but honestly some people just make it too much sometimes.
