What monk says is true... though Zuko's not in the show as much, the time he *is* in is quality time, with a lot of character development. So I'm cool with that.

True...Zuko's never appeared in anything as asinine as The Great Divide... he has, however, appeared in something as asinine as Avatar Day

^^And The Waterbending Scroll.
But in my opinion, he was the best part of those lesser episodes.

Zuko's appearance in Avatar Day made that episode matter, heh.

I think he was insane in that eppi when he was trying to learn lightning. 'Who the heck is he yelling at?' That's what I said.

Well...it's good to be a little insane. Sometimes. Anyway, yeah, you're probably right about who he was yelling at. You know, it's kind of interesting--at different points in that episode, both he and Sokka talk directly to whatever power is in charge of the Avatar world. Just something i randomly noticed.

^^It seems he often has some experience in common with one of the Gaang characters. A lot has been made of his parallelism with Aang, but I think there's also parallelisms with the others as well. I call it "Zuko Synchronicity". Whatever it's purpose it's always interesting. It's part of why I don't want him to think he'll join the Gaang, because then the synchronicity would become redundant.

I thought it was funny and cute. But yes, Zuko's appearance made the episode for me. For me, it was the beginning of seeing how his bending was maturing. But it was also the beginning of another story......

Hey speaking of Zuko having a lot in common with the Gaang... read this drabble: www.fanfiction.net/s/3414481/1/Chicken_Soup_for_the_Avatarded_Soul It is AMAZING! There's also other drabbles in the collection, but the first one is my favorite. I hate Zuko, and he is NOT the sole reason for Avatar's success. The amazing plot, amazing CAST of characters, great animation, and captivating interactions is what makes the show great, thank you very much.

Please don't use the word 'hate'...it only leads to retaliation (especially from the touchier fans)...and as a mod I tire of placating the feuding hoards...
And I don't think there's a person here that claims Zuko's the sole reason for the show's success...everyone is somebody's favourite, and it is the unique flavour of each that makes the show what it is...it would be a lesser program if any one of them wasn't present.
