Definitely think Japan will eat the show up because of their relationship with China. And China kind of defines what the Fire Nation is anyways. They may be super in economic but country wise. They have too many people and a lot of accidents every year. Plus, the only country in the world who's still fighting for a hold on territory that they claim as their own. Sheesh. From what I've seen the Fire Nation resembles WWII Japan (heck the nation itself looks like Japan), while the Earth Kingdom is reminicent of China (big country, lots of people, Ba Sing Sei = Forbidden City, etc), and Air Nomads is Tibet.

^ My response to that will be with this one below. Sheesh. Really? I thought the Fire Nation was more reminiscent of WWII era Japan, with the imperialism and world domination and stuff. But that's besides the point. I wonder if in Korean version of Avatar Aang will have to call Katara a nuna. Because she is like two years older than him. And I can't wait to see Korean voiced Jeong Jeong True, you guys got a point. Fire Nation resembles that of imperialistic Japan. I'm just thinking as of right now the current China though when it comes down to communism. I can't really see China representing the Earth Kingdom, even though they have high population. I can see Ba Sing Se representing North Korea because that country is really like a forbidden extreme city to me. Unlike China where the government needs to know everything about suspicous looking news reporter foreigners carrying cameras to working class areas.... North Korea doesn't even allow cameras so it's even fortunate to see North Korean footage. Scary but also a sad country for its people.

You know it's been a very long time since I have read any world history, and even I picked up on these parallels. I think they are quite intentional.

I'm on boat that the FN resemble WWII Japan more than anything else. The EK is a mix of Korea and feudal China back when they had an emperor.

It is indeed intentional since the show is influenced by Asian culture, Miyazaki's works, and history. ^___^ (I just rather relate FN to China's government at this moment for me.)

Fire Nation culture is pretty much resemble or copy of Chinese culture. China past campaign's is similar what the Fire Nation try to do. Lets not forget that China invasion of Tibet in which is very similar how Fire Nation did to the Air Nomads. The only Japanese influence is the Kyoshi Islands and some of the Water Tribe names like Hakoda and Pakku.

Does any one know if the Japanese avatar has a new theme song? Anyways, when I first looked at the post a while ago, I though of what would happen with avatar in Japan. The Fire Nation does seem to resemble WWII Japan. So as of right now, I have no idea on what the Japanese avatar watchers think of the Fire Nation.

^ That's what I'm wondering too. I think most non-Japanese shows that make it anywhere in Asia usually keep the same opening with the exception of it being in its own language. There were only a few exceptions of American cartoons going over to Japan with their own unique OP/ED. 1) The New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2) Power Puff Girls got their own unique ending and song. I can probably imagine the Japanese VA for Katara explaining the four nations bit and everything. Picturing Avatar have its own Japanese OP isn't impossible though. I know this user tried his/her best to make a Japanese OP but it's not quite there yet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY9O2CzJndE

Has anyone found a link to a Japanese dubbed episode yet? I can't seem to find any. There is no other footage of the Japanese dub that made its way online. Kind of surprised none of the Japanese bloggers recorded it on their DVRs/tv tuners, but that's alright. Probably give them an year before more Japanese become Avatar crazed. -_-; Edit: And so far, none of the 2chan people put up anything except Youtube links to the English Avatar short. *sighs*

(according to and paraphrased by someone else) Also, Avatar is on cable so not that many people are able to see it. Apparently if it gets good enough ratings it'll get moved to a regular channel, but I'm not sure that'll happen. :/ I heard as a joke someone was going to sub the Japanese version of Avatar but that was a while ago and I havn't seen aything on it since.

The literal translation of the title is "Avatar: Legend of the Boy Aang." I thought it was "Avatar: Legendary boy An". :/ I was like An? Whos An? The narrator must have had a headcold.
