I thought the scar got jabbed and that's what made the reconnection. It completed the circuit if you will...

ya....I loved the finale, seirously-they couldn't of done it much better.
The only thing really 'holding it back' was the absense of Guru Pathik.
I mean he was so major in last seasons finale...now he's just gone. But it seems that aang found a way to control it [the avatar state] on his own...not by dropping worldy possesion...but from his own mercy (willpower?) instead. So it isn't all that big of a gap.
The whole Zuko's mother thing was obviously put in there to excite. They wouldn't tease the fans like that and never wrap it up. You shouldn't be angry...actually you should probably be happy that they promised more from the series.

I'm more bored than anything. Someone on the forum mentioned the avatar state thing, so I decided to gauge you guy's reponses.

Hopefully this San Diego Convention and the Avatar panel will give us something to get excited about. Because I do feel like watching more avatar.

Another thing that bothered me. Aand bumping into a rock triggered his Avatar State? After all that bull mess Guru Pathik taught him, all it took was a little bump? I thought it was just basically the guru was wrong, he taught Aang how the air nomads gained enlightenment but that is not the way for an Avatar because they cannot attach themseves from the world like normal people and when he did go into the AS it was part of the defense mechanisim

^Oh yeah! The other Airbender Avatar told Aang that during the movie! I forgot.

The finale was a little of a disappointment to me. I really hoped more questions were answered and not made. It was very anti-climatic. I had wanted to know if Aang really was the last air bender and if any of the air benders might have survived the attacks. They knew they would be attacked, so they could have prepared. Mike and Bryan already said that there is a 100% chance that aang is the last airbender...so that in 300 more years give or take... The avatar will be no more... because the cycle will be broken, and the world will return to an era without the avatar... And as s for the series going on with the same characters... Well, the story could go on... We still have Azula who's crazy and still has her bending... And Ozai even though has lost his bending could still be a dangerious threat if he were to break out of prison... I mean, hitler couldnt firebend and he was a dangerious man... If azula were to calm herself down, and bust out of wherever it is they put her... She could get her father, and those still loyal to them and plan to retake their nation... or something... they could try to find a way to get Ozai back his bending... The series could maybe still go on from where it was... but I dont think so... Any new episodes would come from a new cast... A new avatar...

Not true, they said he was the last airbender at that time but they also said that the Kataang babies could be Water or Air benders or non benders in the interveiw in that book

ok... so there will be one more after that... or two... or none... it depends... so what... I'm sure the airbenders will have officially died out long before a new avatar has to be reborn as a airbender... Which is good... The world doesnt need any more airbenders... They were weak, and so, they were all destroyed... Aang should never had worried about taking the life of Ozai... He was weak, his people were weak... And now the world will have officially discarded them with aangs death...

Well, I understand about the Katara babies and all. But they're gonna hafta to have a lot of kids in order to unsure that at least one of them will be an airbender. That, and after awhile, if they get married and have kids, and then their kids' kids have kids, would there be a less chance of their being anymore airbenders? (Grrr. NOT going to dabble more in the geneology of this show. )

I wish we could have seen the southern watar tribe again. It was in the first 2 episodes, then it disapeered for the last 59.
