I said somewhat. It's not that I'm actively afraid of death itself, but I'm afraid of dying. I would want it to be quick and relatively painless, but I honestly wouldn't mind anything besides a terminal illness. That would be the worst thing for me, knowing that you're dying and knowing around the exact date when you'll die. I agree, the fact that you already know you'll be passing on around what time seems so.... terrifying to me. I wouldn't be able to mentally prepare myself for that, but in some way it makes things easier for your family and friends and all your loved ones, because they know it and they have time to prepare themselves for it. They can already take in the grief then and spend as much time as they can with you for the time being. It reminds me of that fear for germs and all... nosophobia. You are too afraid to do stuff then or go outside and all. That's not a way to live at all. =/ But I think deep down we all fear death. Like Syara said, it's an inactive fear that we aren't aware of yet still have even if we don't exactly know it.

Someone put a loaded gun to my head, not too long ago. I had an adrenaline rush, sweaty palms and a boiling mind, but never felt actual fear. I told him to shoot me. He just turned and ran.

Wow, I can't imagine doing that! That seems very courageous but if you don't mind me asking, how did you even get in that situation?
Also, I guess on a tangent, if you could choose to be immortal, would you?

Do I fear Death? no, Death is only natural. we can't stop it. so why fear it? Death is only the begining of a higher exsistance.

I think what most people fear about death is being cut short of life. Whether we die naturally or early I think we'll fool ourselves into thinking there's more to do. Some people probably never fulfill their dreams or get their satisfactions out of life, so that might be something they fear.

I'm not really frightened of death. Not much, anyway. I voted for 'somewhat,' because I'm scared of dying young. I don't want to leave this world when I haven't lived my life to the fullest yet. I'm sure I'm not going to die until a very long time, but it's always something to think about, you know?

The thought of death doesn't frighten me, so I'd have to say I'm not afraid of it. xD I do want to accomplish something before I go, however. Not sure what, but I'll do it! Watch me procrastinate and like...form world peace the night before I die. xD
I really don't know what to fear about death. I believe in God and I know he loves me, but that's just about it. I don't get the whole religion thing. I don't believe any religion has it quite right. I don't even know if I believe in Hell. O.O I'm an optimist, I guess, so I believe that God will welcome all of his children, faithful or not, with open arms and that's that. xD
But yeah. Death is fine with me. A horrible, painfully gruesome death...tthat's a different story. xD

Do I fear Death? no, Death is only natural. we can't stop it. so why fear it? Doesnt that give you more reason to fear it? Many fears are irrational, but since death is inevitable, that makes it the most rational fear of all.

Many fears are irrational, but since death is inevitable, that makes it the most rational fear of all. I fear fish and purchasing things at the counter... But I'd rather fear those than fear death. Fearing something irrational seems to be better than fearing something rational, to some extent. Ignorance is bliss sometimes, right?

I think it's best not too think much of all of this, though. If you think too much about death and the afterlife and analyse it too much, that you risk living in constant fear. That's why I fear the night (somewhat not really), 'cause if I'm not hanging out with someone or have something to do, then I get super bored and start thinking too hard. In the end, I worry myself silly over pointless things. And for some reason it only happens at night. In the day if that happens I whine xD. But yes, I agree with you, better to just live your life and leave the questions on the side. Instead of pondering death or something, go, live your life and have fun. That's my goal in life. To enjoy it.

I am pretty happy to say that "passing away" doesn't seem too scary to me. The way I see things, it is simply one more step that everyone goes through. Whether everything ends there or not, it doesn't really matter to me. Every person that has and will ever live on this earth follows the same path into the world, and has no choice but to finish that path to its completion. Instead of looking at the inevitable as terrifying (I have my moments like anyone), you could look at death as an intermission. You need to take a break from all this living take a breather. But don't worry, the intermission is just long enough to get some snacks . I think that instead of fearing leaving behind loved ones, missing out on experiences, and a fear of being "gone", we should look forward to the day when we can complete our journey. Okay, that didn't come out right, but it is hard to explain. The best way you can prepare for that last step is to celebrate every day your ability to live. This must be the little idealist-universalist in me, but I think that no matter what happens, everyone, regardless of race, creed, and even their actions here on earth, is in the same boat. As far as where that boat goes, I hope for the best, but I am sure it will be an interesting ride.

I voted for 'somewhat,' because I'm scared of dying young. I don't want to leave this world when I haven't lived my life to the fullest yet. I've heard an idea that people only die when they've accomplished the greatest thing they can do in their lifetime. Interesting to think about.

That's very interesting, beantown. So maybe you influenced someone else's life, like a grandchild thus your life continues longer? And maybe you did your due and that's why you die early and since it's not a natural death, other events take course to end your life. But there's still some doubts in that theory. I mean, some people accomplish amazing things and live longer than when they've accomplished the "thing". Also, what about the criminals? Maybe their crime influenced the life/lives of the victim (if any) of the crime. ^^;

I fear fish and purchasing things at the counter... Reeally? Don't watch this next episode, then. beantown, sounds like something out of The Bridge of San Luis Rey. Very very good book. And I didn't used to fear death, either. Maybe it's something that comes as you get older, and you face losing what you wanted, one by one. It's when you really have something you want to live for, perhaps, that you no longer feel like letting go. I imagine that when I get even older, I'll switch back to not minding so much. ^.^

Also, I guess on a tangent, if you could choose to be immortal, would you? I couldn't either. And it was probably a stupid thing to do. How I got there, well... I was going home after a night of fun with my friends. They all live in the city, and I live in a village some 12 miles away. So I was walking to the busstation to catch the last bus home when this guy came from around a dark corner - he must have been standing there for a while - and tried to rob me. I told him to come get it, so he pulled a gun on me. When I told him to shoot me, he just ran... And yes, I would like immortality. It would make stuff a whole lot easier sometimes.
