-To make it short, I'm not at all scared of death itself.
Humanly (is that even a word?) things, such as murder, sickness, those are scary, to me at least. Death and the aftermath, nope. We really don't know what's after this life, but I can't imagine it to be a bad thing.

I'm not afraid of death nor am I afraid of what's after death.
Death is something inevitable. It's just one of those things you can't escape. It's part of the circle of life: you get born, you live your life that has been handed to you and then you die. That may sound so cruel, but it's just the way it is.
Of course everyone is afraid of how they're going to die. That's something you can't plan or can't foresee. And there are many ways to pass away. Will I die peacefully during my sleep? Will I get some deadly illness? Will someone end my life for my by killing me?
It's just something you have to try not thinking about and just live your life.
Same thing goes with the afterlife. Some believe in heaven and hell, others believe in reincarnation and thus thinking they will live again one day, and then there are some who believe this or that.
I personally believe that once you're dead you're dead. That's it. I know that's a little dark and all, but that's just the way I think it will be.

It's not that I want to die, but there's nothing to fear, you're not the first one who dies =)

(Geez, 7 pages? XD)
Like Dutchy said, it's going to happen, you're not the first, and death is a part of life. It's going to happen. Don't waste your life thinking, or worrying about it. It may happen in 20 minutes, or 20 years, so live it as you can.
If something happened to me, that I couldn't help, yeah, I would be sad. So would the people around me, everything happens for a reason.
Now, if somebody was going to kill, I would kill myself. They didn't earn the right to do their objective in killing me; I wouldn't let them.
What happens after? What's the point of life? That's a mystery all right. We'll never know, at least, until we lived our life well enough to know.
BTW, karma for teh pwnsome thread, Luna. XD

Like a certain british singer (whom I normally don't really like) once sung; 'I'm not scared of dying, I just don't want to'.
That basically covers it. I'm not looking for death, but I won't feel bad if I do happen to get killed, if you know what I mean. It couldn't be worse than life itself, so I'm not afraid of taking the inevitable path...

I usually just say to myself that no matter what, death is gonna happen, no sense in worrying about it. It'd be best that you get out there and live your life to it's fullest and not sit there terrified. If anything, when I die, I don't want to die not know what fun is because I'd be too scared to walk outside from fear of getting killed. Speaking of which, I might want to try bungee jumping now! Well...not really.

You may enjoy doing them now, but after you die, you will no longer have the desire for them. In the meantime, life is about the way you choose to use the energy you are given. If you use your energy to try to fight the inevitable, you waste your energy and you will never find peace.

Good way of putting it, though I'm not all too convinced that we won't care about those things after we die. I'm just totally unsure of what could happen; maybe we won't care anymore, or maybe we will. *shrugs*

Again, we won't know, we're not supposed to. But like Dazu said, don't live your life worrying about, live it! Or you may just find yourself in life all over again.

Is there any good stories that deal with the afterlife and it's concepts? There was one story I heard about that involves that after you die, you live until you are no longer remembered in the living. And then there's "The List" by Eoin COlfer which involves whether you go up or down xDD It's really interesting because no one really knows.

It's sort of long, but the last few tablets deal with Gilgamesh's quest to become an immortal and his eventual acceptance of mortality.

Death? No.
Pain? Not really. I'll try to avoid it, yeah, but I wouldn't murder my best friend to stay alive/not get tortured.
