I don't know what kind of band you call alternative rock and hardcore. When i talk about alternative rock i talk about bands like Porcupine Tree and Anathema. For my alternative rock is none mainstream.
Just to make sure that we are talking about the same genres i will name some bands and place them in the genres.
EMO: Avenged sevenfold Bullet for my Valentine My chemical romance
Hardcore: Hatebreed Caliban Maddball
NU Metal: Korn Linking Park
Brittpop: Arctic Monkeys Franz Ferdinad

ohhh don't get me started on metal. what a bunch of guys screaming from the bowels of their lungs and call it music. metal has absolutely no flow what so ever. and teh names jesus christ. I said 80's stuff, like Metallica. The comprehendible stuff, not stuff like Gwar.

i'm talking more mainstream but nevermind the fact is this is getting off topic it appears that there are some people are fans of rap but many hate it. i can understand that partially with all the stuff out now (once again talking about Mims), but listen to some otehr stuff soem of it isn't bad poetry but very good poetry like Mos Def MF Doom, some of the less mainstream guys.

I don't like metal myself, but peeeleaase! What you're saying isn't true. That's how things come over to you. But metal isn't just some guys banging away at instruments and screaming. Metal songs are often well constructed, with a good balance between rythm and melodie. Every instrument has his own function in a metal band. The drums profide the lead and rythm on which the bass and guitarr follow. who on there turn profide for the melody. If the band is good then there has been a lot of thought put into it. But heck, of course there are bands who sound and are crap. Just as there are so many crappy rap songs. And for the names: it's part of there style, you don't have to like it. But you can't say that metal isn't music. Cause it is. As for rap itself, I'm not a fan of it, not at all. But I can respect it. grtz, Ignite

The reason i don't like rap is the endlessly repeating of the same line. 50 cents In da club is a great example of this. The drumline is from the beginning to the end exactly the same. No breaks, no fills and the beat isn't very interesting and quite simple to play. The bass line is in repeat mode to.
The melody of the song is this: G# A F# G# A G# and some times the variation G# A F# G# A C#
I guess the endless repeating of the same melody and beat is the flow were the rap fans talk about.

Tupac is awesome, so is Eminem. Race doesn't matter on Rap. Rap is just poetry held together by a good beat. I love rap beats =] They are amazing! My friend does his own and they are pretty awesome.
I have no complaints in music, except country, that has to go!

I'm fine with country, at least there's an emphasis on a group as opposed to a single person (Most of the time). Although Southern Rock is, IMHO, better than country.

The flow? LOL...no, no. Rappers flow. Beats bump, bang, rock, crack, pop, or drop. I notice that too, but I'm also assuming alot of these kids don't live in the urban areas of their towns. Me, I drink Hip-Hop. *burp*
