I've seen the play and read the book. Gotta say, I prefer the play a lot more than the book. For some reason, the book kept dragging on and on, and went into like 7 different directions. Even though the characters were developed well, the plot didn't really agree with me. I agree. I'm trying to finish it, but I'm finding it hard to keep interest. I've seen parts of the play though and really like it

Made a feeble attempt at reading the book. Then got bored. Saw the play, though. And it owned my soul.

I enjoyed the book, but I liked Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister much better. There was a lot less symbolism, which I thought made the story simpler, and move faster. I never really understood the significance of that wierd clock thing. Also: Was the Wizard of Oz supposed to be the father of the wicked witch, and was her being born green some sort of reference to the fact that he was irish?
I have a feeling there was a lot of references in Wicked that just went right over my head. Like the freaky animal they found her with when she ran away as a child, and the mysterious fish that spoke to her kid... That being said, I didn't know anything about the Wizard of Oz before reading the book, so perhaps that's why. Have to say, I was really surprised about her eventual romantic relationship, did not anticipate it at all, but it was very well done. I really liked them together.

I finished it a while ago- meh. It was okay, not special really, though that may be because I know it wasn't written by Baum. I did sympathize with the Witch, but it wasn't what I expected- I was really shocked by the sex- and it just wasn't that good. It didn't feel like the Witch.
