And I know what you mean FM2 about wanting only the new games; another reason I want to hold off on Platinum is if the Johto remakes are announced after Movie 12. Long shot, sure, but I can't help but be a believer. ZOMG!! I'd be right there with you! I want a remake so badly, you have no idea!! I would go the whole 10 yards for that game.

I may be in the minority, but I never really liked G/S. It was probably because my friends told me to Grind/Train and just win.
I never got to enjoy the usual knickknacks in the game.

Sure you could have! What's the point of putting them in there to begin with if all there was to it was to 'just win.' Sure, that's how you progress in Pokemon, but that's no reason not to play around while doing it. Fat lot of good it does you now, I know, but still.

Ah, well no wonder, Horyo! Rushing through games ruins the experience. Especially with a game that has a sort of long/winding plot, there's a lot that you end up overlooking or becomes irritating in your race to the finish line. If that gen's batteries were still working (angrily shakes fist) I would 1000000% demand that you replay it and take your time to enjoy it. xP For me, playing through Silver was THE BEST gaming experience I have ever had EVER, and it completely opened my eyes the imaginative & contained world that games are capable of having. Sure I liked the games I previously played like Blue & Yellow, and various other Nintendo staples like Mario and Legend of Zelda, but Silver was in a whole different league. I loved all the different events and people that changed with each week day, and waking up early to find Ledyba and Caterpie, and staying up late to catch HootHoot and Houndour, and headbutting trees to find sleeping pokemon. I was just completely absorbed into that game; on moonlit nights my backyard looked like Ilex Forest, driving up the mountainside made the coast look like Cianwood Town, watching the sun rise on my porch made me feel like I was on Tin Tower and my cats were the legendary beasts, etc. It was crazy fun. xD I must have started my game over a dozen times, just to travel through Johto again and have that fresh new adventure feeling. One time I had a team full of Togepi/Togetics and one Noctowl. Metronome for every battle... it took me forever to finally reach Kanto, but it was hilarious and fun. xD tl;dr: Johto wins at life forever & ever. I'd probably still be playing it if my game would just save.

My copy of Pokemon Blue (Can't find my copy of Red) still saves to this day, whereas my copy of Silver can't keep a file to save it's life. And I know what you mean about the adventure sense you get from GSC. The music for certain Routes between towns give me the feeling of adventure.

Maybe a remake would change my opinions; I never felt any attachment to the gym leaders, like I did in Sapphire/Diamond.

ZOMG! I loved the gym leaders! <33 They were so cool, and their gyms were awesome. Prynce was the coolest, I loved walking on the ice all the time. Clair was cool too. I liked how she made herself involved with what you did; OH! and Jasmine too. I loved helping her Ampharos.
THEY NEED TO MAKE A REMAKE!!

Yeah, about the battery thing... The batteries in the GSC carts die a lot quicker because of the internal clock. My copy of Pokemon Blue (Can't find my copy of Red) still saves to this day, whereas my copy of Silver can't keep a file to save it's life. Yup. The reason the DPP games won't have this problem is because they pull the clock/day data straight from the DS. I've read some home-mod articles that tell you how to change the GSC game battery with a new one so it'll save again, but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. My favorite gym leaders in Johto was Bugsy and Jasmine. Claire was pretty cool too, and Karen even though she's an E4 so she doesn't really count. I really liked how much more depth the Sinnoh gym leaders had though; normally I don't give gym leaders a second thought after I beat them, but some of them actually had involved stories which was pretty interesting. Argenta is a really strange name, but likewise I think Kate is kind of a unique name in Japan? Someone on LJ explained it better, but some of the name changes may have more to do with matching the given theme that maybe doesn't show through in language barriers than whether it's already in English or not? Like for Movie 12 one of the main important new characters charged with saving the world/whatever is named KEVIN. Which, no offense to other Kevins, but it's kinda anti-climatic sounding. XD So it wouldn't surprise me if his name changed in the dub, although who knows, maybe it won't be. Anyway. I don't know what a 'Hall Matron' is, but Argenta kinda sounds like it would match her character art. I'm glad Dahlia's name is staying the same though, and I kinda have to lol @ Thorton.

Did anyone get teh Regigigas event? It's level 100 and I think it has unstrained stats, or its stats are s*****! And aw, Karen is my favorite Elite Four member, too. Sorry Flint! One odd thing I've noticed is how the first two Galactic grunts' lines are rewritten entirely. Most notably, the reference to the Giant Enemy Crab meme is removed: Diamond/Pearl: "In return, we'll refrain from causing massive damage to your assistant." Platinum: "Failure to comply will result in a painful time for your assistant." (Team Galactic's DP English script can be found here.) Kind of weird. I wonder if the other Internet meme references have been removed, like the "My Pokémon is Fight!" artist guy. Edit: Nope, the artist's line is unchanged. I almost didn't get the Giant Enemy Crab one until I watched the video Then again, I hardly consider the original line a reference, I don't, anyway, because I read the line before finding about the Giant Enemy Crab. But then, now that I do know about the relations between the two lines, I'm sad to see it go. Internet humor is humorous. And for me, it's a toss-up between Karen and Bruno. Sure, Karen's Team Rocket as well as Elite Four in the manga, as well as having the best philosophy of any Trainer ("Use what you like."), but she had so few actual Dark-type Pokemon, which were her alleged favorites, to use. Just like Lance can't call himself a Dragon-type Master because he only has two actual Dragon-type Pokemon, and they're the same bloody Pokemon to begin with! Bruno on the other hand is more of a "themed" trainer in my eyes than a "typed" trainer. He uses Pokemon that have an air of "toughness" about them, like Onyx, Hitmonlee, Sandslash and the like. Yeah, about the battery thing... The batteries in the GSC carts die a lot quicker because of the internal clock. My copy of Pokemon Blue (Can't find my copy of Red) still saves to this day, whereas my copy of Silver can't keep a file to save it's life. Yup. I've read some home-mod articles that tell you how to change the GSC game battery with a new one so it'll save again, but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I finally have something to say in response. Another reason why the DPP cards and other DS games won't have the same problem is because they're flash memory, and while flash memory does deteriorate over time, it lasts a LOT longer than the batteries in cartidges. And I dunno about changing the batteries of cartridges. Seems hazardous to the game, you know?

Other examples include the Veilstone clown's "A winner is you!" and the Galactic secretary's "Cosmic energy for the win!"... There were quite a few. Strangely, some trainers early in the game called you a noob in DP, but I haven't come across them in Platinum yet. Their lines might have been changed. "A winner is you!" and "Cosmic energy for the win!" I got when I saw those, and I got a laugh out of them. But how about that. The translator was an active member of SomethingAwful. I never would have imagined. Not til just now, anyway.

Karen icon~ <3 Don't be too hard on Syarawater though; it did KO my Electivire in one hit! That's too bad about the Enemy Crab line being changed, especially since the new line sounds a little awkward. But at least some of the other internet lines are still there. A trainer before Floaroma Town used 'owned' and I think one of the trainer school kids used noob though I'm not sure now that I think about it. Speaking of Platinum, I guess I am a lying liar that lies because I saw Platinum at the store on Monday and couldn't resist it. I blame Youtube and their glorified videos of the GTS and Battle Frontier. >_>;; My team is consisting of Riolu, Drifloon, Mareep, Turtwig, Piplup, and Monferno however so that's making it extra fun. They're mostly ignoring me aside from my starter though so I can't get to Eterna fast enough. ^^; I finally have something to say in response. I'm glad these DS games' memories are going to be so long lasting (hopefully); if I woke up anytime soon to find my Pearl game had been deleted ala GSC, I think I would just stop playing altogether. xD Makes me want to make a copy of my favorites/shinies just in case though. DxAnd yeah, changing the battery could wreck your game if you're not careful. But if one's decent at Operation then it probably wouldn't be a big deal?

Yeah, flash memory should last a decent amount of time. I know if my copy of Diamond suddenly didn't want to keep a save, I'd definitely stop playing DS games. And I'm sure a person who's good at Operation would do just fine. But I'm not particularly good at Operation.
