Does C 64 run on whatever computer you have? That's the problem. To run the programs for the old Commodore 64, you have to run the emulator program, I can't get it together... I am just dying to play all my favorites!

Click "Start" --> then "run" Type in "winver" and hit enter, then tell us what it says there.
edit: a snapshot of the "winver" screen would be even better =)
edit2: in that same run box, type in "dxdiag" to tell you what version of directx you are using.

Ok grangran, that's exactly what I've got for specs. I downloaded the zip file of version 3 of the c64 emulator, ran the setup program. Then downloaded boulderdash.d64 from that games website. It works fine (although I cannot figure out the key assignments for boulderdash. spacebar pauses it, that's all I can figure out).
So I dunno. Did you get version 3, and the one with the installer??

I think so. Since I am a dunce will real life computing (gosh you had to be a NERD to have a C64! ) I got the installer....it tells me something 3D doesn't work or isn't found.... brb... (Try a better game! The Great Gianna Sisters is awesome! ) K... Two error windows popped up: Direct 3D failed - no windows mode Direct Draw failed - Bit fast

ROFL!
I was thinking these are DirectX errors, so I googled them. Look at the second hit when you type this in google:
Direct Draw failed - Bit fast
I'm caught in a circle!
Seriously though, if you really want this to work, I would goto microsoft.com and download and install directx again (you have the latest version). Be careful though, if you have some other game/app that relies heavily on directx, it may have turned those features off to function properly. Make sure system restore is on before reinstalling directx: right click "My computer" and select the "restore" tab. Make sure the box is unchecked (checked means it's off).
If reinstalling directx breaks something else (you want), you will have to do a system restore. Have you ever done a restore? You can goto start --> help and support, then type in "restore wizard" in the search box. It will bring up a link to the wizard on the left.
Let me know if this works!

That dxdiag program has built in diagnostics and tests on the different tabs. That's where Direct3D resides. Hopefully you can find the problem (and fix it) there. Let me know, I'm curious to know how you get it running again.
