Nope. They're not that clever I'm afraid. "JJ stated himself that the monster has been down at the bottom of the ocean for thousands of years. What fell into the ocean at the end of the movie was a satelitte. If you pay attention to the viral marketing, Taragutu's site states that one of their satelittes fell out of orbit and was lost. This is what woke up the monster from its dormant state." See article here: www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/10946And I'm still looking for it for you but an interview with the director Matt Reeves also had him confirming that as the origin too.

XD It's kinda one of those weird leaps-of-logic things that you'd never notice if they didn't tell us. So it really was a, "Say whut?" moment for me too. The other thing that people are pointing out too is the cargo ship that the creature first attacked just before hitting the Statue of Liberty. You get to see it in Hud's camera when they're crossing the Brooklyn Bridge and he pans over to the statue. People are saying that you can see the Taragutu logo on the damaged ship's containers. Could they be fullof the deep-sea material they were harvesting to make delicious Slusho beverages? Did the creature follow it into the harbor sensing a food source after it's long sleep? All up for grabs I guess. Either way... Way to go Taragutu! My only question is, where was that deep-sea drilling platform the creature destroyed in the Viral Marketing News Clips? I thought it was in Japan... But clearly we're also being told this thing was sleeping and awoke in the Atlantic miles off New York harbor. So what the heck? For those who want a spoiler-filled look at some very accurate fan drawings of the monster, here you go: Dokiestudioz.deviantart.com/art/cloverfield-75073745GodzillaSamurai.deviantart.com/art/Cloverfield-beast-body-layout-75387394

I saw a clip of clovefield on richard and judy (see it only came out the other day in the uk)..... I thought it looked a bit weak.... I mean a squid thing attacking a city isn't that realistic so I wouldn't find that scary.... added spoiler tags.

Lamest film ever.
Literally.
I can't stand to watch it after 20th minute.
Ok, but some more insight as to why you didn't like it would be appreciated. Please see the stickied rules for this board.

Please see the stickied rules for this board. That's because the first 20 minutes of the film are lame. It's like watching the OC or Gossip Girls. On another note: The number one thing a lot of people take for granted in movies is the complexity of camera shots. It takes the right angle and the right lighting, the right distance, the right focus, the right level, and so on to convey the director's ideas in an artistic fashion. So imagine the sheer difficulty when, instead of having several cameras shooting at once like most films, you've only got one. I just like to explain that to people when they complain that the movie made them nauseous.

That's because the first 20 minutes of the film are lame. It's like watching the OC or Gossip Girls. I think that's what I liked about it the most. You have totally annoying self-absorbed jerks who suddenly have their worthless, drama-laden lives injected with some REAL life-or-death drama. XD That figure looks drool-tastic!!!! Though I seem to remember the creature being a little meater... Oh well. September release date though? Ugh. UPDATE: You can find a whole mess of photos of the creature figure here: tf08.figures.com/showgallery.php?cat=643
