^It kinda funny because i can also say the creators aren't going to waste two full seasons of building up Kataang But i agree with wwe1415, i don't think Zuko's planning anything Of course they won't, but who said that it would end with them being together? I see them perfectly fine the way they are now, there's nothing to add to it, other than a kiss here and there. They're are pretty close the way they are now, nothing is going to change on it. They're together and then what? Nothing, Aang is happy, Katara is happy, no one else in the Avatar world would care, Aang probably finds a loophole to having both the Avatar State and Katara, Katara ends up becoming only a prize, and he'll always rely on Katara's word. Not really the epic ending many would see coming, I'd rather have Aang being happy by himself making the decisions than him being happy just because he has Katara. bluespiritzuko: Look you're new, but you gotta tone it down, you were already warned, keep your cool.

^Kataang doesn't need to end up in romance, if the last two episodes are any indication for this. It would already have an equally, if not more important role in the plot as something that slows down Aangs development, is a source of moral conflict for Aang and as something he may sacrifice in order to become the Avatar. Thinking that it HAS to end up in romance is a pretty simple view on Aangs and Kataras interaction throughout the show.

^ I totally agree. I thought that the season finale was giving us a hint of that.

I agree its not like every crush ends romanticly we don't even know if Katara feels the same way!

I agree its not like every crush ends romanticly we don't even know if Katara feels the same way! In real life crushes often amount to nothing but often crushes in fiction have a point/come to something. That said, I don’t think anyone is saying Aang and Katara have to be together but, they are saying, with all the buildup it’s highly likely. I’m honestly pretty content with their friendship but what was the romantic buildup for if it isn't at least hinted at in the end?

I don't think there's going to be a Aang/Katara/Zuko triangle in the show. To me, it'll be too much like a bad soap opera.
Another reason is because i think Maiko's going to happen, but that's just me

Sure, Kataang doesn't have to end in romance, but just because it doesn't end in romance doesn't mean Zutara's going to happen. Zuko doesn't have to end up with Katara either, it wouldn't affect him one bit.
But even if Aang and Katara don't end up together, there's going to be some type of a "real" romantic moment between them. Too much build up for it not to be

Zuko doesn't have to end up with Katara either, it wouldn't affect him one bit. But even if Aang and Katara don't end up together, there's going to be some type of a "real" romantic moment between them. Too much build up for it not to be Katara seems perfectly happy the way she is. Aang seems perfectly happy being around her, and that's the problem. Aang should be happy with himself, but he pines for Katara's attention. In Bitter Work as soon as Aang finally gets the hang of Earth bending what's the first thing he does? He goes and shows off to Katara. He seeks her approval, when he should be happy with what he does and NOT what Katara thinks. Aang's feelings for Katara has been building up since the beginning, but it doesn't mean that Katara will return those feelings. What if those feelings were only meant to be there as an obstacle in the way of Aang to finally reaching enlightenment? To finally overcome the pain of an out of control Avatar State to finally be in control. Aang could have mastered it, but his attachment to Katara, his want to be with her romantically got in the way. Guru Patik meant exactly what he said, Aang panicked, Patik didn't bother to explain further, he didn't bother to show another option, because Guru Patik meant exactly what he said, let her go. If Aang somehow finds a loophole where can achieve both, good for him. But it doesn't send a good message. You can't always get what you want, and you have to do what is right rather than what you want. Yue did it. She gave up her future and relationship with Sokka to do what was right. She could have went with Sokka and screw the world over, but she didn't, she did an honorable thing. Aang's in a similar predictament, he can either believe he doesn't need the Avatar State and run along to be happy with his attachment to Katara, screw the world over, or he can do the right thing. The world has been defending itself for a hundred years since Aang disapeared and they're failing badly, the Fire Nation is closer to domination and the world needs the Avatar, they can keep defending themselves from the Fire Nation but they aren't succeeding in it. Now we'll just have to wait till the season begins.

I agree. Aang being strong and confident in himself is better than continuing to seek Katara's attentions. It's a more heroic ending, imo. Mwahaha, I feel like I'm recruiting followers^

Why does everybody keep ignoring the fact that the Avatar State might not be able to be called upon anymore? Aang dying in the Avatar State doesnt prove it's gone forever, but it's highly probable it's going to have some severe consequences on his ability to tap into it's power. So "Aang has to fulfill his destiny", "Katara is only slowing him down" (even when plethorically shown otherwise), "the world is counting on him" etc is all very dandy, but don't really matter anymore if the AS is gone. Which isn't all that unlikely, with a big part of the finale being about love being stronger than power...
People will always keep claiming it's onesided, but that doesn't make it so. It's proven beyond any doubt that Katara loves Aang a lot, and with the signs of romantic attraction she has already displayed for him, I would find it a very impressive achievement if she didn't end up falling in love with him. Seriously, when at one point she openly offers to make out with him and the next she's hugging him to calmness when he is in his enraged demigod mode capable of killing every living creature in a ten mile radius, then I think that's hinting at something.
Ah, come on, she's a Zutarian, of course she's going to back you up on this one. Recruit a non-shipper and then you can start boasting, m'kay? ;D

Why should he be the only one to not think the Avatar State isn't important when all the other Avatars all had to give up something they were attached to? If it's gone, well then it's gone, and all the power of LUrrve can certainly defeat Ozai. The way I see it, Kataang is already there, what is there to build upon if she confesses her undying love for him? Nothing, she already cares for him a great deal, nothing is going to change other than a kiss here and there. Fluff gallore. Aang gets what he wants, and doesn't learn anything. He'll always rely on Katara, and put above others, and Katara becomes a prize. Excuse me? So what if I am? The difference between you and I, is that I don't care if any ship happens, I don't care if Zutara doesn't, it's no sweat off my back. I ship what appeals to me, not for "OMFG CANON PROOF" I've avoided discussing ships for a while and I come back not caring, because it's a show! When it's done and over with, I'll move onto another without batting an eyelash. I see things how I see them, I see Aang backed into a corner either going with the Avatar State or picking Katara. I see Katara not liking Aang the way he does, because she hasn't shown me anything other since season 1. I see Aang's feelings only been building up since the beginning to be an obstacle for him to reaching enlightenment. So have a nice day.

I see Aang's feelings only been building up since the beginning to be an obstacle for him to reaching enlightenment. So have a nice day. Dude, get a grip. I was only joking. Sheez,a ;D emoticon should make that clear enough... Him not putting Katara over the world doesn't necessarily mean he has to cut all romantic ties with her. A little self-discipline can work miracles... As for him relying on Katara, I disagree. He has never relied on Katara. He doesn't run of to her when he needs to make a hard decision, he doesn't let her run his life and he doesn't try to shuff his role as Avatar off on her. So no, I don't see the overreliance in the relationship between Katara and Aang that I see in the relationship between say, Zuko and Iroh. Katara has Aang's back. When he is in trouble or in need of help, she's always there for him. And that's wonderful, as it's both good tv and a healthy ehtical lesson for the minors watching this. Katara helping Aang when he's feeling enraged or depressed doesn't show an unhealthy reliance, but a healthy dependancy on the people who love you most. There's nothing inherently bad about that, so I see no reason why this should be sacrificed. His impulsive reflex to always try to save the people he loves, even when the effect of this choice can only be counter-productive, now that is something that can be sacrificed. But his dependance on others? Nah, not in my opinion.

I think the dependece she's refering to is that Aang sees attracting Katara as more important than saving the world, right now. It's a more subtle form of dependency: his happiness depends on her liking him. Let's look at the hypothetical situation here: how would Aang react if she turned him down? Would he shrug it off and focus on his responsibilities? If, as you keep claiming, his love is such a pure, epic, heroic, and undying sensation of emotions more powerful than any of us mere mortals could comprehend (instead of a 12-year-old cush), then no. He would be devistated to the point that he might not even care about saving the world anymore. That's the kind of dependency that can be harmful. And I must say, I don't think your message of a "healthy dependency on those you love" is really that healthy if they make it romantic. If they keep it a friendship, yes, but if it turns to romance, not only would it imply that childhood crushes will always work out, that it's ok to focus purely on what brings you instant gratification and not on your responsibilities, it would almost scream that true love is needed to be happy. That's why I don't like it. If they had had a slow and gradual building of the romance, instead of a lingering one-sidded crush that suddenly springs into romance at the very end, I could see it as a more natural romantic relationship that doesn't interfere with Aang's duties. But that's not how it's been presented, and the Guru stuff only makes me doubt it more. Not only has his crush been shown as one-sided, there's clear direct evidence given that implies it directly effects the chances of saving the world. So far, this romantic obsession has just about caused the death of the Avatar State, and perhaps the chances of all future avatars. Never, at any point, has the Avatar State or the role of the Avatar been seen as an evil, with the good and pure relationship that is kataang heroicly saving the world from the horrible thing that is the Avatar. The avatar's role, despite what we might think of it's usefulness, has been presented on the show as that of a good and noble one. So if Aang and Katara's relationship threatens this, what do you think will happen? A good and helpful thing is killed so that Aang is happy? Or Aang undergoes personal sacrifice to save the world's best chance? I prefer the latter. Aang and Katara's relationship threaten the foundation that is the Avatar. P.S. spook you're just jealous because you're not recruiting followers <--smiley face, just joking, can't get mad!
