But being inexperienced doesn't mean you are immature. Those are two different things. Inexperienced... It means, well, you are inexperienced. xD You clarified, but your words still mean the same thing, and I still don't think it is right. I'd just like to see how Aangs well being is taken into account as much as Tophs in Tophaang. Not 'he needs to be shaped up' or whatever- because he is mature, he can stand on his own as Toph can. Sure they are young, but even when they are older: what support or...or whatever romantic love parts does Aang recieve from being with Toph, since it will probably always be her own inner conflict to compromise, in my view? @gotterdammerung: Nicely said. x3 Edit: This is, will you believe, the eight time today I've defended Aangs maturity in general? Something is wrong here...

I wasn't actually specifically replying to you. I was just posting a thought in response to a common strike against Aang/Katara: Aang and Katara's respective ages and level of maturity.
You might not have meant it, but a longstanding argument against the ship is that Aang is too immature to become involved with the older and more mature Katara, and conversely, she is more suited in terms of romantic/sexual maturity to Zuko.
Or...maybe you weren't replying to me?!

It's a pretty annoying claim too, as it isn't true. *Rubs forehead* 8th time I've had to defend Aangs maturity today- stupif, friggin' eigth time... I think Aangs good graces are overlooked for the benifit for Zutara as well. I mean- Aangs in the middle of Zutara, for Petes sake! It affects him too anyway, how does he disappear, or search for Katara in those kidnapped plots, and just be all smiles and roses in the end? Edit: That was confusing. I mean, how does Aang just smile at Zutara if he likes Katara too?? And how does Sokka?? And why is Sokkas angry reaction picked at?? I'd be angry too if the guy trying to- as I think- kill me was suddenly dating my sister!! At least let him be overprotective, and not...not just so accepting...Well, this was from a bad fanfic.>.> Or lots. Meh. But Aang and Sokka...they are affected by Zutara too....What would they feel? Even for other shippings, how would the other characters feel? He has feelings that are important to Katara!! He does!! >O

So true. I agree with Gotterdammerung and Icehopper.
Aang isn't immature at all, whether it be for relationships or his life. If anything, the most immature character is Zuko because, whether he realizes or not, he fights for attention. He constantly sulks, complains, and whines... and for what? Aang, being only 12 years old, doesn't sulk at all, and he insteads smiles and creates such a comforting atmosphere.
People often get the word "immature" confused with a person's age. This is not true. At all. Immaturity is dependent on how a person acts. Just because Aang is fun loving and enjoys having a good time with his friends doesn't mean that he can be considered immature.
Aang is often left out of the picture. I don't read romance fics at all, even for my own ship. I used to, but I stopped after reading such horrid fanfics that I thought (from the summary and title) were actually good. Fact is, Aang has feelings for Katara that he holds very strongly. If, later in the series, she gets with him and then dumps him for Zuko, I'll be very angry at her. Aang has done so much for Katara already, while Zuko has done nothing but try to kill/capture her and her friends and stalking them.

A further thought on the subject of Aang and Katara's age difference and what it means (I edited it into my previous post, but I'll repeat it here: to the best of my knowledge it's never actually been explicitly put forth on the show as any sort of obstacle. Certainly, our cultural expectations make the fact that she's two years older stick out to us, but on the actual show no one's ever so much as raised an eyebrow at the idea.
Oh and hilariously the quote of the day from my email service: "Youth has no age." Nicely topical, eh?
re: how other characters would feel about Zuko/Katara.
I don't necessarily count the fact that it would be controversial against the ship because stories are built on conflict after all, but I do resent it when people just completely gloss over the fact that it would likely be very hurtful for both Sokka and Aang for her to become romantically involved with Zuko.
Another annoying trope is the one mentioned where Zuko immediately overtakes Aang in importance in Katara's life, inasmuch as she's suddenly completely consumed with healing his tortured soul, etc. which I think bugs me more than anything else. Even if Katara and Aang never actually get together romantically, she's still his best friend. One of the major emotional throughlines of the entire series is Katara's devotion to him and her unwavering faith and support.
Being generally indifferent, I likely won't care if Aang and Katara never become officially involved, but I am very emotionally involved in their friendship and can't stand to see that besmirched.

Agreed with Almighty. xD I will be very mad, too, if Katara abandons Aang for Zuko, or disregards Aangs friendship for Zuko. I mean, in Zutara especially I don't see her still vauling Aangs friendship. A lot of the times it just seems Zuko is enough for her, and why is that so? If Katara has Zuko why wouldn't she still needs friends, or Sokka- family?
I would be disgusted if she becomes 'too mature' for Sokka or Aang as she...you know...with Zuko, or something.x(
I think if she and Zuko become friends and then pursure something more it might....you know, but if it is just abrupt it would suck. I have nothing against the ship so much as I do on how it is protrayed and interpreted by the majority of the fandom.
'Stalking'...xD *Tee hee* That made me chuckle for some reason Almighty..xD It reminded me of that post Conefettie made that Katara offered to help Iroh and Zuko just sat there like a sack of potatoes...Ah, good times, good times..xD
Edit: Gotterdammerung, that rocks. That's great you care for their friendship, because I see a lack of caring for it quite a lot. Aang will always be important to Katara- Zuko will never have that sort of friendship she has with Aang, because he isn't Aang, and I rarely see that discussed in Zutara...
Edit Edit: Youth has no age...*heehee* xD

Gotterdammerung: Yes! I totally agree with you. Katara and Aang share a powerful bond, whether it be friendship or something romantic. Having her replace someone who is so close to her for someone that had once nearly killed her and her friends just seems out of character. Actually, what I think I've read so many times, other than the healing tortured soul thing, is that Aang dies leaving Katara totally free to be with Zuko. That also angers me because that is just basically a really bad excuse just to get rid of Aang. -___-
Icehopper: Well, Zuko did sit there like a sack of potatoes... and he was technically stalking Aang. XD I mean, he's hunting down the avatar. WE know his reasons, but Aang and gang don't... so to them... he just seems like a crazed stalker with some weird burn on his eye. XD

XD So...wrong...laughing...so *Tee hee hee widdle fiddle giggle! xD* Oh-ow...my tummy..xD Oh, hee hee! I can't stand those plots *and try to avoid them* when Aang dies. I mean, more than anything Katara would probably grieve for awhile, not run into some Zukos arms. xD If she would go anywhere, it would probably be with Sokka, and more than likely going back home to Gran Gran.-_-...Not into a sack of potatoes. .... *Snorts*

She would probably go back home or something... or try to finish Aang's job if he dies. I don't know, I never really thought about it, but I highly doubt that she would jump into a guy's arms. (sack of potatoes XDDD)
Doesn't he seem stalkerish though? I mean... no wonder the gang can't forget him... he's kinda creepy. -___- Now, it's Azula who is the creepy one. XD Buuuut... I think that's beside the point.

No, that's true! xD Zuko with his swords and and shouts and Avatar-gimmes are a bit creepy if you don't know his backstory...If I were Sokka, I'd hit Zuko with my boomerang again and again to get him to quit.-_- Azula has a bit more of a responable apperance than Zuko right now...o.O I think Aang understands Zuko a bit from the Blue Spirit, but Katara and Sokka - especially Sokka, should be like 'ahhhh!' at Zuko.xD Or at least 'why do you keep following us? Restraining order! xD'. I guess because Aang is the Avatar it isn't unusual to want to kidnap him, like Zhao?o.o But still, I'd think he were creepy. I mean: Azula: Please, come with me. Zuko:Come!! Me: o.o You smell like potatoes. *Saunters over to Azula* xD It's kind of hilarious when you think about it...I don't ever remember Aang, Sokka, or Katara shout: 'GO AWAY!!' to Zuko...xD Huhn...xD Edit: Oh so true. (I didn't make it, can't remember who did). You guys explain things too well. I have nothing to add. LOVE it. xD I saw it before and saved it on my computer. It speaks wisdom beyond 12 years of age, I'll give ya that. -_- XD

Yeah I know they were embarassed. I'm just basically saying that they are immature (or inexperience) in the relationship department. It's not bad. Just sayin... Well I should hop at their ages they would be inexperienced in relationships. There is nothing to say or support that a Zutara relationship would be any different, other than what is created in the fandom.
