once again, I am in the minority. Oh well. I'm old. I think Toph was a jerk, don't care too much for episodes filled with emo Zuko. A little emo is okay. But for goodness sake, Zuko is moodier than a girl on PMS and it's tiring to watch at times. And it would be one thing if he matured a bit after facing issues. But in many ways he hasn't. He's still stomping away from Uncle when he doesn't get his way (i.e. the lightning issue at the end of "Bitter Work" when iroh wouldn't shoot lighting at him and Zuko got all pissy) I kind of like being in the minority though. I love your comment on Zuko! XD *exalts* I agree that Toph's attitude is blunt and a bit naive. But, I like her because the fact that she is blunt. I don't approve of her teaching style at all. Toph is interesting to me because she isn't really exposed to the world. Maybe that's why she acts so naive. -__- I agree with you 110% about Zuko. He is moody, and no one seems to want to admit that. It gets tiring after a while because it seems that he'll never grow up. @.@

Although I thought young Zuko was adorable, older Zuko has been miserable for so long his face has gotten hard-looking. My cousin said he wears his pain on his face.). That's why he's fan-girled to death.

I like him as a character and his addition to the show, but I don't like him like a fangirl. If anything, I like his cousin more. I'm a Lu Ten fangirl. >.> What?

A relationship would be good for both Zuko and Mai. If they grow up together, they'll do it faster and it would make both thier lives better in many ways. But I am starting to get very annoyed at the over emo-ness of both Zuko and Mai.They could benifet greatly from each other and I see alot of charachter development in thier relationship.

It may be a small minority.. but there's at least 2 of us in it.. emo Zuko makes me twitchy... Sorry to all Zuko-Lovers.. it's just my personal opinion. Edit: Oops.. I missed Almighty's response.. I guess there are 3 of us..

But.... Mai is not emo. She doesn't show any emotion. Her calm and collective attitude may go well with Zuko's rash and emo-ness. Gotta edit your numbers cami... there should be 3. XD Btw, welcome back! I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner, I hope now would be alright.

Thanks.. It's good to be back. Yep I just up'd our little group to 3 in my previous.. we're small but mighty..
I agree with what you said (or maybe it was Amira) about Zuko's pain making his face look hard. There's a scene in The Storm where I think that's more true than in any other scene -- right before the lightning strikes his ship as he's remembering playing on the grassy hilltop. And it is true.. he was an adorable little kid -- if something of a mama's boy -- but that cute little kid is sometimes hard for me to see in the current Zuko. I will say that getting rid of the ponytail has done a lot to soften up his look though..

lol. That was Amira's post. ;D
Zuko does wear his pain which, in a way, seems like he's trying to get everybody to pity him. -___- I know that's harsh, but that's what I think. I hope he does mature though, I would respect his character a lot more if/when he pops his bubble.

Yeah, now that I think about it Mai isn't emo. But I do agree, she can calm him. I think this will be very peaceful pairing. And Maiko is no nonsense. Very serious. That's what I like about it.

I kind of like being in the minority though. It's a lot more comfortable (not so crowded!) XD Plus, those in the minority are usually very cool to discuss with...XD (I am minority too). Emo Zuko is tiring to watch. I wish he'd learn from his past actions a bit more before he acts on his future actions...XD I am number 4 in ze group!! >D I think Mai could handle Zuko well. I mean....It's the female characters, to me, who show a lot of extra patience or calm that go well with Zuko. I really hope Mais role is explored more in the upcoming episode... **Actually, I can't handle Zuko fangirls. Aang fangirls, Sokka fangirls- but Zuko? Meh, no. XD You say one thing about Zuko- that he may not be so hot, and then KA-BOOM!, you are bashing the banished Prince...Zuko fangirls are large: no wonder there are so many Azula haters. O.0 Anyone who even shouts at Zuko is the enemy. XD Oui...**

I'm #5! I love Zuko to death, and I do fangirl over him, but I mostly fangirl an older version of him were he has dealt with his problems and moved past them. I won't deny that I'm attracted to angst, but I like more mature angst--world-weary angst I love (like Jeong Jeong's), bratty teenage angst I hate. Zuko is a mix between the two, but after three years with Iroh he should be more world-weary and less bratty teenager if he's still going to be angst-ridden at all. The boy's got problems he needs to work out. I don't fangirl over Zuko nearly as much as I have other characters from other shows*coughGAMBIT&PYRO&QUICKSILVERcough*. He was incredibly interesting first season when he was angrier. His interest value has waned a bit for me though as he's shifted into this mode of sullen depression. I was really hyped about "Zuko Alone," and then when it aired I wasn't as impressed with it as I thought I would be (or how the majority of the fandom was). Zuko's past was cool, yes...but I wasn't really interesting. I was far more interested in learning more about Toph than learning more about Zuko. I have a really off-topic question for you guys: is Smellerbee a girl? I always thought s/he was, but then I watched "Jet" again and I wasn't sure. I've watched the episode 3 times since then and I'm still not sure.

I think Smellerbees a guy...
...
Yeah, I think...XD I like your honesty in your post too: learning more about Toph was an equal intrest with Zuko for me. XD
....
Yeah, a boy....(I think?? P,O)

But Smellerbee's body looks like a young girl's, and her/his voice actor's female...it's only her/his face that isn't girly.
I want to pair Smellerbee with Jet for a fanfic...and that only works if Smellerbee's a girl!

Hmm...XD But wasn't Smellerbee still a kid? So maybe the growth for voice hadn't...happened... X( Now I am confused-!! XD Smellerbee could be...a girl... This is perplexing. X( Did anyone ever say 'he' or 'she' to Smellerbee, really reaaaaaaaly fast? So fast it could hardly be noted? XD

I think Smeller-bee's a boy, his face looks like it. But his voice actor is female though.
But anyway, the Maiko pairing is a very decent, serious pairing. This could work well in canon. Lot's of angst and drama and it meets the fluff standards well. A pairing has to have fluff to be decent, but it doesn't have to hae a mountian of it. Maiko has enough fluff.
