Which is why I'm 75/25 over the issue, with the majority of me deep down going, "Oy, they'll probably do it that way," and the 25% that is just screaming, "This is way too sloppy...they haven't dissapointed me yet, maybe they've got something great planned."
I really and truley cannot believe that they would sacrifice such a huge and important part of Aang's character just for this when they really didn't have to. Why not put in some cloning or time travel (not literally...) instead of taking away Jean Grey's powers for good?
Call it pure faith, but I, deep down, can't convince myself they would make that sacrifice when it's so unnecessary and outright damaging to Aang's character.

Good for you. Keep the faith. I truly hope you turn out right. Cause the alternative is just pitiful. I wonder why? Why do I think the alternative would be pathetic? Because in a broad sense, if they just forget about the AS all together, then it was pointless melodrama to bring it up in the first place. On the other hand, if Aang gets the AS, or equivalent power, by being "fueled by love", it is the cheesy DBZ/Disney route, which casts off responsible storytelling and leaves gaping loopholes for the sake of momentary gratification. Personally, if he chooses to give up the AS for Katara, then I'd prefer not to see him having the godly one-on-one combat with Ozai ending. He would be relegated down to the point of a very versatile, but average powered bender, and would have to rely on others to take on more powerful and experienced specialists in a single bending art. After all, it is presumably his connection to the past Avatar's which make him such a prodigy, learning to bend with much less effort than most. Take that away, and he should lose more than just the huge AS power up. I just find it sad that the "love story" is deemed inevitable, for the sake of appeasing the audience, or a portion of it(writers included it seems). It always bores me when such things are added out of obligation or habit to sell the story. Do all people really have such a narrow view of happy endings, that it must fit into a cookie-cutter design?

Lun and Yice, you two both have good points. But this is a cartoon. The ATLA creators are adding the AS vs. Katara thing for depth (how boring would kataang be without all that drama, no offense to the katangs.) This show will have a happy fairy tale ending, or if Mike and Bryan are actually very, very, smart people, they may turn the 'love is the greatest and most wonderfullest thing in the world and friendship saved the day' thing into something really intriguing and great! And the whole Toph loves Sokka thing........well...I doubt Sokka is just gonna leave Suki for Toph and if Suki's dead than here comes Ty Lee (if they kill of Ty Lee too and Toph get's all 'I shall make you fel better' on Sokka like Katara did on Aang in the serpents pass then I will beat my head on the wall. But what are the chances of that?

I just chuckle a bit when I see your opinions. I would love to see how Aang wins this war without that power-up. Bah, Im sure the creators will mold this in a way that hopefully will make most people somewhat satisfied xD

An ending that offers Shallow Satisfaction with a big power battle, punishment of evil, reward of the goodies and a lovey-dovey cheescake scene sells much better than Deep Fulfillment ever will. Weclome to America! Would you like Fries with that?

To make it easier, do you really think that the way Aang should go is the only true way?

To make it easier, do you really think that the way Aang should go is the only true way? Hell no. There are countless paths he can take. What I'm talking about are the most likely horribly cheesy and overused story devices that this show could very well end up employing. It would be a terrible disappointment if things turn out in such manner, but I still predict cheap teen soap opera melodrama in the future before any kind of fulfilling and original storytelling.

Everything is overused buddy, its just that whatever is used Im sure the creators can do good and make a good story *Sigh* No offense, but as long as you get a happy Kataang ending, would loopholes, believability, suppression of character or any elements of bad writing really get you down? Think that through before you answer it. If you get plenty of Kataang filler throughout season three, would you be by bothered by how the rest of the story progressed?
