I guess Ozai needed some alone time to collect this thoughts now that he knows that the Avatar was here, instead of just random Earth/Water nation peasants? I mean, the threat level has suddenly gone up now, right?
Zuko didn't say anything insulting, no, but it was still bad news. Sort of a "don't shoot the messenger" situation, you know?

But what reason did he have to dismiss him at that point? Zuko's tone was cold, but he hadn't really said anything bad...or...given that Azula was laying in wait at the time...anything he didn't know... You know I noticed that too. But I guess I kind of thought it was showing what incredibly thin ice Zuko had been on all along. Also, I think Ozai was shocked and furious to learn he's most favored child had lied to him. That they'd lied to him together (two against one in his mind?). I got the idea from the beginning of that scene that Ozai had never been sincere in his newfound interest in Zuko -- just veiled contempt. @zerg: We've actually talked about that war meeting and what effect it might have had on Zuko's decision. I'm convinced the turning point came there and irritated that we didn't get to see it. Still holding out hope for a flashback though. But yeah, they were all prepared for the invasion. Just not for the fact that the avatar would be leading it.

I think the meeting was about what Ozai plans to do with the power of the rapidly approaching comet. Sozin wiped out an entire race with it and he was only mostly evil...imagine what Ozai's going to do.

I think you guys are making too much about the meeting I mean they are fighting a war that spands the entire war it would seem to me that war meeting would occur on a weekly basis and I don't know if I can talk about this since it is a WAT SPOILER so don't read any more if you don't want to find out
I believe that Zuko would have told the Gaang anything major that was discussed at that meeting to gain their trust

^ If it was a weekly meeting than Zuko would have know about it.

The point I was making was that meetings would occur pretty often during wartime

Everyone has interesting points. I'm not going to join in the debate right now, but i do have something to post relating to the confrontation scene. You see, i like to write songs about Avatar (mainly about Zuko of course ) and I've written one from Zuko's POV during the scene where he confronts his father. So i wanted to post a link to the words, which are on my account at fanfiction.net, in case anyone should want to take a look. No pressure or anything of course, but here you go. (I hope you like it, if you decide to check it out.) www.fanfiction.net/s/3882990/8/From_the_Ashes

Did any of u guys notice that after Aang kisses Katara, she looks really sad. Why do think she's like that? Is it because she likes someone else or is it because she's sad that Aaang might not come back? ?_?

^ mybe aang hadn't brushed his teeth
The eclipse is so far the single greatest epiosed ever.... I won't hear ne thing otherwise my ears r closed.... The main thing that made this episode great is the scene in my siggy *drool*
I'm sure the meeting wud've hav been to disscuss plans for the invasion... think about the whole palace city was evacuated that's no easy feat it wudda required planning there are serious logistical matters here.... And the meeting wud also hav discussed where Ozai was gonna be who wud be gaurding him etc there was also the planning for the positioning of the airships etc........ There were a lotta things that had to be disscussed that meeting was for the fate of the nation ...

^ I always thought it was odd that Azula did not make plans to capture the Avatar whom she was practically expecting. Its also odd that the Firelord didnt get wind of the fact that Aang was swooping all over the Palace. I mean the whole point of him being so near in the first place as Sokka explains it is so that he can still lead his people. Isnt he at all curious to know how the invasion is proceeding? Sorry admirality. No disrespect to Ozai intended.

It's very touching and I think it conveys Zuko's feelings and what he's endured beautifully.

Aside from Sozin's Comet, these two eps are the best eps in the series, IMO. They were just so actiony, surprising, and epic. I lurved it so much.
Let's not forget Kataang and Zuko turning over to the good side.

I love these episodes. All those minor characters coming back for the invasion is awesome. Sokka and his crappy speech is so endearing. Appa's armour. Toph's helmet. Azula's taunting of Sokka(I love Sokka . But the highlight for me as a huge Zuko fan is the knumbskull's decision to leave the palace, leave Mai and join the avatar. Zuko kneeling down before his mother's portrait and promising to make things right is very touching. Of course, his confrontation with Ozai is amazing. He finally realizes that his father is and has been so very wrong in so many ways. I was so proud when Zuko acknowledged that he has been listening to Iroh(with a smile on his face to boot). I was impressed with Zuko's determination to say his piece no matter what Ozai did. The revelation about Ursa made me cry. To think that there's a glimmer of hope that his mother's alive. He'll cling to that until he knows one way or the other. Lastly, Zuko redirecting Ozai's lightning is amazing. Ozai was completely taken aback. That creep was perfectly fine with murdering his own son in cold blood(of course, we already knew that, didn't we?). The whole scene is emotional and beautiful. Most of all, it's a payoff for all the Zuko fans who had faith in him all along.
