So tell me, Melis, I'm dying to know. . . does the book actually say what happened in the cave?! ;D In a way! And I quote: "What can we do?" she turned toward me. Just then her light went out. Here we are in pitch dark with no hope of ever getting out, except to believe in the legend. To believe in love. I'm just going to go for it. Come on Aang, just be brave. What do you have to lose? Just lean in and...
Whoa! What's that path of light on the ceiling? I guess love really will show us the way!So I'm guessing they didn't kiss in the Cave of Two Lovers or if they did, then I guess they told the writer not to include it for some reason? Oh well. XD The book is very cute. Aang's pov is ADORABLE. Especially when he talks about how he feels happy the the Gaang is like his family, and how much their love and support really helps him out.

^The Aang book is out already?!
That's great! I had no idea they'd release it before the given date. And this gives me hope for Azula's book... the end of June is too far away...
Karma for the report, Melis! Definitely going out and getting a copy tonight.

Yup, it's out already! Like I said before, I was really surprised when I saw it on the shelf. I checked to see if they had any other of the Earth Kingdom Chronicles book, but all I saw were the Aang ones. I could've missed Azula's by mistake though. So give it a check out just in case it might've come out a month early or so.
Thanks for the karma! Definitely get it! If you're an Aang lover than you'll enjoy the book. It also comes with this 3-D glasses for the 3-D comic book inside. It basically depicts the events in Book 2. I found it funny that when they showed the Zuko and Azula vs Aang and Katara fight, Zuko was wearing the clothes he wore in "Zuko Alone", and Azula was wearing her normal attire instead of the Dai Li one.
@the Blue Chibi: Yup! I wish they would've shed some light in it. I guess that kiss between Aang and Katara in CoTL will always be a mystery! Thanks for the karma! Also, the ending scene for book 2 is different. Instead of Aang laying unconcious on Appa's back, he's awake and Katara tells him that Iroh helped them escape. I guess that must've been part of the original script until they scrapped it out, perhaps? Or maybe the writer just decided to write it in for the heck of it.

^'Welcome for the karma, and I'm definitely getting it! Aang's my second-favorite... I adore his resolve; his careful balance of fun and responsibility. I'm really excited about it being out so early -- this way, I can surprise my mom ( who's actually a bigger Aang fan than me )! And, as much as I would love to see Azula's book out this early, I doubt it is... I just checked Barnes and Noble's website. The Aang book is in-stock at the nearest B&N, but not Azula's. But there's still hope for an early release, even if it's by a week or so. I'll take it!
I was wondering about that 3-D comic. And now I'm left wondering about the clothing error! My guess is that the comic was illustrated before the Season Two finalé aired, so the author had no knowledge of Zuko and Azula's new attire.

Unbelievable ~ now we're going to be driven nuts wondering if these things are tidbits of info or merely mistakes. . . Thanks again!

I looked around my Book's a Million website, it said that the book was in stock. I'm hoping I can get it today, that is, if BAM will EVER pick up their phone. Jeez, who are they talking to!? > _ <;
But goodness, from what you discribe, that sounds really cute, and something I'd really want to have. Although, just out of fangirl ceriousity, you said that Aang relives the episodes in his own point of view. Um, would there happen to be anything on...The Chase? Maybe with what happened between Zuko, Iroh and Azula interacting with him? Or maybe when Iroh was shot? I've been dying to know since I first heard this getting ready to come out. If you could quote anything, I'd really love it. Thanks!

How weird... well, thanks & karma for helping shed some light on this mystery anyway. Here's my guess, and be warned: it's a shot in the dark... I think Mike, Bryan, and the author of this book are probably leaving it open-ended on purpose. They're letting us decide for ourselves what went on in the cave. Open to interpretation, as it were. Mike and Bryan treat the romance in their series very carefully. If you want Aang and Katara to've kissed, they kissed. If you don't, or don't find it practical with all things considered, they didn't. That's what I'm getting from it, because they just won't say one way or the other. I really think they don't want to step on anyone's toes. Leaving it open-ended would ideally satisfy all sides. Of course, we know it doesn't. This fandom wants answers; concrete proof! Words from Mike and Bryan themselves. But I actually think it's a creative way to cater to everyone.

@general Overlord Zoisaito: Aang is my number 1 favorite, with Katara being my 2nd. That's cool that your mom is an Aang fan! I think my mom secretly likes Appa the most. And yeah, you might be right. Although if the Aang book came out earlier than its release date, then there's a chance that the same thing will happen with the Azula book. I'm not really sure if I'll pick it up, so I'll look forward to hearing about it! As for the 3D comic, that's probably true. I didn't even know these books would be about the characters reliving the events in Book 2, so I'm guessing that the writer was given information about what happened and probably didn't know that there were wardrobe changes and whatnot. As for the kiss between Aang and Katara, that probably works. I guess it's just one of those things they've left open to interpretation. Although a second attempt at a kiss wouldn't be all too bad at all. *cough*@the Blue Chibi: They could be tidbits! I wouldn't doubt it, but for now I'll just take it as a mistake. You're welcome once again. If you guys want me to quote or let you know anything from the book, I'll be more than happy to! Thanks! It is really cute! Veeery cute. As for your fangirl curiosity, there is a chapter on The Chase. While interacting with Azula and Zuko, Aang kept saying that he was feeling sorry for Zuko because he had such a powerful sister who hated his guts. Here's some quotes from the chapter: When fighting against Azula and Zuko: Just back away slowly. The last thing I need is to face two Firebenders at the same time. Still, it doesn't seem like they're going to fight me as a team. They don't seem to like each other very much. It must be tough for Zuko to have a sister who seems so coldhearted. Wait a second - do I actually feel sorry for Zuko? Is that possible? "I can see you two have a lot of catching up to do," I said. "So I'll just be going."
--
I can't escape. I'll have to battle them both. Zuko looks more anxious than me. Is he afraid of his sister? Azula is just smiling -- her smile makes my skin crawl. There's no way out of this without fighting -- I just hope I have the strength to make it out alive. Azula just struck -- but not me. I'm okay. She's attacking Zuko! Why are they so bent on attacking each other? Nevermind, there's no time now. I have to protect myself. Actually, I think the only thing keeping me alive this long is their desire to fight each other -- they keep forgetting I'm here!On Iroh: But it turned out that she wasn't finished quite yet. She blasted her uncle with a bolt of lightning, and before we could get her back she vanished. Katara offered to help heal Iroh with her powers, but Zuko refused her help. I can't believe he won't even work with us to help someone he loves. He probably feels humiliated and frustrated by having a sister who's trying to destroy him. But why can't we work together against her? It's strange - for a long time I feared Zuko, and now I kind of pity him.

General OZ: yeah, that's pretty much the way I've been figuring they do it ~ never committing to a specific ship. 'S fine with me, I guess... shame on me for wanting such picky little details! If you guys want me to quote or let you know anything from the book, I'll be more than happy to! ^ Thanks again ~ this is really sweet of you. From what you've posted here and in the Kataang board, I have to say I'm really surprised at the quality of the writing. Usually spinoffs get the short end of the stick and the writing is cheap to the point of being painful to read... but this actually sounds quite good. Can't wait to see what Azula has to say for herself.

The books sounds pretty cool, ill probably pick it up when I can find the time. But it turned out that she wasn't finished quite yet. She blasted her uncle with a bolt of lightning, and before we could get her back she vanished. Didn't Iroh get hit by a fireball? I guess the books can't be considered canon.

Of course! I don't know if anyone else got the Aang book as of yet, so until then I wouldn't mind typing out anyone's interested in that's addressed in the book. And I too, was surprised at the quality of the writing. I really loved the way the writer wrote Aang's pov, so very true to his character, IMO. I'm still reading it, since I mostly skipped around to look for some of the Kataang good scenes. Oooh, Azula's will probably be very interesting. Maybe we'll even get some off screen scenes between her and the other two members of the Dangerous Ladies. ina300: Yeah, I think Iroh was hit by a fireball. Saying that he was shot by lightning was probably just an error. For awhile though, I thought that's exactly what Azula did - hit Iroh with lightning, but rewatching "The Chase" last night, I noticed that when it hit Iroh's chest, the flames became red. I wouldn't say that the books aren't specifically canon, but just another serving of Avatar Universe Pie for us to chew on and enjoy.

Melis: Aang was my favorite during Season One, but that changed during Season Two... it's a bit obvious who stole the spot from him. I'm still a big fan of his, though, and hope he makes a full recovery from that dreadful lightning-strike. Katara's right up there, too, and Zuko. Yes, my mom adores Aang... I sketched a picture for her, and she put it up on the refrigerator like she used to do when I was a kid. She thinks he's a "cute little monk"! Your mom's an Appa fan? Mine, too -- she loves the BFF vibe between Aang and him. As for the Azula book: that's what I'm hoping for! I'll no doubt be writing up a report and posting it for those who don't buy the book. But that's assuming I can actually put the book down... the Aang book seems very IC; I can only imagine what Azula's will be like! I think you're right about the comic. Limited info' = continuity errors sometimes. Thank you so much for posting those excerpts! *'nother karma!* I would ask for more if I wasn't going out to search for the book tonight. @blue: I'm no 'shipper myself, but I admit to curiosity. The uproar they'd get if they committed to a 'ship would be staggering, so I think, in the end, they're doing the right thing this way. I agree about the quality of writing, especially when you look at the intended age-range. 7-10? Being twice the age of the high-end, I'm loving the writing... it's not watered-down or goofy. Very satisfying for a "kids' book". Didn't Iroh get hit by a fireball? I guess the books can't be considered canon. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was established that the blast was fire... hmmm... The sound-effect was that of fire, anyway.

@general: To be honest, I didn't like Azula all that much when I first started watching Book 2, but the more the episodes progressed I couldn't help but love her. I think that Aang will recover from his injuries, but I think he's gonna go through a lot of turmoil and strife in the upcoming season. And that's cute! If I could I'd sketch an Appa for my mom, but I think she'd rather have an Appa plushie. I need to get my mom to watch more Avatar. You must try to put it down to give us a report on it! What I liked about Aang's book the most was that he was very IC: being cute and goofy and that insight into his emotions from the different situations he's been in. And you're welcome! Always willing to give a helping hand! Good luck searching for it! I'm sure there'd still be some more in stock.
