I knew they trashed the house. It was implied that was their goal in the episode, but I didn't actually see what lu described. I'm glad I didn't. The whole thing was bad enough as it was. I thought it was pretty funny when they trashed Chan's house the look on Chan's face was priceless.

It's not to say I hated this episode- I don't think I would ever hate Avatar- but it didn't do anything for me. I realize it was just a lot of fluff, really, but it sort of killed the whole 'Avatar is pretty deep story, right?' kind of feeling.. I'm sure the season is going well, I mean I've only seen four of the episodes from the new season, but that whole episode just put me out of the mood. If that makes any sense? I guess if I watched Avatar more these days it would be worth it, and the plot would make more sense, but from what I've been seeing in the most recent season, the whole series is going a bit downhill. :/ It almost feels like there's no more 'obsession' or 'need to watch', because the reasons why we all watched Avatar in the first place aren't there anymore. Ooh, that was really depressing- no more of that! However, I did crack up when Zuko tried to give Mai the shell. Something about him trying to be a romancist just kills me.

I think this episode was more important for Zuko in showing how he has been with his choice and seeing how it effects the people he with.
Of course we want more meaning and questioning...heck after this episode, people were playing around with the shipping idea of Ty Lee and Zuko. So in by no mean is this a bad epiosde, just people were expecting more out it....what those expectaions are, I have no idea but I would like to be clue in.
I laugh at the idea about the Breakfast club injection in this episode....so what dose that make the gaang then....I see the same injection in them but no one is questioning about it.

I was making an arguement that you can also see a influence of sort in the "breakfast club" with the gaang but no one bring it up, but in this episode with the fire nation kids...it overmention.

I thought it was a very 'meh' episode...and considering how big a Zuko fan I am I guess that means it was pretty bad...

Wow, I didn’t know everyone has such a passionate dislike for "The Beach". Some of the dialogue and character interaction was choppy but, overall, I loved it. It's the kind of Avatar episode I really like. Lots of funny and lots of character stuff.

I have to say that I disliked it...alot. Sorry. But like everyone has already said, the whole episode was really sloppy, as if they were rushed and had to throw random scenes together. And I don't like how Zuko had this "huge" life altering moment where he realized he's unhappy.....and then does nothing about it. You'd think that as soon as he realized he was unhappy, he'd do something about it. Yeah he does, but that's episodes down the line. So what does he do? He snuggled up with Mai and called it a day. What the heck?!?!

I thought it was alright. Sure, it wasn't a SotN or DoBS, but it wasn't all bad. I just watched it knowing it was a fan service/character interaction episode and enjoyed myself. The joys of lowered expectations!

I put this episode as one of the worse of the series, but it's watchable.

I'm sure I've said this before but I think the Beach was one of the best Avatar episodes. It's defiantly my favorite.

I agree. It is an amazing episode. After putting up with the Awakening/Headband/Painted Lady (I did enjoy Sokka's Master though) i was glad to finally find a REALLY good avatar ep. The end of Book 2 was a bit of a letdown. The bit where Zuko goes up to his old holiday house, and has those flashbacks of him playing with his mum... so heartwarming It was also interesting watching Azula show some sadness at not earning her mum's love. Azula does have traits of humanity in here (though these are kinda hard to find among all that power lust and insanity)
