^ I wouldn't call it "filler." I would call it... an episode. An arc is something that runs through all episodes. The arc of surviving in the Fire Nation and getting closer to the Fire Lord's palace is very present here. You know what Zuko's "Can't you see we're busy?" line reminds me of? Zhao's "Now, as I was saying..." after Hahn's pathetic ambush. Must be a Fire Nation thing. I think it's all the so faerie taleish. There's such a low chance that you actually love a person from your childhood that Zuko and Mai's relationship seems like they are just playing around! It is VERY sudden that they are in love again...relationship's that big take longer than 5 weeks since that is how long Aang was out. Not for teenagers. They're like the couples I used to see in the hallways in high school, making out between classes, after knowing each other for maybe a week.

I don't disagree that the headband episode was filler, but I really enjoyed it. I believe certain elements were quite purposeful, such as humanizing the fire nation (at least the kids), whereas the whole dance party thing was just a little.. random . That's not to say it wasn't good, it just didn't help along the plot. Needless to say, I also enjoyed Sokka's beard...

Nobody implied they're in love. They're just dating.
Oh, and I'm not abandoning Zuko because he made one bad choice, I'm abandoning Zuko because his bad choice (and let me take this moment to point out that there were a considerable numbert of bad choice made throughout the series, not one, and those didn’t bump me off the bandwagon) was a jarring betrayal inconsistent with just two episodes previous, and because he's getting worse not better (a hit on a child??) AND because he's gotten boring. Same-ol’ angst, same-ol’ indecision. Buck up and pick already, spineless worm. XP
Edit: Haha. Numbert. I like that error too much to fix.

*Chuckles* I wonder if it will stay glued to his face forever like he said! Lurve that! (I know it won't do to the preveiws for the next epi)
Edit: I AM A MOMO!

I actually find Zuko's confusion and indecision interesting. But that's just me. The big problem with these episodes? Not enough bending. Dammit, I want to see some bender on bender action, and not just some lame nameless firebenders attacking the Gaang only to get wiped out. I want to see Azula shooting lightning and Zuko using fire whips again.

Well note...you made it into territory of place that not to found of the avatar and it pretty much what is done right in the story. Your trying to blend in and note where just on episode two going to three so for the moment...everything is calm, of course before the storm.

I want to see Azula shooting lightning and Zuko using fire whips again. Yes! Of course! I'm missing that too! And, of course, Iroh. The fact that you didn't even see him in the Awakening is disconcerting and the Headband was even more so. I know they have a good reason, it's just... Anyway, I haven't given up on Zuko yet. Maybe because I'm a hopeless optimist, or something. Granted, if he does redeem himself, he has a long way to go and he's making that journey longer every moment, but I tend to believe it's possible. And if it's not, well then, watching Zuko is still entertaining because it's like a multi-car pile up: it can only get worse with every impact.

Well...........thisa epi was interesting. Maiko's starting to grow on me. Just barely. I thought it was pretty funny when Zuko went "Can't you see we're busy?". *snickers* Anyway, I so knew Iroh and Zuko were gonna be in a rift. I did think Iroh would say at least one phrase.
S&K being Aang's parents- knew that was gonna happen. Seriously, I did. I saw the synopisis and the YTV clip of The Headband and assumed S&K were gonna act as Aang s parents! ;D
I really want the Gaang to break Iroh out of jail! It's happened so many times in fanfics (granted those are FAN fics, but still...).

I'd like to see the Gaang break out Iroh, too...I think it would provide a lot of dramatic tension, especially because Toph considers Iroh to be a friend (I think...) Can't you just see Toph standing her ground (no pun intended ) against the rest of the Gaang (particularly Sokka) in helping out "his royal tea-loving kookiness" (I love that phrase)

I hope Toph breaks Iroh out of the cell. ^^ I can see her marching right up to the prison and flinging all the guards out of her way like, "STFU N00BS WHERE'S MY BFF IROH?"

^^OMG, I was thinking about that last night! About how cool it would be if the Gaang broke Iroh out of jail and Toph used her amazing metal bending powers. Then Iroh could be Aang's firebending teacher! I love it.

Then Iroh could be Aang's firebending teacher! I love it. I hope Iroh gets to teach Aang...I think it would be really good, not only for Aang, but for Iroh as well... Aang will get to learn firebending from a wise, focused, disciplined, but loving master (a lot like Gyatso). At the same time, Iroh will get to pass on his skills to a student who is receptive, eager, affectionate and (most importantly) trustworthy. I'd really like to see that... (I feel the wheels of fanfiction turning in my brain....)

I'd love for the Gaang to break Iroh out, that'd be cool! I can totally picture Toph doing it, she seems to adore Iroh and I'm pretty sure the rest of them have a fond feeling for him too. But, my prayers are still on Zuko, although I realize the chances are not good.

Man, all this talk about FLAMERS and FLAMIO had me giggling through the entire thing. It's like the writers specifically found something stupid to work with and did it. I wasn't too fond of the contrast between Aang's light-hearted adventure and Zuko's deep, emotional trauma but I like the definition the character's are going. Mai is just... moody, Zuko is enjoying himself, and Azula is still all cunning and crafty.
But I don't know about this assassin guy. Everytime I picture him from the season 3 trailer where he shoots fire out of his head just makes me think of a crazy DRAGON BALL Z episode or something.

I seen it and it really gives you and idea on the society in the fire nation so far.
