Thanks for the help. *love* (...not, ah, you know...stalker-ish in any way. o.o") Do veterans care that n00bs (i.e. me) use...er...smilies and a bunch of faces a lot? ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png) Because they're basically ingrained into my everyday vocabulary. ^^" Oh, wait. Am I a newb or a n00b? *keels over* I apologize. ;_; I did read everything in this thread before I replied...because I hate doing something wrong. In all the forums I'm in, "newb" and "n00b" are interchangeable. I have to say, though...DH is one of the most confusing forums I've ever been on (not, like, dissing it or anything like that). It's cool how everything is organized though. ^^ But it's kind of nervewracking for me, and I feel scared to post anything, really. o.o"

What if they've been here for like 8 months and don't post much where does the line between n00b, member, veteran and pro get drawn? By date or post. I'm just really curious.

I consider newbs to be new members. Once you've been here 8 months, a lot of posts or not, you're a regular member. If you post a lot, maybe you'll be more so to veteran. N00bs are the people who draw attention to themselves by disobeying rules or saying or doing stupid things. XP

I think posts has something to do with it. WAIT! I haven't been here for 8 months, evil para! You called me a newb. I say the minimum to not be a newb is a week. minimum to be a veteran should be 8 months.

I'm just really curious. j I just want to clafy this for everyone. This is aleast my view on the subject Many people are new here. But only a few are noobs. Noobs being a derogatory slam on someone who is not writing, participating , behaving and carrying on in manner that the forum expects of its members. Or someone who spams ,adds nothing to the conversation or is general a pain in everyones side. People who think things through before they post and make a conscious effort to participate in a mature manner are not noobs. So no most new people aren't noobs in the sense I have used the word.

I say the minimum to not be a newb is a week. minimum to be a veteran should be 8 months. There's no real way, IMO, to say that someone is a veteran, regular, or n00b. It's possible for someone to be here for a year and still be a n00b. However, you're still a newb if you've been here for less than a month, IMO. Solely because you're getting to know the staff and members and the way the system works. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I just think the veterans of DH are the members that have been here for the longer periods, joining in early 2006 or in 2005. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) And yeah, posts have something to do with it. But those people who have been here a long time and don't post usually won't ever post again. If they've been here a while, they should have a fair amount of posts to say the least.

Nothing wrong with scaring us *cough* noobs. It keeps us on our toes, and makes us work harder to be known.

I don't know where else to post an introduction, so I hope this is a good place. Yes, I'm new. Sort of lurked around before biting the bullet and joining this forum. I figured, "Why not. It could be the last season of Avatar!" And I know there's plans for more seasons, but with a different cast? I cannot imagine such a thing.
Sorry. I'm rambling a bit. Anyway, I hope I didn't make any mistakes and if I need any help, hopefully I can ask around here.
*end nervous introduction*

Thanks for the welcome ILZ. I didn't want to post a new thread just to introduce myself. I sort of thought there would be a thread specifically for new members to introduce themselves, but I guess I shouldn't assume things based on other forums I hail from. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
