When you do something good, creative, worth while, etc.; people click a button called [Exalt] and that will give you karma.

Heh, I've been here for about a month or so, but you'll notice I have VERY few posts, even though I'm on every day. Some people talk, some people listen. You talk, I listen. Posts really shouldn't be a way of identifying someone's worth.

Well, yah may be learning a lot from surfing the boards, but posts demonstrate how much you contribute to the forum community. You've obviously dedicated a lot of time to the forum, but we don't really get to know about that unless you post.

You've obviously dedicated a lot of time to the forum, but we don't really get to know about that unless you post. I do see your point, but a lot of pressure is put on newbies to post, which causes things like double posts and spam that most definately do not help a newbie make a good name for him/her self.

But I don't think that Zink means post 4000 posts in two months. Contribute to discussions and don't be afraid to say what you think. Even if your debate/opinion is weak, you learn new points. Always listening and never talking keeps you from having any reputation or recognition. Sure, listening is a good habit to have so you don't omgwtf spam. But I prefer somewhat, active members and staff who post often, then those who seldom do.

^ I have to agree, my debates are always super weak((Blahh)) but it's still fun to be apart of it ^^ Post more often! It's fun that way, and it's fun to see what peeps have to say about your posts

As an apparent n00b (as you so spell it), conversations will spark if I am able to bring up thoughtful, long posts. Correct?
It just so happens that I have tried to spark up conversations with different members, but it doesn't seem that people are interested in reading what an apparent n00b has to say. It's rather bothersome for a decent post to just get overlooked whereas pointless threads are getting star treatment. (Pointless, in this case, means filled with spam) I'm pretty sure that most of the veterans with 1000+ post counts in a matter of weeks has been filling their post counts with spam or one sentence responses. I've been trying to make friends, but it seems that my posts are brushed to the side merely because my post count is not close to even 100.

Thyme- I don't know where this is occuring for you, but most of the time, especially on the Theories and CT boards, post count matters far less then post content.
FireMasterAzula, for instance, is now a mod in Theories when she has less than 600 posts.
When it comes to spammy threads, though, post counts are like street cred- if you already have a lot of post, nobody cares if you're spamming. But if you're just starting out and you're spamming, it seems like a desperate ploy for posts.
Actually, I think we all might do well to avoid spam...

I suppose. At first, I was hanging around in the theories board. It got really no where. I drifted off into the General Board where I tried to talk about sports to people. Also didn't work. I then hung out at the RB, which, to my understanding, has its own affair of problems.
I feel rather silly. Perhaps I should not burden anyone with my problems. Please forgive my rudeness beforehand.

^ No, you weren't rude at all.
I'm a little confused as to why you're having such trouble with getting notice, but let me know if it continues until you have 100 posts, okay? Maybe I can do something to help you out, I dunno.
(The General board may not be the best place to discuss sports- as a rule of thumb, athletics and that thar newfangled technology don't mix very well.)
