In your opinion, what was the best animated and furthermore, best detailed episode? I am looking at answers according to what you think of the style, the coloring, and the detail of the animation, not necessarily the fighting choreography.
We all know that our supreme icon's (aka Mike+Brian) worker bees animation team has gotten tired from their endless job of pleasing us, the whiney, complaining mama boys and fangirls (j/k guyz......well, to some of you. >_>)and their masters, and that their animation has gotten a little, er, edgy? We've discussed the badz before. But now let's focus on their past and glorious beginning days of animating Avatar!
To me, the best animated and detailed eppies where the first 8 episodes, "The Boy in the Iceberg" through "Avatar Roku (Winter Solstice:Part 2". I watched them this morning, and I never really took into consideration the superb job the animators did on the coloring, the light effect, and the emotions of the character art. On one personally note, I think that in the first eight episodes, Prince Zuko really acted and looked like a teenager, moreso than he did in the later episodes. Hehe, his voice sounded like it would crack more, but then he just got more, "grrrrrrrrr. I must restore my honor," in a more serious manner. But I know that has nothing to do with the animation, soooo... ^_^

I have to say either " Crossroads of Destiny" or "The Seige of the North pt 2" Both had beautiful art and magnificant lighting.

I would have to agree with Kana, Seige of the North Part 2 was very well detailed. They did a really good job with that episode.

I thought Southern Air Temple was pretty good. For some reason, it just sticks out to me... I think I like the colors lol
And CoD. Gotta love the lightning and... cosmic Aang thing going on. And that Azula eye shot with Aang was pretty sick, you gotta admit

Waterbending Master (how could you not LOVE the water fight?) Bato of the Water Tribe (Awesome Hand to Hand by Aang and Zuko) Blind Bandit (They won an award for this right?) The Drill (This too...)

You could say detailed and descriptive in two ways.
As I seen it, the most detailed episode plot wise was Zuko Alone. That episode plunged us with tons of information on who the character was in the past, and how it effected him in the future. It's the most detailed plot wise.
But for most detailed picture wise, I would say, the Guru. Why I say the Guru? The artwork was astounding, the the graphics were amazing, the colors blended softly but also shared an impact upon the screen. How they colored the night sky, or how they animated the flow of the water was incredible. Also the emotions of Aang were the most realistic I've seen of him.
Id say The Guru was the best episode Picture wise. And Zuko Alone detail wise.

I think they mean the artwork...to me....both Season finales take the cake...er....split it...I guess.....after that....every episode where it shows the inside of a palace, temple, mountain, or kingdom...all great looking

I honestly think the episode with the best animation overall is a tie between "The Spirit World" and "SotN Pt. 2."
The detail on Fang is incredible in 107 and the detail in the Spirit World in SotN2 easily rivals, if not surpasses, Fang.

To me, The Southern Air Temple has had the best animation out of the whole series. I watch that episode strictly for the fact that the animation is awesome.

Personally, I don't care for the way they look in that episode. They look...off to me. Just an opinion. I'd have to say The Deserter has my favorite visuals. The beautiful coloration in the beginning gets me every time I watch it, with it's appeasing use of orange shades and tints. The best use of animation for me was probably the fight in The Earth King. There's a moment when the guards send a flurry of square stones at the Gaang, and the animation for Toph and Aang deflecting them just looks aaaaaawesssssoooomme. There's also a little bit after that where Aang does this twirl with his staff that is animated so smoothly, I watch that part over and over because it just looks so good.

Gee, I can't believe nobody's mentioned "The Blind Bandit" yet! It won an award for animation, didn't it?
Well, having watched it again this morning, I can definately see why it deserved it. The character movements were extremely smooth, and the various angles used during Toph's butt-kicking at the end were just out of this world.

I mentioned it... i think the best animated eppie IMO is CoD. it had excellent camera angles (like when katara first attacked azula in the catacombs), lighting, and an awesome fighting scene 2 put season 2 to an end. my second choice would have been siege of the north part 2. there's so much detail in that eppie!
