IMO a few of first season episodes are just as pointless as the Great Divide, besides being used for minor character introductions, like Jet and Imprisoned. I've probably said it before, but when Great Divide first aired, I used to like it. I thought it was funny at the end when Aang made up the story. But that was in the good old days when Avatar aired all the time.

^^Ahh.....the good old days! It still airs alot on Nicktoons, but t hey play mostly the first and second seasons and if by chance you catch an episode from the third, it's before the eclipse.
They need to do another one of those "Every Episode of Avatar" marathons they did a while back. It was cool and when one of those "worst eppies" came on it was snack and potty time.
I must say that I can add Avatar Day and The painted Lady to my list of worst eppies to my list. Neither one of those tickled my fancy.

I don't know if 'worst' is the right way to describe this topic...it's probably more like 'least favourite'... There's a heap of episodes I don't watch...even during marathons...I'll go do something else until they're over. They're not exactly badly made or anything...no episode of Avatar really is...I simply don't much like them. Return to Omashu was on last night...didn't watch that... The Swamp is on tonight...probably won't watch that either...but I'll watch most of next weeks'... The Blind Bandit...Zuko Alone...The Chase...Bitter Work...probably the high point of season two for me

dragonflly - I've been seeing a lot of the end of S3 on Nicktoons actually. I know there's the regular time slot at 7pm that goes through all the episodes and then there's extras that are usually end of S3. My friend and I did an every episode marathon that same week so it was like Avatar overload (in a good way). But I know what you mean about the 'snack break episodes'. lol Our marathon lasted 5 days and I fell asleep during at least one a day. XD @nandi - Yeah, none of the episodes are that bad. Most of the least favorites have a few redeeming qualities - like I love in Avatar Day when Sokka goes "Boomerang! You do always come back!" or something, but it's not that great of an epi. End of S2 definitely the high point in the series for me. I watched Crossroads of Destiny yesterday and was basically shaking cause I was so excited. I get so into those episodes and that's what I love about Avatar. *sigh*

I STILL haven't watched that a second time...it's one of my 'potty break' episodes. Afterall...that's the episode where Mike and Bryan destroyed my Avatardness...

You don't like CoD?! *giant gasp* What part of it? Zuko choosing to stay with Azula? Aang barging in on Zutara?

It's not a BAD episode...it's a HEARTBREAKING one. Mike and Bryan tore out my heart and I don't ever wish to repeat the experience. It totally killed the Avatard in me and no amount of daddy-threatening or frog-talking-to or dragon-dancing or ninja-cosplaying could revive it. From that moment on I was no longer a fan of the show...I was simply a viewer...we all remember me boycotting it for almost a year, right? ...and of course the siding with Azula led to a whole mess of other things I didn't like...the canon never looked good again... But I still gots my FANON! Where anything is possible If it wasn't for the rich and exciting fanon...I probably wouldn't still be here. And why do people assume I'm pro-Zutara? Just because I'm anti-that-ship-I-cannot-name that doesn't make me pro-Zutara. If I'm pro anything it's future Toko...

Hehe I didn't mean that you were pro-Zutara - that's the one part of the episode that I don't like and when I start screaming at my TV for Aang to get out. But I agree that it was heartbreaking but I LOVE that. I love the intense emotion. I get really upset at the end, but it's a good upset for me. I'll admit it was a bad turning point in the series. All of the beginning of season 3 sucked for storyline. I do like some of those individual episodes, but they didn't work together and the feel of Avatar wasn't there. The different outfits and hairstyles made it weird, unfamiliar and un-Avatar too. Zuko was boring and mopey, and the gAang just hid and did pointless things. But I won't hold that against CoD.

I will Episode six...and sometimes four...are the only episodes from the first half of season three that I'll watch...I avoid fourteen and fifteen too...doesn't leave a whole heck of a lot...like I said...I went from fan to viewer PDQ.

Wow, The Boiling Rock 1 and 2 are in my top ten episodes of the whole series.
Like there's no character I really hate, there's no episode I really hate either. There are just those that I don't enjoy as much. I can even get a few laughs out of The Great Divide and Avatar Day. I know they're not the show's best, but they're not horrible. I find the Aang portion of NIghtmares and Daydreams silly(and not funny) but love the Zuko and Mai part. The Painted Lady is kind of blah, but again it has a few decent parts...mostly with Sokka.

Yeah pre-DoBS the only ones I like are Headband, Sokka's Master and Runaway (liked Puppetmaster at first but it's not as good when you know what's happening). Nightmares and Daydreams was never funny to me. It was such a waste. And Zuko/Mai is never good. Still I think they could have done a really good S3 after CoD. Maybe Zuko really being on Iroh's side and the viewer just not knowing it yet or something. (Okay that'd probably be dumb but I'd trust the writers to do something better.)

And Zuko/Mai is never good. *huggles kindred spirit* Though...that was the only interaction between them that I didn't completely dislike (and that should tell bacwas why I don't care for The Boiling Rock). She actually TRIED to help him there...she failed miserably, but she tried...she didn't just blow him off or try to shut him up. She cares for him, but she simply doesn't understand him... Of course the Aang side of that episode makes it completely unwatchable for me.

I wouldn't call saving his life and making sure he could continue to do what he needed to do, all while risking her own life and giving up her freedom a failure. The fact that she doesn't as of yet see where Zuko is coming from(she hasn't had the same eye opening experiences that Zuko has had and our boy Zuko isn't always eloquent ie the letter) and still risks it all for him is an amazing display of love. She might not get it yet, but she realizes that Zuko is determined to do what he's going to do. I believe that Mai thinks if Zuko's that hellbent on helping the avatar, he must have a good reason for it(which he doesn't tell her). She trusts him enough to take his word for things in the end and help him out.
Anyway, this isn't the place for Maiko discussion. Those who ship it see all the interaction one way, and those who don't see it another way. It's all good.
I feel unloved. I didn't get a hug.
Did you like the Zuko/Sokka parts, Nandireya? Their bonding and all the mini Iroh moments, Zuko's kindness and empathy for Sokka, his willingness and desire to help his new friend, Zuko matching Azula evenly etc. were all highlights for me(plus Mai's crowning moment of awesomeness).

Um...that wasn't in the episode in question... We need to be kindred in some way...I don't give my hugs out willy-nilly... It was an okay episode...and Zuko and Sokka is the greatest bromance of all times...but it was dragged out...it could have been a single episode (then Toph could have gotten her fieldtrip )...and Zuko and Azula had another evenly-matched battle in the very next episode...I don't dislike it...the bits I don't like just outweigh the bits I do...

Ah, I misread your post. Sorry. You were talking about NADD. I don't think anyone could have helped Zuko then.
