I really didn't like this episode much. I thought Katara's little speech to the village at the end was as bad as "you're beautiful when you hate the world." Awkward. I know the show is for 7+ but would it be such a ridiculous thing for someone to realize and point out that taking out the factory could be strategically helpful in their effort to win the WAR? No. You'd think Sokka would think about that. No. At least it could have added some relevance to the overall plotline if they'd thought about the sabotage aspect. The headband was animated well and funny. This one was a dud. Not as bad as The Great Divide, but nearly as. And the guy with the hat was one of the most annoying one-shot characters I've ever seen. And even worse because he was supposed to be comic. And I said this on another thread, but I think it bears repeating that they could have used some of this filler time to give us Mai and Zuko's back story as well as the probably much more awesome Water Tribe takeover of a Fire Nation ship. Getting more annoyed and more pessimistic by the episode.

You... hate... Toph? ... But- but why?... Ahem, could you explain why you hate Toph, please? Why is it so hard to understand why someone might hate Toph? Sorry, I was trying to be funny but plain sarcasm is more my style than over exaggeration. I'm not trying to sound rude by asking why you don't like Toph, I'm just curious since I mostly see people who dislike Katara or Zuko nowadays.

What the hell is wrong with me? What the hell is wrong with you? I was wrong about Appa being poisoned but that's no reason to fly off the handle like that; he looked ill, Appa was lying on his side and breathing heavily, he looked really sick to me.

I thought she said she wasn't posioning Appa, just making him look like he was sick? Yeah she lied, but she isn't the only one on the show who lies for a good cause. Yes she wasn't critized for being mean to Sokka, but they are siblings. The ones who usually critizes children for being mean to each other is their parents, one is no longer living and the other is getting ready for the invasion. Also, I get bothered when people say the PL should have been Katara's mom because it just doesn't make sense to me why Katara's mother would be a "helpful" spirit in a FN village and not in the South Pole. I liked the episode, but I thought the writers could have done a lot more with it. The reveal of Katara being the PL was waayyy to soon in the episode, even though I read the spoilers a couple days ago, I didn't think the reveal would be like that. Katara was a better PL than the actual PL. Some helpful spirit she was I didn't think Appa looked sick, just full from eating, I thought something was fishy when his whole tongue was purple. I thought maybe Katara asked him for a favor, and in turn he did some great acting ;D EDIT: 500th post! I made it!

Well the fact that you were ranting off for no apparent reason about Katara when other characters have done other annoying things. And Appa was just really full and the purple tongue made him look sick but the purple tongue but he wasn't sick at all.

My ranting wasn't for no reason, I was talking about what Katara did so she could help the villagers which was the entire point of the episode. Who else did annoying things in this episode? Sokka? Well he always does annoying things for the sake of comedy. How many berries did Katara feed Appa to fill his five stomachs so much that he was breathing that heavily and had to lie on his side?

hey...very season there always a dud that "we" proclam like "Avatar Day" or "The Great Divide"...So it nice to get it out of the way....beside much of the important actions is going to take place very soon and so as I been saying, this the calm before the storm. I didn't think it was that bad and the way people are making out of...these could give the New York Media a run for there money. Well for Toph loves...seem every week, toph is getting more into the lime light and overall it was a great way to see group dynamics at work....Still I don't get why "The Headband" is consider a fillier if add much to plot on both side of the story...People

YAY Katara was more annoying than ever in this episode, being a spotlight hoger once agian..What is with the writers?! We want more characters, shove her in the back for a change. And I understand that she wants to help people but my freakin gosh, to put a side saving the world over a villiage in danger, come back next time for it. Sokka was so in the right this episode, sure he didn't want to stop by but he did help in the end and backed up Katara in the end. She owed him a sorry for yelling at him. Bad Katara, bad!!!
Any ways my rant is over, Sokka was great in this episode, his planes and humor once agian save the episode. Toph was great as well and the Tokka hints were nice. And yes Sokka does have a heart, where the heck was Aang for the last years??!!

I don't get why they don't save filler eps for after Aang saves the world. That way we can see how everyone turns out instead of a short epilogue like in Harry Potter. I didn't hate it though, watched it a few times like I do with all the episodes. It's not a plot mover but it's no great divide either. Could have used more violence.

It's sad that Toph's potential in character development isn't being taken advantage of, I feel bad for all of those fans of hers. She's been reduced as a character. She still comes off as a outcast to me. No bashing, really. I mean, I remember when some of board members complained about how Sokka was just the comedian of the group and worried about his lack of character development, and look how far he has come, he's getting his own episode next week. Again, I'll say it, I don't like Toph one bit, but I do think she deserves to be fleshed out. I like to be as fair as possible, even to things I don't like. I personally think she would a spotlight close to or even equal to Katara if she had been introduced in the first season, her intro in season was cool, but the fact that it was in season 2 was a serious handicap. I will join the Toph fans with their pitchforks and torches in angry protest if secondary characters like Mai and Ty Lee get more character development than someone who is a gAang member. Is it just me or Katara fans anti-Toph and Toph fans anti-Katara? It sure seems that way.

I thought this was a cute episode, but I would have liked to have seen more of a tie-in to the overarching action of Season 3. Outside Sokka's mention of the length of the eclipse (which you could stick into practically any episode), there was nothing in this episode that drove the plot forward. And it seemed to recycle way too many ideas - Katara's sense of righteousness from "Imprisoned," the environmental message of "The Spirit World," the clandestine identity of "The Blue Spirit," and the villagers rejecting the outsider who saved them from thugs of their own nationality of "Zuko Alone" (in fact, the scene where Katara was revealed was so similar to "Zuko Alone" it was a bit jarring). But there were some cute moments, too. I think my favorites might be Sokka and Aang discussing the particulars of how a spirit would blow up the factory - Sokka: "Woooo woooo... boom!" Aang: "No, it's more like this... woooo...booom..." That was freakin' adorable. Also Toph's little "we could clean up the river!"
