Hello everyone!
It actually wasn't hard to find my account as I actually still use the name attached to it. ( I did have a bit of trouble and made an account with the same username to try and see if I could look at the old email I used so you'll see kataang101 is the last newest member but anayway..)
Maybe I'm talking into the void here but that's okay. So we've all grown up eh? Some of us were already young adults but I'm sure there were also a good amount of youngins. It's crazy that it's been 15 years since the first episode aired and 8 years since Korra came out. I was 11 when ATLA came out and just one day after my 13th birthday when I joined this forum in 2006. I still remember sitting in the dark in my cousin's room and actually making the account. I was very active here on this forum back in those days. I went on hiatus from here after ATLA ended and a brief return when Korra started. But this is the place where I really first made friends online and where I felt like I was part of a community. It was my first real exposure to the internet and internet culture. I remember staying up to the wee hours just enjoying reading posts and posting about the show and just being part of the community. Ironically I'm doing that now as my eyes grow more and more red as the night goes on. I remember I would log on first thing after school and participate in the events that would be held whether it was role play, reading fanfiction or, of course, being a part of the Kataang Sky Castle threads, or mashing the refresh to see the "old" sign change to "new" to see if any new posts about the latest episode was posted. I remember hanging out at my cousin's house and he was going to go to sleep but I opted to stay up late to be on this forum and I still remember him saying, "Alright, goodnight. Um...have fun in your forum." And I was thinking, yea I really will.
This forum really started my internet life where I first became an entity on the internet. I mean, this username, Kataang101, was my first online alias that I chose to use and is STILL a username I use to this day if I can use it on any account I make in games and the like. I have a very close attachment to this name and my feelings of nostalgia is now skyrocketing as I read through my old posts here and just see my username attached to the posts I made when I was a teenager. I'm sure if any person that was very active back then were to look at the old posts they made when this forum was very active they would have the same feelings I'm experiencing right now. There are even some usernames here of other members that I still remember, of course, Musogato, Muffin, Blind Bandit, godhunter, and Empy being some of them. The karma system and ranking by post count was my first experience in wanting to see numbers that only have meaning online go up as high as I can make it. Kind of like my first experience in wanting "likes" lol. Also, Looking at the signature thing under my posts here really brings back the memories of trying to make my own images and learning how to use photoshop or gimp. This is also the place where I really learned how to type and modify text and I guess to an extent, interact with html.
Youtube was first getting started around this time and I remember that this forum was the reason I made many ATLA/Kataang music videos using songs that I listened to back then and posted them. Unfortunately all but one of my videos have survived as most of them were deleted from what I assume was copyright claims lol. It was easier to get away with it back then but over time they were removed. I think the video that did survive actually is partially blocked because of copyright. It was a Kataang tribute for the 2008 Kataang week event using The Jonas Brothers' "Love Bug". It actually got 10k views over the years before it was blocked and obviously that is a small number compared to what people get now but as a teenager I was really proud of that. I would link it but I don't think it would let you watch it.
This forum really shaped part of my childhood (teenagehood?) and definitely was a factor for my interest in pc gaming, the internet in general, and being part of an online community.
I hope that when the live action is released on Netflix that some of the old members will remember this forum and maybe log back on to see the old posts they've made. Maybe even some activity in terms of discussing the show; like how it used to be and the reason this forum was created. Or maybe the discussions will just default to Reddit and this place will lie dormant and that's okay too. I'm just glad it's still here and I hope it stays up so we can always come back as old members and reminisce on the good times with friendships made and now maybe gone and the excitement of fresh episodes being released.
So I just want to say thanks for everyone that was a part of this forum and those that moderated it and made it a place where a wee lad can come home from school and have a more dynamic and enhanced experience watching and being a fan of ATLA/Korra. Hope you enjoyed the read and story about my experience here and thanks everybody!

TLDR: I was young when I first joined DH, DH forum was great with good memories, maybe the live action will bring some activity back, thanks to all!
PS. I almost made a mistake that I used to make all the time back in the day: Making a thread in the wrong section. LOL the Hello/Goodbye section is probably where the most appropriate. I'll save which ever mod that will ever see this the trouble of having to move it.
PSS. It looks like the whole forum is almost to a million posts. We can do it!
