It was good to have the airbender conflict resolved and for Tenzin to finally get some recruits. I am just so happy about the restoration of the Air Nomads. Their society has always been so fascinating to me.
I have a feeling the Earth Queen/Ba Sing Se issue is going to come back and bite us in the butt later on in the season though...

Loved getting to see a bunch of Airbenders fighting together. I'm glad that Tenzin finally has a group to take to the Northern Air Temple.
And yeah, I'm sure that we'll see the whole issue with the Earth Queen rise again. I think it is interesting that we're exploring the fact that even though there isn't an active war, the political state of the world is still pretty unstable. Korra is a "go big or go home" type of person and that translates to her role as Avatar. She likes to focus on the big things (and admittedly Harmonic Convergence was a big deal). But, the little issues, like trying to protect Earth Kingdom citizens from an unfair queen just isn't as exciting for her. She still has a long way to go before she becomes a mature Avatar. And she will have to learn it without the help of her past lives.
Fan girl moment: it was great getting to see Zuko fight even in his old age. Too bad the prisoners didn't give them much of a change. Speaking of which, I'm glad that we finally figured out what they were imprisoned for. The whole overprotection of Korra makes so much more sense now. It is interesting that they are operating under the belief that the age of the Avatar is over. Since Korra lost her connection to her past lives, and is no longer "the bridge", they have an argument for sure. Of course, she still has Raava, so will be reincarnated. But, since not everyone is a huge Korra fan, they might have some people who agree with them.

Yeah, I'm so glad that they've addressed why Korra was so protected and sheltered. I also love that no one has any idea why these prisoners were after her; it'll be exciting to find out as it happens instead of it just being told during some exposition. (actually, I probably shouldn't assume that.) But these fight/bending sequences, man! I love it. Definitely looking forward to seeing and learning more about all of these prisoners. And maybe eventually learning their names. Zaheer? That's the only one I know.
Glad to see that Jinora was able to help locate Kai and the other airbenders as well, it's great to see everyone having an active part. And more Korra and Asami spending time together, yay. This gives me hope for the rest of the season.
I hope the Earth Queen comes back, and I hope it ties into a return of that community of (costumed?) biker thieves that tried stealing the taxes earlier, but I'm afraid to bet on it. They might save it for part two of the season, if this one's going to be about the prisoners. Unless it's the other way around...
I can't remember. Did Kai go with Tenzin and the other airbenders, or is he sticking with Korra's group? Did Jinora go with Tenzin? Who's driving the other airship if both Asami and Lin are with Korra? .......eugh, this is why I need repeat viewings.

Ah, excellent! Thank you! I wonder if P'Li is Combustion Man's grand-daughter, or if there's some secret order of Firebenders that study or have that ability. Also wondering if Ghazan was a pirate, because those are some nice tattoos he has. Ok, thank you! I couldn't remember seeing them in the metal city, but I couldn't rule it out either. ^^;

I too wonder about P'Li. I think all your theories hold merit at this point in the story, for we've gotten very little information to work on, meaning we can still take it all sorts of directions. Most likely is that the ability is something people can learn or gain through some method. Most new abilities are tied into the story in such a fashion, creating the idea that no ability (other than the avatar's skills) are reserved for one individual, but rather undiscovered potential of bending in general. There's one other thing that had me thinking. If you look at her eyes she has those general gold eyes, typically connected to the royal family. (Or at least, that's what I always thought). PS I really need to get used to proboards again. I tried to add the only highress picture I could find of P'Li. To show you the eyes. But I'm not entirely sure if it worked or not.

Could she be connected to Zuko in some way? Like a rebel daughter- granddaughter? Or perhaps there's a way to connect Azula into the story? PS I really need to get used to proboards again.
