It ended too soon.
There is a difference between a cliffhanger and a really stupid ending that makes me want to hurl bricks through the skulls of everyone who works at Nick.
I want next week to happen. Now.
Jet is gonna get his bum whipped too.

By the way, I don't know if anyone spotted this but, when Jet was being hypnotized, why couldn't he do something, like, focus on another point in the room or keep his eyes closed? It's not like they were forcing his eyelids open. I think it was a combination of his not really knowing what was going on and also the repetition of the voices and rotating lantern. In theory maybe he could've kept his eyes shut and tried to tune them out, but I think he was too confused with just what was going on. Then again, I'd guess they probably have their brainwashing technique figured out down to a science and have it pretty effective.

Plus, even if your eyes WERE closed, it doesn't block out ALL the light.

Toph flicking boogers, wtf.
I wonder why that didn't bother me as much as Aang sniffing his finger after digging around in his ear. It will be interesting to see how else this hygiene-challenged characteristic of hers is going to manifest itself.

Hey, she acts like I do. Toph comes from a proper family, yet she acts like a tomboy. I'm not much of a tomboy, but I am the oddball in my family. My parents are nice and quiet and I'm hyper and loud. I can relate with Toph.

Wasn't Toph flicking rice puffs o.O Lol this episode had so much cool points. The hypnosis thing at the end really creeped me out. SPINNING FIRE TORTURE The Ju Dee people are scary o.o The Whole creepy government is scary. Lol Iroh is pro tea maker. And the Zuko VS Jet fight was pretty cool. "You mean platapus bear? Certaintly you mean is pet skunk bear, or his armadillo bear? Gopher Bear? It just says bear... This place is weird." XD Lol Katara and Toph looks cool.

I was disappointed with this one after the Secret of the Fire Nation movie event:
- The animation was great, but it didn't blow me away like it did in "The Serpent's Pass" and "The Drill."
- They did a terrible job of switching back and forth between Team Avatar's point of view and Zuko/Jet's. This doesn't need too much explanation. The timing was just off, all you need to do is watch the episode to see that.
- A lot of scenes were only included to take up time (Toph telling the others that they don't have manners is a prime example). This episode only really existed to tell us that Long Feng is the head honcho and that he brainwashes people in order to maintain power - apart from that it was just a waste of an episode. I'm not sure where the Zuko vs. Jet thing is going, but so far it isn't too exciting. Hearing Jet say "He's Fire Nation" over and over is getting on my nerves.
- They made Aang and Sokka look like morons in this episode, with the head-bonking and Sokka's ridiculous "weird stuff happens to us" comments, versus the girls getting prettied up and being the well-mannered ones. It was a big step back for Sokka after his character was showing some improvement following SotFN.
- In the beginning, Aang gets the bison whistle out and acts in a manner similar to that which we saw in the beginning of "The Serpent's Pass." Later, you see him entertaining guests at the king's party, bonking heads with Sokka, and it just gives off a really contradictory vibe. Uncool.
The worst episode in a while, IMO. At least we're getting them once a week now, though. =/

I don't know... I think it was kind of nice to see Aang acting like a kid again. To me, it kind of shows that he is indeed feeling better about the entire situation and he's not letting his post-Appa "aangst" get the better of him any more. Yes, he's very intelligent and mature for his age, but he's twelve, for crying out loud. I'm glad that he still gets to be a kid every so often.
Aside from that, though... I do wish they had focused on the point of the plot a little bit more. The ending seemed rushed to me.

I think it was the funniest episode so far, second only to the Cave of Two Lovers. The bear scene was funny, and the fight with zuko and jet 0__o amazing.

This eppy was certainly something else and I thought for a while that the Emperor was nothing more than a figurehead. We're going over that in Modern History of Japan. During the last 1,000 years (Tokugawa Era) in Japan, the Emperor was just that and the shogun ruled with military power. Thankfully that ended in 1869 (shogun power) and with any luck, the Earth Kingdom Emperor will follow suit. I actually felt really bad for Jet when he got hypnotized Overall, it was awesome and just what I needed to revive for Avatar fan powers We need a higher scale to rate the last episode b/c a 10 just ain't enough ;D

When I started watching the episode, I was suddenly very much reminded of a particular scene in the book 'Watership Down'. If you've read the book, you'll know what I"m talking about.
Having read the scene again, it seems to me that so long as the Dai Li keeps stuffing culture down the throats of the well-to-do (yet another reason to keep the poor segregated -- out of sight, out of mind, you know), they can keep the city under their control. There has to be nearly a million people in that city; if you keep them happy, you have no problems, right?
Ju Dee freaked me out a bit, too. Nobody can grin that wide for that long and still be considered normal. Really. But I find I am concerned about her fate. Being Nickelodeon, you're aware that nothing *really* bad would have happened to her, but when you listen to the last few notes of music right before the credits pop up, you start to wonder.
As for the Jet/Zuko fight scene (or as I like to say, the Jet/Li scene, because Zuko=Li XD), I think it was AWESOME. I was dissapointed that Zuko wasn't able to hand Jet his @$$ to him (c'mon, it's ZUKO), and a little confused about the fact that Zuko was broadswording IN FRONT OF HIS UNCLE. I mean, didn't the previous eps lead us to believe that he was hiding this paritcular skill from Iroh? I thought so...
The lightning cutting through Jet's wheatstalk: Pure LOVE. Although being the dense chick I am, I didn't even notice it until I went onto Wikipedia. I just thought it was the sword reflecting light from the houses. XD
Has anyone else caught the irony that the two members of the royal family are serving tea in the ghettos while the water tribe 'peasants', the tomboy and the monk live in luxery? XD
Overall, I thought the episode was quite good. The feeling I got from it was while you became aware very quickly that something was not quite *right*, you still had a sense of levity that lasted all the way to the end. Then everything comes crashing in on you and you're left feeling rather uncomfortable and not a little shocked. Kinda like you've just come back from your wedding reception to find out your house has burnt down.
And it would seem that we're going to be feeling that way for awhile, since the next ep looks to step away from the storyline for a bit....
