no, not about using it.
What's the latest must have version of it? Or any other similar program.
I am yet again considering a new computer and I am trying to see how big I need to get it.

What's the - I am sleepy, it was photoshop, elementals I think. What does that do? Is that a ful program or just stuff to add?
I actually have gimp, but since I killed my laptop, many moons ago I have not done much with it.
But I got a junior computer torturer who likes to do graphics.
(a good program for gifs while we are at it?)
I am completely inapt. the best graphic program I ever had (I could actually do something with) was the one that cme with my way old flatbed scanner. I miss it so much.

well i would recommend Adobe Photshop Elements 6.0...it's what i use for all of my graphics...it's about $40-70..it depends on where u go to buy it...but it's pretty ideal for all of MY graphic needs. another program i use is also Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2...which u can get a trial of.. here... www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1184951547051#versionTabview=tab1&tabview=tab0but on the .gif program subject... i don't really do .gifs.... but i do, however, have a program called Jasc Animation Shop..it's an okay program for making .gif files..

do you just pop the software in and go to town or do you use tutorials, instruction books or even classes?
Like I said, I did more with stupid paint and the editing software for the mira scan machine, but was utterly unable to do anything with photoshop and Gimp is also very, VERY limited in my hands.

Lol manuals. I don't think I've ever read a manual for computer software. Adobe products are particularly easy to figure out once you got the hang of one of them; the menus are placed similarly, and most of them look alike.

Shock Wave and Night have given you an awesome amount of information for your decision.
What specs are you considering for the new computer?

I am on the fence, really. I need something with more RAM so I can do some multitasking. Naturally, with the kid growing into that age, it needs a decent graphic card for gaming (that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ) of course some multimedia, graphic editing, maybe video, you know, the stuff our DH kids do. new wrinkle in the twist, Hubby suggested to get a good laptop + wireless, to be mobile (and able to take it on the plane). I would be happy - for now - with just a beefed up RAM deal, but I was unable to locate the slot to put the chip in - or replace... (and I have about 10 things I'd rather should spend the 1k on...much more useful)

You couldn't find the RAM sticks?
Google image search for "ram" gives pretty decent results to illustrate what you are looking for.

They are there somewhere! LOL There are many different types of RAM now though, so you would have to turn the computer off, pull a stick and read what type it is. There are also limits to how much RAM a motherboard can handle. The manufacturer certainly has specs on the amount of RAM you can put in there. If you are going to use a 32 bit OS, your hard ceiling has already been determined for you at 4 GB. 32 bit windows can't address more than that. Can you post a couple of pics of the inside of your PC? We can find them.
