Join Avatar_Mom, Kevin Coppa, and special guest Melissa Pena (Zimmay) for a glimpse into the series through the eyes of the fandom. An exclusive sneak peak into upcoming Nickelodeon Magazine Avatar comics, cosplay contest, haiku slam, art of Melissa Pena, and an exclusive Avatar the Last Puppetbender film are just some of the treats this panel has lined up for Anime Central’s awesome ATLA fans.
Cosplay Contest Rules: You must be wearing an Avatar the Last Airbender inspired cosplay. Lesser cosplayed characters are welcomed, but no original characters (OCs). If it was in the show, you can cosplay it!
Haiku Slam Rules: Contestants must create and read an original Avatar inspired Haiku. A Haiku is a form of poetic expression that is made up of three lines with each line having a syllable rule. 1st line 5 syllables, 2nd line 7 syllables, 3rd line 5 syllables. Participants may bring a haiku they wrote before the convention, or write one during the panel while waiting for the slam to begin. Please let us know if you need materials to write an entry. Two finalists will be chosen from the first round of writers. Those two will then have a few minutes to craft a new haiku inspired by a specific Avatar theme we give you. When time is up, finalists need to have a haiku ready or be disqualified. The Avatar fandom is full of crafty writers, come show us what you are made of!
*If you would like to be a part of the Haiku Slam, and you know you will be attending the panel, please reserve a spot now. We are only accepting a certain amount of contestants this year because of limited time. Email us at avatarlegacy.com@gmail.com to reserve your right to slam.
After the panel there will be a photo shoot with Kevin Coppa’s puppets. We will announce where that will be held as we wrap up the panel. Also, at 4:30pm in the tree grove in front of the Hyatt, there will be an Avatar cosplay photo shoot (rain location will be “The Dome”). Many fans are planning to gather. We hope you can join us!
